I come from Uyeasound in Shetland!! I had this cassette when it first came out with Wish and couldn't believe it when i saw the title of this song and always wondered where they found it..

I've been to Uyea Sound.....it's on Unst, the most northerly Shetland Isle and one of the most beautiful places in the world. Listening to this song I guess they went there too!

An unfounded allegation. You refer to Jason as though he's a ogue member. As though he decided that the other members wouldn't notice him replicating sounds. If he were that stupid he'd have been forced out of the band. Of course, you really don't care, you hate jason more then you like the cure and thus sacrifice any respect for their artistic integrity.

Yep, that's more accurate. And talking about integrity... well, the (ab)use of backing tapes with his snare prerecorded (following Bob's orders probably) is making Jason look bad and affects his artistic integrity. Search in musicians forums

I'm not the only one that have noticed that. Personally I think The Cure is too big for Jason and I really wanted to like him but in 2000, with Bloodflowers and after hearing him play live a few times, it was clear that he didn't fit the band.

Jason recently won a prize for a score he composed for a thriller movie, so he isn't a bad musician.. only he is not for a band like The Cure ,full of guys with 80s influences and the same age.

I have to agree with you on your second point, but the cure have actually developed alot more in recent years which is actually fairly accomodating of Jasons sounds. Then aain the thing I hate most is that he's genuinly hated rather then objectivly argue against. I think you earn a gold star for being the first person to convince me that perhaps you are correct.

I do think bloodflowers was awesome though.

i dont think people (fans) hate/criticize him just because they want to... it reminds me the years when Bush and their "Machinehead" where #1, and I believe Rolling Stone magazine put him in the cover with the label "Don't hate him because he is pretty"... ohh those years... No. I don't think he gets bad critics because he is cute and blonde but because he doesn't fit. Also many have noticed that distinctive drum fills & patterns of classic songs have been changed for bad!

hear how Jason has omitted the two cymbals hits after a phrase in KAA. That is a sin! :)

Seriously it sounds bad. Also the bass drum pattern in Disintegration, LGTB and others have been changed for a more easy way to play them, as the originals requires faster feets.

One of the things I personally hate about his playing is that he omits distinctive drum fills even in HIS songs, when playing live.

Anyway I will still buy their CDs as I feel compelled to buy anything with "The Cure" on it :)
