Matt submitted MULTIPLE black belts at this tournament - it was not a fluke, but the product of hard work and skill. I teach Jiu-Jitsu for a living, I know a little about this sort of thing.

I know Edson personally as well, and he's a dedicated professional. But there's always somebody better. Always.

I don't agree with the alegation that him being out of shape is/was a cop-out. You know Matt, we know Edson. That's all there is to it.

If Edson was out of shape then he doesn't belong in a professional absolute division (which this was), I say that is a cop-out.

Also your aligation that Arroyo is all strength and not impressive shows your ignorance of Jiu-Jitsu technique. Please tell me how his flowing transitions from omoplata-triangle-armbar involved strength and not great Jiu-Jitsu knowledge.

you are right about something, any body can have a bad day, I have seen a good blue belt tap out a black belt, so if you know anything about jiu jitsu, you should know these things can happen.

i have never heard of this guy matt arroyo...edson on the other hand is a known champion, loosin like this does not mean anything..this is probably one of those tournaments to get in shape for a real one.

Man Edson got caught. And I know him personally and know he was out of shape at the time. I'm telling you there is nothing impressive about this purple belt. now his other matches I don't know but I can tell he's like all strength based on the way he wrestles.
