@firelog Do you know what a analogy is? Naturely in the 75 years since the developement of the Stuka, aircrafts have had a few small improvements. (ya think?) In 1935 the Stuka was cutting edge. In 2011 crop dusters are hardly cutting edge, even with a Turbo-Prop. This plane is not expencive as compared to more modern or even the 40year old A-10s go. My Analogy was right on target. even though it was made as a joke. Weaponising a Crop sprayer is a poor mans solution to a problem.
@MOJONIXION "Poor man's Stuka" is an analogy that an air tractor is somehow a lesser-version (poor mans) Stuka. Obviously this isn't the case, so, it doesn't make for a very good analogy.
OK, so it has a bunch of hardware hanging underneath it...but what of the supporting avionics, like bomb aiming etc? I have to admit though I couldnt really believe it when I saw ordnance hanging off an crop duster...
Actually, this video has the concept backward. Isn't it the govt sponsored agencies that are using these for drug crop eradication, and defensive armament to survive while doing so? Note the minigun pods, and the rearward facing (WSO) rear cockpit seat location.
@crashinaluscombe Just imagine drug lord air tractors and DEA air tractors doing battle in the skys above Columbia, now that would be a great video to see.
@MOJONIXION Not really, this thing has essentially a jet engine, higher horsepower plus larger wing area means it can actually haul alot more weight than a stuka can. Technology has really improved, and cropdusters are designed to haul as much as possible in as small of an airframe as possible.
@tobagotb10 Well you dont need A-10 all the time. Plus jets arent very good for COIN ops. To expensive and fast. Of course the Airforce Hates these things...
IS THAT A DROMANDER WITH WEAPONS :O a slow f***ing unmaneuverable plane with guns? omg!

Is that for real? Oh my, talking about cost savings in the airforce.

Yes, you join the airforce assuming you get to fly A-10's or CF-18's only to end up flying a cropduster. I think it's cheap.
