If you want specific pruning standards look into American National Standards Institute or ANSI, A300 standards. If you have a tree that you don't feel completely confident in handling consult with an ISA Certified Arborist. Finally, the common citizen very rarely need a chainsaw, so keep yourself safe and limit your work to hand saws/shears. Average chainsaw injury: 110 stitches and medical cost was $ 5,600.00 in 1989, somewhat less than large tree removal costs.
Very good advice, including the safety tips. We prune our own trees and shrubs, but we have one May Day tree that absolutely refuses to acknowledge our presence! It doesn't seem to matter *what* we try, it has its own game plan and frankly, it's not a very good one. We're close to putting it up for 'adoption' lol.
I've been looking, but I haven't found a video, on the Lowe's site, that covers tree diseases ie. recognition of and treatment for. I hope they make one soon...pre Spring!!
Some good tips on pruning there. Nice to see someone talking about the branch collar. As for ladders, don't think you can't fall off a three pronged ladder !!! I have standard and three pronged ladders. I highly recommend putting a spirit level on your ladder.
If you don't own a three-pronged ladder you should not be out pruning in the backyard. Only a hack would use a regular step ladder on un-level ground. Make sure you have someone to drive you to the E.R.
Yeah great information. I always prune my trees at my land. I realized the trees in the last few years they are growing very fast. I very recommend to prune if you want to have healthy trees ! :)
Can this guy come trim my trees please... Seems like he knows what he's doing.
