@twikie258 It might not actually be guitar, since the rest of the guitar in the song is chopped-up samples of the original version, and those harmonics aren't in the original. It sounds like guitar to me, but it's definitely separate from the one that plays the chords before it, so that's why it sounds different when I play it, since I combine them into one part.
Yeah well if the solos are that long, I can see how they would need to improvise SOMETIMES...well in that case I gain more respect for the band...I say if you can't repeat what you do in the studio live, don't do it (even though LP doesn't add ALL of their guitar parts live, it still sounds good enough :D).
hey just looking at your other comments..and then this will be completely random. But since you got offered a job to be in a Metallica tribute band, i'm guessing you know a lot more about them than I do, since probably a rock from my backyard knows more about them than me. ANYWAYS, when Metallica plays live, can they actually like, play all of their guitar solos at least 85% accurately with their album? because I've noticed a lot of bands live that can't play their solos live.
@nickanderson4639 They're usually pretty good about it, the solos James plays, he usually nails perfectly. Kirk plays the majority of his stuff the same but he improvises a bit sometimes, particularly with his longer solos. He's can be a little bit sloppy, but not as terrible as some people say. Most of the people who criticize him probably can't do any better than he does.
@NoButtonsToday Go watch any lead guitarist in any famous band on stage. When they aren't playing anything, what do they do? THEY LOWER THEIR FUCKING FRETTING HAND BECAUSE THEY AREN'T USING IT FOR ANYTHING.
Your 3 year-old niece will probably be one of the groupies sucking my dick after she grows up.
@NoButtonsToday Yes, because you can totally see my dick in the video...not like there's a guitar blocking it or anything. *rolls eyes* Kirk Hammett lowers his fretting hand when he isn't using it. Claudio Sanchez lowers his fretting hand when he isn't using it. I see you've favorited Avenged Sevenfold and System of a Down videos, which is ironic, because I've seen both M. Shadows and Daron Malakian lower their fretting hand when not using it as well.
@NoButtonsToday You obviously do care, since you used it as the main point of your argument when you tried to insult me in the first place. I'm not famous? My videos have a combined total of over 1.3 million views and I have over 2,000 subscribers. My band has a CD out and 2 songs in rotation on an Internet radio station. I've played numerous shows. I'm not a celebrity, but I could put up a video of me brushing my teeth and it would get more views than you would ever get for anything you put up.
I'm going to agree that NoButtonsToday sounds like a whiner, but this comment about "fame" is pretty ridiculous. First of all, let's dig into the reality of the music business. You provide a good amount of cash, your song has internet radio play if it fits standards, you can book a show whenever you please, and you can walk into any studio that you can afford. Releasing a CD is very affordable using a nice little website known as Lulu.
@SmartzwithPartz I can see where you're coming from if you take that one comment out of context. I don't mean to come off as someone with delusions of grandeur, hell, I work 30 hours a week as a telemarketer to help pay the bills for the little 2-bedroom apartment I'm renting. As far as my band goes though, we never paid anybody off to achieve anything. We played shows for free, paid out of pocket to have our CDs professionally manufactured through Discmakers, and worked out of our own studio.
Fair enough man. My sincere apologies for reading your posts out of context. Your comments came off to me as selfish but your replies to me prove otherwise. Keep up the good work.
@SmartzwithPartz No worries. I just think more people should follow your example and learn how to come up with constructive criticism. I don't have a vendetta against naysayers, I just hate it when people can't disagree with someone intelligently.
Oh, and as far as the viewers go, your videos consist of covers of one of the biggest bands in the world which automatically will get you views. Then you put into the equation that you are one of the few, if not only, people to have a big collection of covers. Last but not least, you have to figure in the young generation of fans who have no concept of what it takes to be a good musician. Don't get me wrong, your covers are fantastic but your attitude is piss poor.
@SmartzwithPartz And as far as the idea of Linkin Park covers automatically getting you a lot of views, that's not necessarily true. A lot of my subscribers have tried to follow the same route (and I certainly wish them the best of luck), but more often than not, the videos I see them post only get a couple hundred views, if that. I think what happened with me was more of a result of me being well-known in the Linkin Park fan community long before I started posting videos.
@NoButtonsToday And shit, I have a hell of a lot better chance of getting famous playing music than you do with your "Bad Girl's Club" videos of The Sims, LOL.
@NoButtonsToday Because people from Cleveland, Ohio who live in Minnesota are totally "rednecks." Oh, wait, you're Canadian, you probably think the entire U.S. consists of rednecks. By the way, you could use a history lesson, as "redneck" is not a derogatory term at all, in fact, it originates from the "coal wars" of the early 20th century, where coal miners who were fighting against the companies they worked for tied red bandanas around their necks so they wouldn't be shot by their allies.
@NoButtonsToday Yes, I totally can't play guitar. Do YOU know how to play guitar? Have YOU dedicated the last 9 years of your life to studying all the nuances of one instrument? Have YOU studied under jazz-fusion artists who have collaborated with Pat Metheny and Michael Hedges? Have YOU amassed over 2,000 Youtube subscribers with your guitar playing? Have YOU been in a band that released a CD of original material? Have YOU recorded music in a professional studio before? I highly doubt it.
@astatslpvids Have I ever seen ur CD? Have I not have 3 different guitars? Have I not played for 7 years? Have I not studied jazz fusion artists? Do I not think that you suck on the guitar? Do I not think that anyone who thinks they're gonna become famous from studying shit for 11 years or whatever? No I haven't AMAZED 2,000 youtubers. But I have a life. My life doesn't depend on Youtubers and people to favourite my videos and watch them to make my life better. I don't care about youtubers 4fuck
@NoButtonsToday I like how you capitalized "amazed" like you were trying to correct me. "Amassed" is a word, as anyone who passed junior high knows. Way to show your intelligence, or lack thereof. And I also have a life (that doesn't revolve around inane time-wasting games like The Sims). I just moved 800 miles from home 4 months ago to share an apartment with my girlfriend. I just set up a home recording studio. I've also got an offer to join a Metallica tribute band on the table. Life is good.
@NoButtonsToday Oh, and I just came in 42nd out of 2,530 entries in the remix competition for the first single from Linkin Park's new album. That's in the top 2 percent, if you don't have a calculator handy (since I know there's no way you'd be able to figure that out in your head). Yes, someone who you claim has zero musical talent just beat nearly 2,500 people from all around the world, in a contest based on...*GASP* musical talent! Well shit, if that doesn't just screw up your whole argument.
@NoButtonsToday Do the math and figure out the percentages yourself if you like...oh wait, you're way too stupid to know how to do that, so I'll do that for you: 42/2,530 x 100 = 1.66 (rounded). That means that I did better than 98.34% of the people who entered the contest. Ever score a 98 or better on a test? Ever take part in a competition with 100 people and come in 2nd (essentially the equivalent of what I did)? Didn't think so, because you clearly lack the talent and brain power for that.
@NoButtonsToday And yes, you are "done." The only reason I didn't block you immediately after reading your first dumb comment is because I knew you were too stupid to keep up a good argument for long, and I felt like exposing to the world what an idiot you are. Now that you've given up because you ran out of stupid shit to say, bye-bye. Have fun joining the other morons who have become the butt of numerous jokes between me and the hundreds of people who actually recognize my talent.
@astatslpvids You came in 42nd place because people that supported your work were part of a Linkin Park fan site (which you are a moderator of). It had nothing to do with 'musical talent', especially when the only significant part of your remix that I can recall was a washed up solo that made no indication that it stood out from the rest. More importantly, the band themselves picked who they thought had talent with all of the voting aside.
@SmartzwithPartz And I'm glad the band picked the winner themselves instead of just basing it off the voting, because there were some pretty terrible remixes that ranked higher than mine, as well as some really good ones that ranked a lot lower. It did turn into quite the popularity contest, and I'll admit to my fair amount of shameless self-promotion, but a lot of the people who commented on my mix were people I didn't know. A good portion of the people on LPLive actually hate me anyway.
I'll take requests for anything you want, but I won't make any promises. I actually recorded 2 videos for a song by another band today, but I wasn't too pleased with how they came out, so I'll probably redo them.
Anyways, this display of Reanimation tracks is going to be amazing. Maybe it'll inspire the band to try some Reanimation-style tracks in the future live.
I'd really like to see them do PTS.OF.ATHRTY live. Most of the Reanimation tracks would be hard to pull off live due to all the guest vocalists, but that particular song, I see no reason why they couldn't do it.
That's the plan. I'm probably not going to do X-Ecutioner Style because the guitar on that is like...somewhere in between D and Eb tuning (either one will sound out of tune if you try to play along with it), and a couple of the songs like BY_MYSLF and 1STP KLOSR will be really hard to pull off for various reasons, but I'm going to try.
x-ecutioner style is forgotten with the pitch slightly lowered, isn't it?
but yea, you're right, most of the instruments on reanimation are extremely processed and not really intended to be played live for the most part so good luck with that.
You must go to "Got Talent"!!
