Theres a feature Id like Rise of Flight to add. When a plane catches fire and crashes it should burn the airplane until only the skeleton is left or until the fire goes out e.x.

I still prefer IL-2's crashes. the planes are a lot more likely to explode than they do in this. Though that said the in air damage in this is far better.

I think that the explosions in air should be less dramatic in this game, like making it blow a chunk out of the body and wing but not the whole plane.

@Thomasmr25 yes, I'm also very dissapointed with Cliffs of Dover, the crashes are the same as in il2.

Well WW1 aircraft don't have a big explosion, but I'm sure in WW2 they did, wouldn't it make sense of IL2 had big explosions?

@Thomasmr25 ya i guess but just remember planes in ww2 were made of metal and were alot heavier creating more force on impact ww1 planes were wooden and very light thus a lighter impact fyi i am not trying to show off or make you mad i just thought i could help please dont get offended : )

@Thomasmr25 You can still pull of some pretty impressive crash landings in IL-2. Try sideslipping into the ground at the last possible second.

@altar10495 it's a simulator so the planes behave realisticly, but of course there are a lot of dificulty options to make the game a bit easier. Some aircraft are difficult to fly like the gotha or the camel, but most others are quite simple.

@kedrednael great answer i know il2 and ROF are difficult but personaly i like the real challange it just makes the game more appreciative in the history of the aircraft :)

@ABZ6381 It's better in some ways, it has better graphics, flight models and damage models. But il2 has more planes and you can accually use the mission builder there.

I Really like that and I'm thinking of taking the game. But something surprised me at the beginning: WWI planes don't explode by hitting the ground?

@Le457 the planes are made out of wood, and the fuel tank isn't really big, that's why they don't explode why they hit the ground.

But when you hit the ground when you are burning, or when you hit the ground really hard with the nose the plane can explode like at 3:05

I was wondering, can the tail actually sever from your plane in this game? Also, where are the craters from the crashes on the grass? Are these settings u can toggle?

@AAErikCO hi, no in rise of flight your tail can't come off completely. And the craters in the ground are there because it is the front line, with a lot of artellery going of. It is a place in the map. You can't get craters because of air craft crashes.

I haven't played ROF for a while, I think you need to ask someone who made a colourful plane.

Maybe you can shearch your rof folder, for a folder whit skins, than you can make new ones. That's how you get new skins in il2 sturmovik.

@GermanSwordMaster You can get pre-made templates in .psd format that split up the skin so you can modify paint, panel lines, and so on separately. Once you're done though you have to convert it to .dds format, and photoshop needs a special plugin to do that. Anyway, once you have the finished .dds save it to program files/Rise of Flight/data/graphics/skins/pla­ne name.

The patches are free, you get them when you start the game and if you are connected to the interned, you will probably get 1.11 next and then 1.12. When you have 1.12 you can login offline.

maybe not.

This game has more realistic clouds that can really take some FPS off, and you have dynamic shadows, difficult fire and explosion effects.

I can barely play rise of flight with 2 planes, and when there are more than 6 planes (3 vs 3) or more in a dogfight it is almost unplayable because the computer has a bit of trouble flying the AI planes.

@kedrednael i have a question: i know that the game comes out of the box with 4 flyable planes and that if you want to fly the others you have to pay,but are the others allready in the game flown by A.I or do you need to buy all of them!!!???

the planes you have to buy are flyable for the A.I.. and that become more every update :)

and I don't know about windows 7. ROF is quite new so I guess it would play one windows 7, but I don't know for sure.

the planes are: the albatros, SPAD, a nieuwport and a fokker drVII, but the A.I. can fly all the airplanes
