happy 41st birthday, my darling hollie! though we never really made it, baby, we came pretty close! biggest regret? not marrying you when we were younger! wherever i go, you're right beside me and in my heart and on my mind! this song here is my song to you! thank you for all the great times we spent together! you're so...so special to me!! love, R
I know this song is a little bit smaltzie, but, for its time, it really was representative of the way society expected the dating scene to be. Nevermind that, it was a really catchy country-pop crossover hit that was fun to listen to. And who can knock something that makes you happy?
hahaha, this song totally reminds me of 3rd Grade. I used to have this huge crush on this geeky, blonde haired, blue eyed girl with glasses. Its funny how music brings you right back.
This song reminds me of a restaurant I worked at in the early 80's. They usually piped one of the local soft rock radio stations which played this song constantly. Thing is, I had to learn to like soft rock or go totally insane. Of course then my friends thought I was nuts for even liking this kind of music.
Back in the 80's, it seemed like you couldn't win, LOL.
@VonMystiK I agree with you there. His huge hit 'I Love A Rainy Night' more or less overshadows this lovely number the late great Eddie Rabbit did in the same year of 1980. Good to see you & I take notice of it. :)

I haven't heard this in years and I still like it. The new country I don't like. I'm a mid-70's, early 80's guy. Good post.

You take that first step
Ask her out and treat her like a lady
Second step
Tell her she's the one you're dreaming of
Third step
Take her in your arms and never let her go
Don't you know step by step
Step by step
You'll win her love ? <3
