hey wonderin ifyou changed the strings for this, i have the bass and i wanna put new strings on it. wonderin if i should just buy more of the original ones that were on it or what
Hi they're the stock pickups in the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass (That's the model, there's only 1) and they are designed by Seimour Duncan. As to actual pickup model names, I'm unsure sorry.
@Edensadventures Thanks anyways. I was wondering because I have been playing bass for a long time and I am teaching my brother. He bought a Squire 5 string Jazz bass the pickups suck and I was thinking about getting them replaced and the pickups on your bass sound really good.
it sounds great, I guess people already said, but in original recording flea doesn´t slap. what doesn´t mean you can slap on this!!! I´ll subscribe, please check my videos if you have time. greetings from Brazil.
I wouldn't think so. It's made to the same size as the old Jazz basses, so go try out any fender jazz bass and you'll know for sure. I personally think it would be fine
@Edensadventures I agree. I do see though that for a very long set a lighter instrument can be a plus. Still, though the maple body is heavyish, as you've clearly shown it helps to make for a crystal clear tone with lots of bottom too. If I didn't already own one your vid would have convinced me - thanks for posting.
Hmm I'm not 100% sure. I was watching Live at Slane Castle the other day and I think his basses had humbuckers in there. But if you get a good set of single coils (Like Fenders or Seiymor Duncans) and pair them with a quality amp, then you'll be able to get his tone pretty easy. As a guitarist, my opinion on bass tones is that they don't vary enough so any quality pickup and amp combination with emulate any bass tone you want.
I don't have the rumble 100 with me anymore. But from memory, I had the bass at about 11-1, low mid 10-11, high mid 12-2:30, treble 12-3. They are all in clock face dials, not Spinal Tap 1-11. I also think there's a mid boost button or soething similar?? I had that turned off.
I assume you mean the model.. It's a Fender Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. I believe it's a new run. Made to the old specs of the Fender Jazz Basses with Seymor Duncan pickups to give it a nicer poppy sound.
Umm!!!! I don't have the rumble with me anymore. But from memory, I had the bass at about 11-1, low mid 10-11, high mid 12-2:30, treble 12-3. They are all in clock face dials, not Spinal Tap 1-11. I also think there's a mid boost button or soething similar?? I had that turned off.
@Edensadventures anyway, you play it well, and I like it 'cause I will receive my own Squier modified vintage jazz bass soon :D and i see that it sounds very well :D
Man... it's a beautiful bass for funky stuff. I love it so much. However I've put flatwound strings on it and I'm very very dissapointed... when you replace the strings, totally stick with the round wound
I have the bass amp (Fender Rumble 100) just below the camera and a bit off to the side and then the camera is recording all the audio (the song is played through a stereo with tower speakers on either side of the camera)
I'm getting this same rig, bass and amp soon. I was checking it out online. I wanted to say I dig the ukulele on the couch and the sewing machine! 5-stars
haha its a great sound actauly..i jut got a new guitar as well...well its not new but you ge tthe dirft it was secondhand...and i brought it home plugged her into the amp...and there was alot of buzzing and humming....then i figgured the guitar was not earthed and now its in the shop for 2-3 weeks getting fixed...i get the goddamn thing and its not earth..anywayz....is ur bass a custom shop...or did u buy it off the shelf?
yeah we sure are, plus we had heaps in case some people came over for Halloween. So i just took a bucket of gum and thew it a people while we drove around.

Edensadventures 1 year ago
@johngarza023 Heck no, especially since the thing weighs 10+ lbs, which is on the heavy side for a 4 string.
6y298 1 year ago
@6y298
Yes I failed to mention that. This bass is very heavy in comparison to other basses I've played.
I personally love that.. a bit of weight in an instrument gives a "sturdy" feel.

@Edensadventures wich strings do u use? Flat or roundwounds ???? And what pickup do u use??? tks ;]
paleceumacolneta 1 year ago
@paleceumacolneta
Fender Round Wounds. I tried the flats and hated their tone.
They are Seimor Duncan pickups. They come stock in the Squier Vintage Modified jazz model.
:)

@Edensadventures Do you think a humbucker or two single coils would make it sound more like Flea's tone?

sorry but mistakes on the end of the intro :
it ends on : D, E and not C, D
G ------7-9....
but well
fredericmartin91 2 years ago
Oh I hadn't ever noticed that before but listening to the track and playing it with the D and E is accurate.
However I don't think theres any harm done, it's still a cool riff even with the C, D.. in my opinion anyway.

So you prefer the sounds of the original strings ?? (Fender strings)
fredericmartin91 2 years ago
Yea, if you can find out what the stock strings are on these basses, get some more of them.
I'm going to try out some Fender Super Bass Round Wound strings soon. Hopefully they sound like the first set.
Who knows though.. try out some flat wounds and see if they feel nice

Sorry to flood your video like that ^^
The original strings are :
FENDER 7250ML
Bass Guitar Strings Set - nickel plated steel, roundwound. Gauges: 045-065-080-100
You should try this one if you want to get the first sound you had when you played your brand new bass ;-)

no worries. I just got a set of that model in 45-105. So it will be perfect!
