youre right he isnt.he is far more talented and a much better dancer.if carlos defected from cuba and claimed political asylum like nureyev or michael did he would have been just as big or an even bigger dance sensation
barishnykov doesnt even have a natural body for ballet
then you dont know anything about ballet...he has a terrible arched back, sticks his ribcage out clenches his feet when he tendus and has about a 45 degree natural turnout
Hmm funny how you say I know nothing about ballet when I am a student at a professional school.
He does not clench his feet- he is simply using his toes. if you just arch your foot when you point its not enough, believe it or not. oh and by the way nobody's perfect. He works with what he has (which is nearly everything a dancer needs except for his height) and thats what everybody likes about him. I dont know how you can put down someone like Daniil. His jumps and pirouettes are amazing.
Videos ARE a really good source but I've also seen them ALL at the Royal Ballet. I actually prefer the women at the royal, but the guys... I'm not really sold on. Daniil is fresh, new talent maybe too good for the Royal Ballet. Im glad he choose ABT.
you dont care so much that you responded to my initial post...(???)
no one said youre not entitled to your opinion but if anyone is going to insult one of the greatest ballet companies on earth, with a rich history,be prepared to to be pulled up on that!
YOUR SUCH A DOUCHE! I don't care enough to argue with you in Daniil's defense. I was definately NOT trying to insult companies in England. The Royal IS my favorite company. Too bad I only favor the women there though.
Because male dancers at ABT are better trickster's (bigger jumps, more turns, powerful combinations... It suits Daniil's talents. I like the Royal because of all the romantic ballets, the Royal work well with it but I just couldn't imagine Daniil in those sort roles like Manon, Mayerling, Onegin... Maybe he'll develop into a romantic actor...
all flash and no substance,if ballet was supposed to be about circus tricks then it would be called a sport not a performing art, besides kumakawa is probably the biggest trickster of them all and he danced for the royal for years.you obviously have no grasp of how huge the companies repertoire is,its not just all ashton and mccmillan ballets, theres influence from everywhere, choo san go,forsythe, tharp, bruce, page,ek,mccgregor, wheeldon, bintley, byrd, kylian, vamos, duarte
I'm very much aware of what these major companies are doing especially the Royal and ABT. All of the choreographer's you just mentioned are more neo-classical and/or contemporary and is why I like the Royal: the diversity. ABT tends to repeat the classic's every year. Boring but true. For Simkin there is a level of talent that comes with maturity and experience that a viruoso should acquire. Point is: Daniil Simkin is very talented. Probably one of the best young talents I've seen lately.
i dont understand you point, the royal ballet does classics over and over too.i wont deny that simkin is a very good dancer, but he is not the best up and coming dancer,he doesnt even make the classical so how can he be so naturally talented as you say?
further more you have no understanding of what it means to be classical dancer,to create emotion or tell a story through dance is where is all originated from.if you cant imagine danill not being able to do ballets like manon then what does that say about him as an artist? pretty limited eh?thats one thing about dancers like edur, acosta kobberg, putrov, they are versatile and can all do the classics as well as the modern or neo classical choreography
LOL! Who cares about being a classical dancer! Obviously in England most "classical" dancers have a stick so far up there asses (arses) they can't do ANYTHING else! American and European dancers and I won't even bother using the term classical in this century because dancers SHOULD BE DIVERSE! Daniil is young, and with my experience I do know artistry comes with life experience too. You can tell a prodigy to do a step and feel this and that but if it's not real... We laugh.
you mention that the choreographers i mentioned are all neo classical and contemporary and then you go on to accuse english of not being able to do anything other classical ballet! what a contradiction...lol
i would love to see simkim attempt something by alvin ailey or paul taylor ,he would look totally out of place, where as acosta would suit their choreography perfectly
I think ABT needs him right now... His look, talent, character... You must like him... Because you care soooooo much as to why he's not at the Royal LOL. Maybe because I'm American, he should be here.
i dont care that he is not in the royal ballet,i dont care what he does,he doesnt interest me at all.i find him boring and dull, nothing we havent seen a million times before
as i said abt can have him...but if you do respond to what i write i will out of courtesy respond to you
the one thing doesnt make sense is how youre trying to change my opinion, are you not confident in your own conviction of him as a dancer that you need the support of everyone else to make you feel better about it?
YOUR INSANE! Clearly youre not a professioanl dancer. Clearly you haven't danced a day in your life. Clearly you care SO MUCH about dogging a TALENTED dancer not to mention, OK, HE'S GOOD. Give it to him. You should get a life... You remind me of those people BITTER because they didn't make it into the professional world, so they dish-out shit on the working and most gifted folks. HA!!! Let's see what you can do babe... NOTHING.
great comeback,i corner you and you call me bitter cause i have an opinion.last time i checked i lived in a free country where i can like or dislike whoever and whatever i want.i am also not here to prove myself as i am not the one who is posting videos for public adulation.the reality is simkin is a good dancer, but he isnt the best thing since sliced bread, nothing the dance world hasnt seen a million times before.sorry if that pisses on your parade!
i have one thank you very much,i am 100 % positive that i have a pulse and that im breathing.dont know why youre getting so angry, everyone who comments on youtube is voicing their opinion and just because ours differ, you chose to become hostile.why is that? are you fundamentally malevolent?
dont you think the world would be rather boring if we all shared the same opinion and ideals? variety is the spice of life :)
@magicalgrasshopper You said it yourself " variety is the spice of life :) ", so shouldn't we be celebrating Daniil because he is a variation from Carlos or Roberto Bollo...? He is a wonderful dancer and great because he is different, as with every great dancer out there :). Just wanted to add that, i know you commented over a year ago but i hope you see this! >_<''. Have a good day :) :)
@magicalgrasshopper (Like bowed legs and not totally whacked arches? I sort of see where you are coming from.). No, he doesn't have Roberto Bollo or Carlos Acosta's pure, princely elegance EXACTLY. His type is different. I love it. A lot of people do. And you're right, you don't have to (obviously).
I just find him very intriguing. I think he has something different that is really special.
@secretme127 physicality aside,as an artist i find him extremely dull and boring.he isnt graceful in a masculine way and he doesnt make ballet look beautiful.even as a virtuosse dancer who can do all the big tricks.he doesnt excite me and usually i love seeing someone pull off amazing tricks
that is just my opinion, you have a different one which of course youre entitled to
its good because the world would be rather boring if we all liked the same things
@magicalgrasshopper BS! my god, ive never heard anything more wrong. i'm sorry. i just cant wrap my head around that, i know we're all entitled to our own oppinions. but what if you're oppinions SUCK? i'm really sorry, i just had to say this. and if he doesn't excite you, i dont know what does.
@magicalgrasshopper sorry but he is more beautiful than carlos acosta!!! simkin has beautiful lines and legs and dosent look like a monkey like acosta.
have you ever done pointe? i know it's strange because most guys don't go on pointe but some roles require pointe, but your arches are amazing! I've done pointe for over a year and I still can't get my arches even close to as good as yours!

well videos dont do them justice.i wont deny simkin is technically good, but he bores me to death, plus i dont find his dancing beautiful
there is NO WAY he is on par with acosta, edur, kobberg or putrov
