Nice pin! I agree that Gottlieb was an underdog when it comes to pinball machines, but they made a couple of very nice machines. I own a Stargate (next to a couple of Bally/Williams machines) and I love it. And IMHO Gottlieb pins have higher quality than Bally/Williams machines. Just take a look at the wiring and boards in the head: WMS is like spaghetti with all the boards crammed in between, while Gottlieb has a very clear layout. WMS machines have more technical problems too IMO.
man ive played this game in a emulator and im tryingto come to terms with the fact id probably never play it in person but DAMN i love it! that 3 point shot in real life must be amazing to make haha
Its a good idea to keep the following in mind. When it comes to pinball machines, don't confuse popularity with greatness. Remember ADDAMS FAMILY PINBALL? Everything about that game screamed mediocrity, but it became the best selling pinball in the world! However some of the best, most groundbreaking pinball machines, (from Bally /Williams, Data East /Sega / Stern and yes...Gottlieb / Premier) never got the recognition they really deserved.
@Lyubefan I agree, BUT only from the standpoint that it would mean that we were back in a time when pinball was still very popular, there were many manufacturers, and a lot of great titles coming out.
Premier/Gottlieb put out some of the most horrendous, crappy pins ever made. The artwork was typically terrible, bad sound and gameplay, and overall poor design.
This is coming from someone that has owned pins from 11 different manufacturers. Stern, Capcom, Bally/Williams just blow them away.
@hydeandseak2 Many premiers like Stargate and big hurt were much better than most WMS! They made crappy games like waterworld and raven and streetfighter too! I actually think that most WMS-Bally pins are way overrated, see Midlevel and monotonous...- Medieval madness A lot of DATA Easts were not that bad, OK, Lethal weapon II was just horrendous- worst DATA EAST. But even they managed to make good pins out of bad themes- Last Action hero!
