  • He's just trying to make parrot couches, or pouches. Maybe it's ecletus couch, or eclouches.... or something.

  • What do you care? Humans do it, so why cant a bird? o-O

  • Humans don't do it all the time and I've never had one do it on my shoulder or the back of my hand. It's a bit nuts.

  • You could get him a mate, but then you might have baby parrots. But I wouldnt try to stop him, it helps them release stress, just like a human.

I have a male cockatiel, but ive never seen him do it. o-O

  • He has a mate but she's still too young and he seems to prefer everything except for her. She preens the back of his head while he's doing it even lol

  • Hey there.

    Grate pair you got there.

My little girl dose that (red-sided) too..to me..

    Really imbarassing.

I work at a pet shop and she is there with me at all time..and this one time I was trying to get her off me when she was..well masturbating on my chest..

And this lady came up to me with her 5 year old kid and said "oooh how sweet. what I good parrot hugging you like this"

My words were lost, I just smiled.

    One day my eclectus stopped.

She just dose this in the seicing time.

  • AWE... i have a video of my amazon doing the same thing. It's a good thing that you try to stop it unless you want your pair to breed eventually, which can be quite a task. Beautiful pair of ekkies you have their!

  • Thanks!

  • nice man

  • Lmao!!!! my male does this too... but only on my boyfriends chest... which i find hilarious the poor thing..(the parrot).. im now getting him a girlfriend to stop the confusion... but he is now also vomiting his food and attempting to feed it my boyfriend.... not quite so funny as it smells...

  • Well I have a girlfriend with him there in the video and he ignores her.

  • Your bird thinks of you as his mate.

  • i did not kno tats how birds do it lmao wow i learn somethin new today:]

  • i dont thnk u can stop it. You can stop a humen or other animals from there sexual hormoans.

  • i never thought i would see it......masterbating parrot

  • heh not laughing at your rudeness, laughing at your inability to type

  • Im curious how your parrot is doing, did any of the advice you recieved help at all?

  • Ignoring it and it no longer being spring seems to work. He's not trying to get busy with our hands / shoulders / etc quite as much.

  • Im very glad to hear he is getting better. If he does try to get busy on any part of your body try to remember to put him down right away, dont scold him, just put him down on his playstand or his cage. Good luck with your very beautiful bird!!

  • It's a completely natural behavior. We have a cockatiel who "mates" with us (on our shoulder). Just showing you he loves you, that's all.

  • I think what is most surprising about the video you have is that your male parrot has a female nearby! My parrot does not have this luxury. We always joke that our male Eclectus needs red bird. Perhaps even that is not the solution! Even though I love my parrot very much I think that this behavior exhibits why parrots do not make good pets. Dogs & cats can be altered, birds cannnot.

  • don't be mad or disgusted, he is just going through his sexual maturity. just wait a couple years LOL

  • lol....awesome

  • you need a girlfriend

  • this video had gave me some doubts in buying a male eclectus parrot.

  • Todd and kittikatz have given you great advice. Also you want to check the cage to clear away any items that might stimulate mating behavior. Most importantly...if this is very frequent behavior get him to an Avian Vet for a full check up. Good luck!

  • Boys and their toys

  • I have an Amazon and she gets busy during April and May mainly. I don't think there's much you can do. Maybe a mate??

  • First, remove the blanket so he dosn't have th stimulation of it. Next, when he does this to you just place him on his playstand for a time out. Spring will be over soon ans he should settle down.

  • Be sure to just ignore this behaviour to make it decrease (ignoring meaning don't try to stop it). This is a natural behaviour--something displaced from the jungle. Does Misha do this year-round, or only during a certian season?
