  • He wasn't taking any sides. He truely said that companys can do what they want. Say this company fires a gay guy. He then gets unemloyment for a great time. My point is your all getting this all wrong.

  • That's ridiculous. Why should a gay person have to bounce from a job, even multiple jobs, for something totally unrelated to work? That's not justice at all. And currently, employers cannot do this to people based on their employees' race, gender, religion, national origin, or disability.

  • a boss can fire any worker for any or no reason

  • That "earpiece" thing might be true. There was a delay before he answered.

  • Homophobia what it int homophobia u should be abe to fire the f who u want.If I owned a store I should be able to fire who I want when I want.

  • I know this was posted some time ago, but I'll make it clear where "lilbjjjj" is going wrong. If someone is fired who is COINCIDENTALLY gay or lesbian, that IS NOT homophobia. If someone is fired BECAUSE they are gay or lesbian, that IS homophobia. It would be every bit as ludicrous to fire someone for being black or Christian.

  • Thompson represents homophobia America well and that's why he has only 2% of the vote. Any man who >campaigns< on allowing business to fire someone because of who they love does not prepresent Americans or our values.

  • What's embarrassing is that he flip-flopped and admits that he believes that businesses should not be allowed to fire employees if they want to. His original statement was the right one, but he apparently misunderstood the question and inadvertently advanced pro-freedom when he's anti-freedom.

  • tommy says he had to take a sh*t and was squeezing his ass cheeks so tight, he did not know what he was saying. what a liar!!!

  • He doesn't look like he is suffering from any cold or flu to me...doesn't look to be in too great a need to leave the stage either. he does however look like a giant fool..

  • such a shame,

He's the only person so far who has a clue as to what to do with Iraq. But he won't win the election with THAT blurb, nor will he win my support as a voter.

I hope one of the other canidates (from either party) picks up upon Thompson's "vote for legimatacy in Iraq"/Federaliation policy.

  • I completely agree with you. I wish Barack would support it. It puzzles me why he has not, and the idea is NOT EVEN DISCUSSED. Even Mahr laughed his way

through this idea instead of exploring it.

  • What a moron. I'm embarassed that he comes from my state.

  • wow...i can't belive he said that...i think it's over for him!!!

  • The primary purpose of Government is to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It's all laid out in the constitution, perhaps you should read it sometime, or at least the preamble. @SaltyPig, if you think different, perhaps better to express your opposing viewpoint, rather than try to silence opposition.

  • The comment section on this thing shows that the Left is even worst than the Right and the Right is messed up already...Liberty for ALL...Market Anarchism is the way to go...if you want your government, you are FREE to form you own voluntary government or collectivist commune...

  • Libertarians are a bunch of f**king morons, I disrespect them more than I do the Right. Their entire political ideology lies on the belief in a free market, which exists just about as much as unicorns do.

  • idiot. he's done. it's blatant discrimination.

  • yeah he's done!!!

  • The Leftists are the not "Liberal" at all...they are just as bad or even worst than the Rightists.

  • Thankfully this IDIOT just ruined his chances of being President.

  • Why, do you say that...it is freedom of association. I am a Libertarian, everyone has natural rights to their life, liberty, and property. His position is totally respectable. It is a private business decision.

  • Should private business be able to fire someone for being a certain gender or race?

  • Absolutely

  • wow, he just killed his shot to get the vote from ca and maybe NY.

  • Why, do you say that...it is freedom of association. I am a Libertarian, everyone has natural rights to their life, liberty, and property. His position is totally respectable. It is a private business decision.

  • ok, so if I don't want to have someone work for me just becose he is black thats ok? little to much, ok. What about a girl who is going to have a kid? its ok for me to fire her, she chose to have a kid right! or am I missing something here.

  • the market would fix problems like that...actually, I am going to change the subject...I am going to send you a piece of legislation that both the far right and the far left are backing and I would like to know your opinion on it.

  • ok, would love to see it.

  • The American Security Act thig yea, this is something that would never, never happen. Only the extreme sides of both parties would back yes, but really it will never happen. I like to deal with real world stuff and this is not one of them.

  • Most people dont understand that under the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. § 2302) and Executive Order 11478 makes it a crime to fire someone over there Sexual orientation or anything Conduct not adversely affecting job performance. but yet people still think that under us law you can fire someone if they are gay.
