I don't agree. This guy and Florez have 2 totally different fachs, Florez being a belcanto. Being a belcanto myself I recognize the difference. They are both amazing nonetheless, but this aria has become an "all fachs" aria. If you have a good high C you will end up singing this aria sometime. The high C is something different for every fach of tenor.
Sir, Have you ever heard of Franco Corelli. Mario Del Manoco,, Claude Heater, Franco Bonisolli just to name a few who sing with a Melocchi Technique or a Baritonal sound? They sang like Baritones BUT had a great full ringing top Not like some of the insipid sounds of so called opera singers whose voices could not fill an auditorium. This Young Chinese Tenor has been put on the right path vocally;therefore, Has great High notes. LEARN to sing sono1Tenore.

This is a great voice. He butchers the French though. And the video and the sound are a hair off so you see his mouth move before the sound comes out. I hate that! All in all pretty good.

needs to sing more legato... this piece is by Donizetti - BEL CANTO = legato ... also agree on the diction and perhaps not 'pushing' his head forward when he reaches the high notes... probably that sums up what i've got to say about this clip... technique wise i think he's almost there :)

The pianist sucks, the tempi are oldfashioned, on two or three places he sings under the notes, acts artificially and arrogantly which does not justice to the aria. He performs it as some nobleman and does not let any charm go out. He sings beautifully indeed, but this aria requires more stage presence, which explains the negative comments.

Actually he is much better than Pavarotti. Pavarotti's version was a studio product, not a LIVE performance. If you listened to Pavarotti's 1969 LIVE performance, you will hear that most of his High Cs were stuck in throat and small in terms of the size.
Yang Yang's performance is really really outstanding!
Not like Pavarotti whenhe sings this aria. He will take the breath out of you. But this guy is not so bad...but he like most of the tenors is pusching the High notes, I think it is only Pavarotti who can do it without pusching the high notes
Definetely not this guy singing. That's kind of shady to put yourself off as an amazing voice. The lips don't move correctly and the concentration of the face is not there. Whoever sang this has wonderful technique including lifted pallats, "long breathing" and lifting of cheekbones to access resonators. What a douche.
Well someone deserves a lot of credit for singing this and though my sound/image was out of sync I played it several times over bigger speakers and ignored the video and by darkening the sound it seemed to make his voice wider. Anyway, I'd agree that this young fellow will be heard from around the world. Great that you got this up!

needs to sing more legato... this piece is by Donizetti - BEL CANTO = legato ... also agree on the diction and perhaps not 'pushing' his head forward when he reaches the high notes... probably that sums up what i've got to say about this clip... technique wise i think he's almost there :)

i doubt if he himself reads this but anyway
a) new accompianist
b) hes got some pallette and nasal tension
c) don't go dramatic on pieces like this - vocal stress is immense. sing it light and get the notes and its just as impressive - of course open up at the end, but there is no need t sing the little notes large and dramatic

If only tenors in the west would sing like this more people would go to the opera, and not walk out in the middle of performances, its sur that he needs a bit of coaching for pronounciation, but technically hes very good!!!!

The pianist sucks, the tempi are oldfashioned, on two or three places he sings under the notes, acts artificially and arrogantly which does not justice to the aria. He performs it as some nobleman and does not let any charm go out. He sings beautifully indeed, but this aria requires more stage presence, which explains the negative comments.

Prima di tutto, la pianista deve imparare a rimanere sempre a tempo e non fare le sue propi arrangamenti, secondo quel " GRANDE TENORE cinese" :-( dovrebbe imparare la lingua francese e solo cosí verra lo STILE quello che qui poco si puoe vedere e sentire.
in questa aria ..A MES AMI non solo é importante la serie di DO.
caro tenore ascolta piú al Maestro ALfredo Kraus o al grande Rockwell Black.che loro sono veramente GRANDI tenori.

Please correct the title of the video to "Pour mon ame" because you do not show the actual aria "Ah, mes amis." Or take the video down all together, because this guy is horrible.

uh. . .people. . if this fellow is singing this aria I will turn in my AGMA card tomorrow. Oops. Forgot, I did that 20 years ago back when I was singing this aria, and TRUST ME, he is NOT singing it. PLUS if he did sing like what we are hearing, he soulc not be doing a recital with piano. . he would be at La Scala, which likely is where the tenor actually singing it sings!

he is most likely singing. When I have posted clips here there is often a lag between the video and the audio if they aren't in the right format. And I have heard some spectacular Chinese singers of this caliber in competitions and opera houses around the world, and sung with several as well. He sounds fantastic and I wish him the best.

for the way he pronounces the french the singer could certanñy be a chinese but it´s true that the video is not synchroniced with the audio. That raices some doubts bout the singer.

Actually he is much better than Pavarotti. Pavarotti's version was a studio product, not a LIVE performance. If you listened to Pavarotti's 1969 LIVE performance, you will hear that most of his High Cs were stuck in throat and small in terms of the size.
Yang Yang's performance is really really outstanding!

Not like Pavarotti whenhe sings this aria. He will take the breath out of you. But this guy is not so bad...but he like most of the tenors is pusching the High notes, I think it is only Pavarotti who can do it without pusching the high notes

Definetely not this guy singing. That's kind of shady to put yourself off as an amazing voice. The lips don't move correctly and the concentration of the face is not there. Whoever sang this has wonderful technique including lifted pallats, "long breathing" and lifting of cheekbones to access resonators. What a douche.

Well someone deserves a lot of credit for singing this and though my sound/image was out of sync I played it several times over bigger speakers and ignored the video and by darkening the sound it seemed to make his voice wider. Anyway, I'd agree that this young fellow will be heard from around the world. Great that you got this up!

Ummm... It's actually a problem some people have with uploading videos onto youtube. He's certainly not lip-synching, it's just that the image of the video is not in synch with the audio.
