It does not look like the question and response I submitted yesterday was accepted.  Well all I can say is awesome. I am trying to figure out the logic (theory) for some of the substitute chord choices. Awesome.

Knowing various chords is important if you want to vary your style, vary your interpretation, etc. For the sake of simplicity, try playing any song the way you would normally play it. Then play it again, only this time, keep the melody at the top of your chord structure (keep the melody on your right pinky finger). You can do this while playing regular root chords (even in other keys), sus chords or whatever.

The idea though is to keep the melody at the top, and as long as you are playing actual chords, it will work.

I have been playing a long time and have been told I play well; your video as well as some others continually brings me to the point of this statement and question: I often simply memorize progressions similar to yours but without logic. Could you give a breakdown about your logic in some instances of choosing all those awesome substitutions at a certain points in the melody beyound the I,IV,V etc.?
