There is still people reflected in this picture in somewhere in earth. With that alone I am impressed whether there is that I thought about such a thing.
Great performance. I also play the principal tenor horn in a brassband from the Netherlands. I'd like to play this piece with our band. Where can I get the sheet music of it? Please respond me!
Vickie, it's probably been a while since this was posted. I hope you are still playing the tenor horn. Not because it is a tenor horn, but because you play with a lot of sincerity. Nothing else matters -- nothing -- when you are able to play with real sincerity. The camera work and editing was as good as your performance, and it took all of you to put this over with the equipment you had. This was an absolutely world-class job, and I hope you are inspired to do a few more vids like this.
Con't (sorry for the double post) This young lady embodies all of the emotional aspects on the TH as a TENOR HORN. i hope to attempt the same, albeit in an more improvisitory context, with the occasional Arban's melodies. Very fine emotional control, clams and all, over a simple arrangement. And the video captures her mise-en-scene for all of us to see. i sincerely hope to hear more from this player. Best wishes, Dr. Michael Missiras
am an early retired U prof in the States now living in Paris. I am a trumpet player, and added Bb/Eb cornet 3 years ago. Last Sept., after thinking a lot, I added the tenor horn to the mix. I really don't want to hear about puffed cheeks-i want to hear good music performed well. I've listened to a fair amount of White/Farr and what i hear is cornet on the TH. This piece of music, clams and all is from the heart-all of the jazz altered notes in the arr. are heard by this young lady.

I was debating whether to start the trumpet, the trombone, or the tenor horn. After this video, I am totally going for the tenor horn! What an inspiration!
I play cornet but my brass teacher says if i want to i can change and do tenor horn instead because the mouthpiece is bigger and I am not fitting my whole mouth into the mouthpiece or something :)
This video was not added to be compared to or compete with other Tenor Horn Solos, and purely for the enjoyment of the listener. Thank you for listening to my "REAL" Tenor Horn Solo.
If you look at who loaded this it wasn't I that has uploaded video. And if you were to read through other comments you would realise I don't mind criticism at all, I just didn't appreciate you implying that my tenor horn solo or performance was not a 'real' one.... :o)
okay.. let's make it clear.. those instrument tuned to Eb are in the register of alto treble, no matter what kind of instrument they are.. for instance that sax tuned to Eb called alto sax ( one octave lower> bariton sax ) .. the expression of ,,alto tenor'' itself doesen't make sense.. alto and tenor are different things... alto is above tenor... right? other examples> alto trombone is in Eb .. it is not tenor tormbone.. alt sax is not tenor sax.. alt horn is not tenor horn :)
Correct!! Not sure why the argument below but the Alto Horn and Tenor Horn are the same instrument, just called different things in different countries.
That was really nice, but why do so many players hold their horns in the laziest way possible? It's not like it weighs 30lbs. You've got two hands for a reason. Hold it up.
For me personally, I went straight to a professional model, especially if you are considering to purchase one yourself. There is a tendancy to outgrow an intermediate one for most, so I would suggest looking at a professional sovereign model personally. Maybe go into a supplier or look around first, it's all about personal preference really.
Hey Vicky, nice playing. What was this footage part of? A tour / CD recording? And is that Perth in the background? The band sounds great. What year was it recorded? Bruce Myers
Recording was from a performance on the ABC Radio, live broadcast, and the footage was taken throughout the recording and at out local pizza place down the road from the band room. And not Perth I'm afraid....it is the Melbourne. Recorded in 2004 while I was living over there for a short time. Now living back home in New Zealand.
Nope, puffing cheeks is forbidden! But, it's better to continue with it if you have been doing so .. since you started. It's just unnecessary cuz you have to train some muscler just for nothing (I think xD).
I have been playing trumpet for seven and I thought this was an amazing performance. Even though I am not in the heavy brass section, I loved the way the solo was played out with the tenor.
she needs to control he cheeks when playing, she puffs them out rather than keeping them in. A professional will always do this. Good song though, well played. I play tenor horn, been playing for 5 years
i play french hron and tenor horn ...... their both completly different. but its interesting to play both of then because im in a military band, a brass band , and an orchestra. shes pretty good. i have that tenor horn myself . i was playing a besson student "gold brass" but the soverign is sooo much better.
Hi, thanks for your correction. I sure hope you're right. I really enjoyed the video and from past playing experience would hate to know she put in so much work only to have it tainted like that. I had an accident that messed up the right side of my mouth so I can't play anymore but I really like the sound of the alto in the hands of someone who plays well like she does. Again, a fine solo performance!
You made Hoagy proud. With that tone, you could really go places. Here in Nashville, we have a Jazz club which features a Jazz Bassoon. Your horn would be welcome anytime. Thank you dear.

Aslong as she has control and it sounds this good, what does it matter? Dizzy Gillespie sure didn't keep his cheeks in.
