26 people are mad because they figured out "scooter" really means "motorcycle" and not the thing they've been riding with the flower decals & basket on the front.
Saw them in concert when I was a kid. Now that I'm an old guy, Bad Motor Scooter makes my Vette go fast, but Space Station #5 makes it go really fast. Hagar, back then know as Sam, owes it big time to Ronnie.
Actually this is Sammy Hagar with Montrose. It was Ronnie's band and Sammy was the lead singer.........and a fine one at that!! Montrose rocked on many tunes with Sammy!!
Absolutely superb stuff. I've been listening to Montrose since I was 14 and still love them to this day - 27 years later! Everyone I mention them to has never heard of them which is strange because they are just a brilliant rock and roll band.
@rallyivan1234 Nah, that's Bill Church on bass. Bill would jam with Sammy Hagar again during (the late 70's to mid 80's period of) Sammy's solo career.
@rallyivan1234 Nah, that's Bill Church on bass. Bill would jam with Sammy Hagar again during (the late 70's to mid 80's period of) Sammy's solo career.
Saw Sammy at Winterland back in 77 I think. KSJO 10th Anniversary. That concert blew me away, and it happened to be my 1st. Some of the tracks on his RED album were recorded there.
50 years old now and still some of the best music ever made! Glad I was at the right place right time to have seen that show!
@bclark142 I envy you that you got to see Sammy Hagar with Bill Church on bass way back then. One-half of the original Montrose lineup, right there! You were indeed in the right place at the right time! I finally got to see Sammy with the Waboritas this year (2011), and they did a Montrose medley of "Bad Motor Scooter"/"Space Station #5"/"Rock Candy". When I saw Van Halen w/ Sammy back in '92, they did "Make It Last". Saw original Montrose drummer Denny Carmassi with Heart in 1985.
It's even better then that. Special guests included Ronnie Montrose, Neil Schon, Eddie Money. They all jammed together at one time along with Sammy. I was also under the influence of several "mind altering substances".
I would kill to relive that night. Very special indeed! =)
@bclark142 Wow, Ronnie Montrose, Bill CHurch, Sammy Hagar, Neil Schon, and Eddie Money all on the same stage the same night--and a good buzz on, to boot!! Bclark52, I sure don't blame you for wanting to relive a night like that one!

Hey folks, if you want to hear a retro band heavily influence by montrose, hagar then type in L.A. Ryder "We're the Outcasts" and hear some unreleased stuff fresh off of quarter inch analog reel!!
sam the man on fire. Now this how I remember the early days of Heavy Metal and not all this depressing Sab talk. I always enjoyed this kinda feel as it never makes me feel down. Bands like Slade, Nazareth, and Montrose all had awesome loud front men that few of us could emulate as kids. This piece of film is testament to what once was and God willing may come again. Pure power with lots of volume and balls. God bless you Sammy and Ronnie forever.
How sad is it this generation will never experience quality music and what effect will that have on them in later life ....aside form being toal social misfits of course ?
This the genuine article. No effects, synth, overdubbing, just great musicians. They didn't even need a second guitar. Kids should watch this so that they know what musicianship really is.
@beautyinbreakdowns2 Yes sir ree bob!! I started playing instruments in 1976 at a time when music was REAL. Glad I had the opportunity that most these kids will never know. If you wanted to be good, you practiced, not auto-tuned or search for tabs, you listened by ear and learned that shit!!
@beautyinbreakdowns2 They didn't need a second guitar player cause they had a Bassist that could really play a Bass...go figure. In total agreement with you....KIDS PAY ATTENTION!
sammy hagar is one of my fave musicians, no matter if with Montrose, Van Halen or solo. he is brilliant in his writing and performing, and an all around great guy. I got to meet him and his band "Chickenfoot" when they released their first album, and i am trying to wait patiently for the one currently being recorded. Straight up rock and roll is what Sammy is all about, and i love it!
Saw Montrose open up for KISS in 1976. I left after the first song of KISS. What a laugh... Paul Stanley whipped a chain of Lights that traced upward to the roof and B))M! BOOM! BOOM!
Its spelled "Megadeth" and I've learned that in life there's no accounting for other people's tastes. I love thrash metal but I also love jazz, funk, classical anything with good songwriting. i know that Dave Mustaine of Megadeth and previously Metallica fame loves Montrose. Metallica actually covered this song very early on.
its funny to me how people who love iron maiden, judas priest, metallica, megadeath,, & whatever shitty metal/hair band you can think of from the 80's,,,,,,,, love old rock!.,,,bands of the 80's were mostly sellouts to get free pussy, drugs, alcohal,,,but 90 percent of bands of yesterday & today would do the same thing to be famous!,, blame the system, for the sorry state music is in today my god! motown & funk in the 70's was some of the best music! ever,,, today,,, black artists(cRAP,R&B) suck!
I consider Montrose one of those bands trying to take back what was originally American property. I love British rock but it always seemed, by a small percentage, pretend. Pretending to be like the greats of Rock n Roll.
@NonStopRocker You left out a host of other bands. The beatles, the stones, the who, and etc. Yeah, they were all trying to be like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly initially. BTW I never considered cream and Led zepplin pure R&R. More like hard blues. (except for "anyone for tennis".) Black Sabbath? They never pretended. They were their own "thing" seperate from any other. Infact, you could say Iron Maiden and Priest were following them.
@mindeloman Yea....Sabbath pretented. That is the stupidest comment I've ever read. You are no doubt the most retarded person on the face of the planet. You make Forrest Gump look like Stephen Hawking. I will forever share with people that I have met the stupidest person alive.

i hope you sued that asshole gary moore for nicking your guitar there was noway he did not know it was nicked gary moore was scum . HE EVEN GOT SUED $2 MILLON FOR SAYING HE WORTE STILL GOT THE BLUES and he fucked up the best band in the world THINLIZZY
@yorkshiretractors Gary never responded to the lawsuit, as he bought the guitar legitimately, and Ronnie was never able to pursue the case . Gary Moore was not scum. Where did you get your info about Still Got The Blues? And as much as I loved Thin Lizzy, Gary did not fuck the band up; Phil and Scott's heroin use did (and they freely admitted that).

@jonnysocko
Britney Spears sold lots more CDs/records than Montrose. Does that make Britney "better"?

A fella of your advanced eclectic nature should be investing his time finding, cleaning and dusting off obscure Rupert's People albums.

HA!
"dude", hate to break it to you, but "Bad Motor Scooter" by Montrose is not for "grownups". Anything related to Sammy Hagar is teenage music.
But my guess is you've been trapped in retarded adolescence since age 15. At least you got that GED though.

what a career Sammy. Just watched ChickenFoot Live. He does not mess around when it comes to a supporting cast.

i hope you sued that asshole gary moore for nicking your guitar there was noway he did not know it was nicked gary moore was scum . HE EVEN GOT SUED $2 MILLON FOR SAYING HE WORTE STILL GOT THE BLUES and he fucked up the best band in the world THINLIZZY
yorkshiretractors 11 months ago
@yorkshiretractors Gary never responded to the lawsuit, as he bought the guitar legitimately, and Ronnie was never able to pursue the case . Gary Moore was not scum. Where did you get your info about Still Got The Blues? And as much as I loved Thin Lizzy, Gary did not fuck the band up; Phil and Scott's heroin use did (and they freely admitted that).

The albums Montrose and Paper Money with the group Montrose are in my opinion the best rock albums whatsoever.

Lame-brained boogie rawk. Dry, boring, cliched AOR. 70's rock really doesn't get any worse than this... LMAO...
