    You cant get fat from eating fat! Its basic physiology.

    Read about blood sugar and insuline and you will get the picture.

  • Hey, my grandma and my mom put chocolate chips in their banana bread...they mix in like a cup or half cup or something of choc. chips, then they put some chopped walnuts in it as well, very yummy

  • Bad eggs stinkkkkk! Really bad.

    Another cool way to check is by putting them in water. Good eggs will sink, while the bad ones float because of the gas inside it. Not a very trusted method though

  • It's a quarter cup, calm the heck down. It's lowER fat. Full fat banana bread uses like a full cup. Apple Sauce is used to make it low fat. Low fat doesn't mean fat free. Besides, fat free stuff all the time is bad for you. You need a some healthy fat in your diet. Most recipes can substitute margarine for butter, but I'm not sure if that would work with this one. Regardless, a quarter cup of butter is not the end of the world!

    my dad's girlfriend's kitchen is the exact same format. but the counters are white, and the walls are yellow.oh, and the cabinets are light brown. but the stove is in the same spot, the counters are in the same spot. that's sorta weird.. haha

  • My grandpa just got out of the hospital for heart surgery, and he's also a diabetic who loves sweets. Do you think you might know of a recipe for something sweet that contains low sugar that you can't really tell that the sugar is absent so that I can bake him something and he won't be so miserable?

  • Look on-line for some diabetic recipes. They will have the exact amounts you need and can guide you much better than I can on this. Thanks for watching. Take good care of that Grandpa......

  • The real question is how many carbs can he have at a meal? Is he injecting for each meal, using a pump, or on pills?

    I'm a Type 1 diabetic and I think the easiest dessert is sugar-free chocolate pudding in mini graham cracker bowls. Or even sugar-free fudge pops!

  • I'm not quite sure, I know he used to take the pill and now he's trying the insulin shot, but I'm not exactly sure if he's still doing that. He's a type 2, I believe.

  • You've mentioned a few times about cracking eggs in a separate dish as to not ruin your recipe with a bad egg. I hate to be ignorant, but what constitutes a "bad" egg and how can you tell if it's bad? Thanks for all the great recipes! :)

    It will look bloody.

  • Blood spots (also referred to as "meat" spots) don't signify a bad or fertilized egg. It's caused by a ruptured blood vessel during the formation of the egg. Since blood spots are diluted as the egg ages, their presence actually means you have a fresh egg. You can eat it safely, or remove the blood spot with the tip of a knife, if it makes you feel better

  • The way I tell if an egg is bad is I fill a cup with water and I put the egg in the water, and if it floats, it's bad. If it sinks, it's all good to use.

  • Hi Mary you wanted the flax seed pita bread recipe. preheat oven 500degrees.

    Bread machine; into it 3 cups water

    7 scant cups bread flour, one palm of yeast (approx 2 Tbs.) 1tbs salt ,1tbs sug, 1/4 cup flaxseed, 1/4cup wheat germ. place on dough setting and let it to its thing...roll into 2 logs.. squeeze off balls of dough about 3 -4 inches round.. roll flat and place on a hot pizza stone..bake till brown. voila!.. it has such wonderful benefits and you will feel a difference in your energy

  • this may seem stupid but what is a bad egg?

  • Not stupid - it's probably a sign you haven't had one! A bad egg will (usually) smell bad, and taste worse. If you crack your egg and the yolk comes out all watery and 'leaking' into the white (assuming you haven't broken the yolk on something sharp, that's a good sign you've got a bad one. Also, if put in water (before you break it) a bad egg will float. Good eggs will sink, an egg that is a week old will lie on the bottom & bob slightly. It's to do with the amount of sulphur in the egg.

  • I think I will try and make these as muffins once the recipe is up. I love banana bread and in muffin form it would be so much easier to grab in the morning to take to work.

  • The only thing is to not over bake them. A muffin is not going to take the baking time as bread so, you will have to keep an eye on it. Thanks....Mary

    3 mashed overly ripe bananas

    3/4 c. brown sugar (packed)

    +baking powder and baking soda.

    =( i thought i could help out with the recipe but i guess not.

    Bake at 350 for an hour.
