meh mkIV are too heavy but they are nicer looking than the mk3. i see people hit 60 in about 6.2 stock on the mk3's. i have a gutted mk3 jetta with just intake and cat back exhaust and i hit 60 in 5.5 seconds my car weighs about 500 pounds less thou than the mkIV now...

the Mkivs are definitly on the heavy side, however they do have a fair amount of room for weight reduction. fun cars to tweak around with though (just on the expensive side)

@atreyuthewarrior the VR6 clutch is one of the stronger production car clutches out there (at least in the sports sedan segment) and is rated to handle 300 ft lbs of torque. beating the clutch isn't the thing to worry about - it's breaking the transmission (the 5-speed has many weakpoints). put a 6-speed in (with hardened bolts replacing the rivets on the shift fork) and you can beat on that all you like without having any problems.
