  • SHUT UP KID!!!

  • you wouldn't no what a bad track look like only why the track goes up and down because its ment to flex when the train goes over it cause if it didn't flex the it would had snapped maybe you should know what your talking about before you start to post

  • That line was owned by the Illinois Central until 1983 when it was sold to some investors who named it The Indiana Railroad. 1995 CSX bought the majority of the stock in the railroad but it's owned and operated by the Indiana Railroad.. The line to the west that runs thru Camby, Mooresville, cenerton, and Martinsville is owned by Rail America Bought from Conrail and operated under the name Indiana Southern...

  • Nice, steady, sharp video!

Track is really OK. Nothing unusual or bad abouthat amount of sinking.

Grade crossing signals or just crsoobucks signs? Always nice to first pan around and show everyone the area.

Why did he sound the horn the third time?

  • track is fine the pumping of the rail is normal on jointed rail.

  • I wouldn't say that's bad track, just a bit raised up off the ties, and is pressed down by the weight of the train as it rolls over it. Also, great Leslie on that unit and cool Penn Central boxcar at 2:02

  • He goosed it up? that aint no bad track

  • He goosed it up?

  • it would be nice if you didnt talk through the whole thing....anyways nice vid

  • You want bad track? Trying finding the PC video from 1974 that they sent to Congress. It has the Petersburg Secondary on it. If you don't know what that is, that's the line that runs from Evansville to Indianapolis. THAT is bad track.

  • @claimless Isn't that the Southern Indiana line? Certainly not bad anymore.

  • @Boss302fan Yeah. Indiana Southern I think.

And no, It's not bad anymore. It's better maintained. PC couldn't maintain anything at all since they were bankrupt.

  • @claimless I stand corrected. Indiana Southern. Ages ago I did some consulting and "hi-railed" the line several times. Pretty decent tonnage for a line in bad shape. It was Conrail at the time as I recall with a lot of coal going to power plants in Indy.

  • @Boss302fan Yeah. Conrail made SURE those tracks would never ever get like that again. And then either Conrail or CSX, can't remember which, leased the line to Indiana Southern to take care of it. I want to say CSX, but I'm not going to stand behind that 100%.

  • @claimless It was a sale instead of a lease. . I hi-railed the lines for one of the bidders. Rail America ended up as the owner and from the last I heard they do really well with it.

  • @Boss302fan Ahh, I wasn't sure. I just knew CSX didn't have the line anymore. They do switch an industry or two on it, I THINK. But they make sure to keep it maintained well for IPL's coal trains.

  • jajaja shut up!!! nice video!

  • Jointed Rail does this. A bit better drainage, you're good. But it looks to be in somewhat good shape.

  • the way i see it if an engine is prodosing smoke it means its actually working hard

  • american trains are waaay too looong!!! :o

  • that red paint is just awsome looks really good with the white :) great vid

  • I like how you capture the tracks flexing, just goes to show how heavy these things really are.

  • that track is good buddy, nice video though. That pumping is normal, new ties, new spikes and a little better drainage would fix that for sure.

  • who were those guys at the end of the vid. the guy pointed at you EPICALLY

  • WOW

  • geez, can't you people teach this kid what bad track is and isn't without getting insulting and belligerent?

  • BAD TRACK??????really that track is fine you wouldnt know bad track if it kicked ya in da face!

  • @shininghappyperson7 you must not know much about rails but there should be no gap underneath the track as the trian goes over... both rail and tie should flex together the light under the rail you see near the end of video is caused by the weight of the train bowwing the rail probably from rotton ties that let the spikes move

  • @christopher44441 just because the rail pumps doesnt necesarily mean its BAD bad tracks, that means that the track in the area needs some new ties or some spikes put in.bad track is like almost completly rotted ties and to the point that even at a walking speed can only fill cars half way to prevent derailments.that kind of stuff.

  • are those ex conrail units i bet they even might be penn central!

  • Not bad track. You foamers should learn a little more about track before putting title on vids.

  • kids got a big mouth

  • tracks need to bend some you know. If they didnt bend, they would snap...the rail that is.

  • Nice 5 stars! i have one oppinion i want to share with you because you like trains i think Santa Fe should dump Berlington northern. And have the old Grand Trunk and Western and Santa Fe join up it would be GTSF and have the Santa Fe colors red and silver but with the Grand Trunk and Western GTSF symbol on the side now that would look SWEET :D

  • that is not bad track.. maybe some spots could use some tamping. but when track is bad, you know it, it puts the fear of god in you.

  • what state is this

  • Cool Video... well done..

    Thanks for posting

  • wow thats kool

  • I hope the bad track was reported

  • To airnational1: I wouldn't be talking. I just passed your box on the side of the road today. I see you added some windows, err umm holes. I'll see if I can look in the garbage for some doughnuts for you, maybe even money! I don't want to excite you though.

  • yeah okay....thats why this town hosted the disney train! right where this video is going through.......do your research buddy!

  • @CGshortman12 wow disney -.-

  • @airnational1

be nice it dosnt look that bad

  • Nice RS3L on the leader there.

  • he really goosed there yesturday hahaha nice one curtis

  • thats nothing compared to the penn central or the erie lackawanna

  • At rondout, when the freights go over the switches the cars rock back and forth. it always gives me the chills.

  • Look at all that black smoke. Very Nice!

  • Very Nice!

  • the track has pulled up the spikes and came off the tie plates and wen the weight is on both sides of the section the middle goes up..the ballast needs to be changed to b/c u can see water in between the tracks which means the ballast is full of sediment and is not letting the water drain out and when that happens the ties sink and u get the rail to seperate from the tie plates

  • Looks like that excavator there is on the job....

  • The cars and locos have suspension, That's what give a smoothe ride... The tracks moving like that will be FAR from smooth. Trust me. That's why high speed trains use concrete ties and pandrol tie downs instead of spikes. So the rails will not move.

No need to call anyone a dumbass, I'm sure your'e a smart guy, you just don't know what your'e talking about.

  • How wrong you are. While some "pumping" is common and not necessarily dangerous on lower speed branches...the ideal trackbed does not move at all.

So...what's the deal with you coming across calling people names when you don't know shit yourself?

  • Cool video! I think those tracks need more balast.

  • very nice to see a penn central car in there at 2:02

  • Pay no attention to that there track there fellas. If the train kept going, the track did it's job.

  • LOL. Well said.

  • Is that a motel on the other side of the track?

  • Sure like the excess height CSX boxcars!!!

  • great vid again! Shortlines are awesome

  • wow more dumbshits putting crap on the track and it wasnt the track they need too replace the balast thats underneath

  • I'm sorry, but what?

The track is the entire structure.

Rails sit on tie plates that are spiked into place on ties that sit in ballast on top of a roadbed constituting "track".

So the statement that the "track" needs work isn't erroneous.

Careful about who you call dumbshit about what.

  • that line is like kcs main here at mexico mo

  • i worked on these trains at the indianapolis yard for years.

  • very nice (the video not the track, lol)

  • Wow!! very nice horn!! love the sound of those locos!
