  • how did you get the screen to show full screen it does not matter what i do settings wise it always boots so as i cant see the menu bar any help would be appreciated!!!!

  • @xboxrob2011 You need to use the Xbox 360 VGA cable, not the stock component cables. These cables give you a higher screen resolution (1024x768) which lets you see a better picture. I've heard that using an HDMI cable does the same thing, but if you don't have an HDMI port on your console (Like me) you need the VGA Cables.

  • xellous doesn't boot linux... your using xell.

  • @jiv3turk3y89 XeLLous is just XeLL with a few new features. It can do everything that XeLL can do, including booting Linux.

  • it only run with the livecd?? you dont install any?

  • @sgfreak96 Wow fail.

  • Yo thats not a xenon unless that has a custom disc drive...Xenons were the arcades and they have matte white disc drives that match the xbox's color..i have a xenon jtag myself and a jasper and the jasper has chrome. Anyway if you are wrong and it happens to be a falcon or jasper than be happy....XENONS BLOW AND GET RROD LIKE BITCHES!!!!!!!

  • @sgfreak96 It's a launch Xenon Pro Bundle console, not an Arcade. I've re-balled it, and replaced it's x-clamps with screws, so It will never RROD. It's not the only console I've JTAGed either, just the only one that I didn't sell. I JTAGed a Jasper a few months ago, and sold it.

  • I told you everything i am willing to tell you about my drive. I could lend you it's serial number too ;)

  • My xbox360 stops when loading modules, it says "can't boot from /dev/sr0

Something else needed." and asks me for shell or another boot device. I'm booting from a hitachi drive with a dvd burned with gentoo beta 2 live cd. Can't figure out whats wrong. I've burned 3 dvd's already. anyone with an answer to this?? My dvd drive has booktype dvd-rom for burning xbox360 games. Could that be the problem??? i'm really stuck here.

  • @chriss179 Are you still using XeLL, or did you update to XeLLous? Also, What rebooter are you using?

  • @RadiationS1knes I created a Freeboot 0.4 XBR with freeBOOT_ToolBox_Maker26. That would mean i am using xell right? just have this jtag so thats about all i know. I hope you can direct me to the answer.

  • @RadiationS1knes i'm using xellous it seems.. As the tutorials are out there and they are too easy to make any mistakes. (download, burn, insert and enjoy). It seems something is missing here.

  • @chriss179 Have you tried burning it to a CD, instead of a DVD? XeLL is kinda picky as to what it will boot from.

  • @RadiationS1knes they don't sell single cdr's here anymore and i'm not ever going to burn a 100 cd's. But like i said i'm using xellous NOT xell. will try to find a cd somewhere... Maybe a friend or family member still has an old cd recordable stuffed in a dusty place somewhere.

  • @chriss179 Yeah, try burning it to a CD first.

  • @RadiationS1knes tried burning to CD, no luck. Let me tell you my dvd drive specs.

    Hitachi - GDR3120-L - Rev 0047.

    Firmware Osig: [HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR3120L0047]

    Firmware is: LT-Plus 1.1

I mean this should be the very drive that supports booting linux right?? LT-Plus 1.1 isn't the culprit here right? It says loading modules, so i'm past xellous in the boot already. then it says trying to mount bood cd and then nothing found... I mean it's reading the damn thing already.

  • @RadiationS1knes look at 1:15, this is where i'm stuck. It says loading modules, activating mdev, making tmproot all fine. Then it says attempting to mount cd at /dev/sr0. Thats when it can't find any cd. with you it says "cd medium found". And i believe i have the same system specs you have. I've even tried xellaunch from within my xbox dashboard with xell-2f.bin renamed to xell.bin in the same directory to make sure it loads the right xellous. Tho freeboot incorporates that version already.

  • @chriss179 What model drive does your Xbox have?

  • @RadiationS1knes I have 2 spare Toshiba Samsung drives here. But as i recall you can't spoof with LT+ 1.1 anymore can you?? I coud try.... As i see you have a toshiba samsung. No loss if i spoof the drive, xbox-live ain't ever gonna work anymore anyways with jtags.

  • @RadiationS1knes I finally got it to work. Typing this from xbox360 right now. How?? Xell reloaded using an usb stick to boot linux. It won't recognise my linux cd whatever i do. So i just installed it on an usb stick, xell reloaded and ubuntu 10.10 beta. i'm very impressed! Your boot took 10 minutes, mine took about 30 seconds tops! Thats how impressed i am. Reloaded is still in a beta/wip as is ubuntu 10.10, but this should be out in a few months so xbox360 linux will be flourishing!

  • @chriss179 what do you do on the 360 running linux afterward?

  • @vivacarlie Good question. Mostly linux on the xbox360 is experimental and beta as of today. But what it does is it changes your console into a fully fledged personal computer with usb ports, a network adapter, keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.So what do you do with a personal computer??? You could just give yours to me and i'll figure something out for it to do. But since video and audio drivers are experimentel there isn't alot you can do with it's specific media capabilities in linux.

  • @chriss179 that's the issue, other than videogames and web surfing, what do you do with a linux machine that powerfull?

  • @vivacarlie Well luckilly it's not the power which is an actual issue but harnessing it. So it's very fair to ask such a question. Maybe linux on xbox360 ain't for the masses indeed, unless they get xbmc running, stable and functional on powerpc linux+xbox360 linux or something like it. I know i installed mine on a 60gb hd which i can swap with a 1tb hd which turns the xbox into a game machine again (hope they make it so linux can boot from normal hd). cont.

  • @vivacarlie And i don't swap my hd's that often. Maybe because i have a very powerful pc on the same 46" tv, which has better media capabilites. So then the question becomes why use an xbox360 to do something you could do on a pc which has far better media and driver support... At the moment.

Unless you're a hacker who simply wants to harness the power of that xbox360 and thats your thing. Much like breaking the bank. But then the issue is one of luxury and not of povery anymore.

  • @vivacarlie But actually i have been very greatful in the past. My pc was broken about 1,5-2 years ago and i had to wait a long time for replacement parts. Thats when my xbox (the orrigional) ran linux all day long.... (which was a drag because it couldn't run many programs at once with it's lousy 64mb memory.

  • @RadiationS1knes I'm dead serious on the 30 seconds, i might even have over-estimated it. I hardly had time to plug my keyboard and mouse over to the 360 and already i was logged and onto the desktop. This is very very exciting. Now to find out the stuff like is there a flash player for xenon architecture, because i can't view the video's on youtube without it.. Obviously! Hope i get a second hdd case soon, to install linux on a hdd which i can simply insert to work linux. YAY!!

  • @chriss179 Thats pretty nice, you should be able to just use a PPC (PowerPC) Version of Flash Player, you don't need a special version. Also, where did you get the ubuntu live cd?

  • so can i boot into linux and then when im finish with linux can i use my jtag to host lobbies as well? cheers mate

  • @5500rpmvtecpower Well, JTAG's can't connect to Live anymore, but you can host system link lobbies :)

  • if this is boot though xell, does this mean everytime i turn on the jtag its going through linux and never play xbox again or wat?

  • @5500rpmvtecpower no, the JTAG only boots XeLL when you turn it on with the eject button (Or have no DVD drive connected) it will boot to the dashboard if you turn it on with the power button.

  • but why?

  • Sick dude
