Thought I'd collected every well-done fanvid that existed on this series. Then I discovered this one today. Don't know how it got buried, but it's moving to the top of my list. 5 stars for using the original soundtrack, and your choice of scenes was spot on. All my favorites, and in slo-mo to boot! Exquisite editing!!!

Such a phenomenal work by ELizabeth Gaskell and a wonderful interpretation by the BBC. North and South IS the finest miniseries ever made. Thank you for putting this tribute together. Great job!

you should look at the credits on the dvd...

they always have the musical credits with the names of the pieces ... if the info that they gave does not help... try that :)

I believe that this work is based off of a piece called Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Part (the a in Part has an umlaut above it). It's off an instrumental album called Alina that has three different arrangements of the same work on it. Overall, it's not exactly the same as what is in the movie, but the third version on the album is very close, I think....album was released in 2000. Hope this helps! This score gives me chills and makes me swoon at the same time. Martin Phipps is an amazing composer. I love the one he did for Persuasion too. But this one is my favorite.

I love this song. It reminds me of the Masterpiece Theatre's version of "Doctor Zhivago" Ludovico Einaudi did that soundtrack. Look up either "white night" or "zhivago" by him and it sounds similar to Northern train. Martin Phipps and Einaudi are geniuses!
