  • I use to sing this to my 3 year old. Don't tell him.

  • Hey, this isn't the theme I remember? I was a 70s kid and I'm sure there was a theme tune that went "VALLEY! RIVER! A man named Daniel Boone! Destiny is calling a man named Daniel Boone!" Anyone got a link to that baby??

  • The MythBusters should do an episode of Daniel Boone myths, like the one about splitting a tree by throwing a hatchet at it.

  • Ugh. They made the theme song sound like '60's pop music.

  • Daniel Boone was a MAN! PUNCH!

  • Daniel Poon was a man, he was a big man! , but the bear was-a-bigger so he ran like a digger up a treeee!

  • He's my great great great great great great Uncle. XD

  • @meandkylieBFF The real Daniel Boone is related to me by marriage that I know of.His younger brother,Squire Boone,jr. married Jane van Cleave, who was a aunt several times over.

  • Great hearing this music again.

  • @dogboy1102 me too

  • im related to him soooooo im cool

  • @dogboy1102 ME TOO. XD

    We might be related X)

  • It's seems that the old man had a man crush on Daniel Boone

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool !!

  • daniel boon was a man,

    yes a big man,

but the bear was bigger so he ran like a nigger up a tree

  • he and i share the same name

  • Wow! Way to wreck a theme song. This is even worse the final season arrangement of the Rifleman theme.

  • i am related to this dude so cool

  • He must be really strong to split a tree with just ONE throw of an axe... Al Gore probably came out of the shadows to protest the death of his beloved tree.

  • I saw this on retro. It feels nostalgic even though I have never seen it before.

  • oh god, when i was a kid in 1966 or so i was actually Daniel Boone never forget that feeling and time, sure runs rings arround todays bullshit time wasting wanna be shows,,Phew got that out,,,,ta!!!

  • Hahahahahahhhhahahahhahhahahhhhahahaa........My God....I remeber this....wow...and it was terrible back then.....wow.

  • Die Filme von Daniel Boone kamen auch in der DDR.

  • im related to daniel boone on my dads side of the family...im so happy about it

  • The show went downhill after Ed Ames left [thanks to that gawshawful hit he had MY CUP RUNNETH OVER]. He felt as though he should get his music career back in order

  • @lonelymikey55 Sorry about your loss. It is still a great show.

  • Um dos melhores seriados da Tv Americana exibidos aqui no Brasil nos anos 80.

    Todo mundo em casa adorava.

Tenho a coletania lançada em DVD aqui no Brasil e assisto até Hoje.

  • Fess Elisha Parker, Jr. (August 16, 1924 – March 18, 2010)

    R.I.P.

  • We sang a song parody of this as kids, it went something like this:

    Daniel Boone was a man

    What a big man

    But the bear was bigger

So he ran like a ni**er up a tree

  • @wdc2998

My mom sang that to me while we where talking about Daniel Boone and I fell to the floor laughing, mainly because it was unexpected, but still rather funny.

  • @wdc2998 i think we're a guilty of singing that one

  • I love this show! My dad and I always watch this together!

  • Retro Television (RTV) now carries this show.

  • Daniel Boone was a man,was BIG MAN,but the Bear was bigger so he ran like a Ni**er up a tree! LOLOLOL --thats the way we sang it back then!!!

  • God, I hate this version. They didn't have to "update" the music to make it sound like late '60's pop.

  • R.I.P. Fess Parker, one of the finest actors to not only ever grace TV Westerns, but one of the finest actors to ever grace American TV, period.

  • @megamanj2004X---Fess Parker was one rare and unique actor. I heard he also played Davy Crocket! RIP FESS!

  • Some of the best TV progarms ever made were like this one. All we have to watch on TV today is crap!!!

    Rest in peace, Fess!

  • There were three versions of this song, the original, the classic and the groovy. It this the classic version. The groovy version was sung by the Imperials. The others studio groups?

  • O cara era bem legal....RIP

  • Remembering Fess Parker - Great show, fab mentor, top bloke. RIP.

  • Clint Walker may be another BIG man for trivia sakes some may be thinking of right now ,,too of the same era ! ??

  • Fess Parker, a television icon to a generation of youngsters as Davy Crockett and later Daniel Boone, has died at the age of 85 of natural causes. on march 18th 2010.

Rip Fess Parker you will be missed

  • @Astraldragon1 RIP Fess Parker was rhe best actor to play Daniel Boone in my book.

  • Fess Parker was a BIG MAN, yes a BIG MAN and he made a BIG WINE....yes, a BIG WINE. Just went to his Santa Barbara Hotel this week. We are BIG FANS, and will miss him and wish his family the best at this difficult time.

  • RIP Fess Parker - the rippinest, roarinest, fightinest man the frontier ever knew!

  • I watched all the episodes of Daniel Boone, in Brazil in the 1970s. I loved the movies. Fess Parker died today (March 18, 2010) and made history. I'm sure that millions of people around the world were very saddened by this news. Thank you, Fess Parker.

  • RIP, Fess Parker.

  • RIP M. Parker!!!

  • RIP Fess Parker :-(

  • RIP Fess Parker

  • Thank you! This brings back memories - but also memories of the confidence in our culture when this series first came out. The series was, I believe, showing the right sort of American - a role model for the world and country.

  • to booneboy1994--and--10alyssa0i--are you two in any way also related to singer Pat Boone and actor Richard Boone--would be interesting to find out as--these two men were also related to Daniel.....

  • He wore go-go boots (made of rawhide).

  • im related to this dude

  • me 2!!

  • they still play this on live air today!!!

I LIKE TO WATCH IT WHEN IM REALLY HIGH!!!

  • Now, that`s who I wanted to be when I was a kid, walk where you like and do what you like and scared of NOBODY !.

    Observatorioia

  • This was such a great TV series! Patricia Blair was HOT, and Ed Ames (Mongo?) was a cool guy!

  • I watched this show as it was being made. I haven't seen this since the early 70s and it really brings back memories.

  • lol the groovy version

  • I don't like this theme, not what *I* was used to. It's rock and roll, hippified late 60's stuff, more suited to Austin Powers' pad than the American frontier.

  • @Dracopol - Stop sniffing around like a puffed up popinjay and get a life! It was a kids series way back in the day. The theme music was typical of the era that he show was broadcast.

  • @Dracopol this sound nothing like the "hippified " music of the 60"s .. what kind of drugs are you taking? a few tabs of LSD maybe? that might explain the weird audio hallucinations you seem to be having about this theme..

  • Great American show... Should be required viewing in all elementary and junior highs..

  • @wilburhog now adays they think mexico is the greatest country on earth.

  • @wilburhog I am taking California Literature class as a Senior in high school and we had to listen to this song in class. Didn't watch it, but that's as close as it gets.

  • @wilburhog Believe it or not, I watched this very series back in the early 1970's in the GDR on East German TV (yes, under Commie Gouvernment back then). Probably the only US TV series we ever had on our TV. Was quiet a big success amongst the children of that time. Nice material and a good intro song.

  • @wilburhog NO TV show should be required in American schools. These rude, illiterate brats are staring at screens all day long; that's what's wrong with them to begin with. Still, this is a good show.

  • dear hyperchild--i bet you might also be kin to actors Pat Boone and Richard Boone--wouldn't that be wonderfully amazing?

  • Dear snowmominator: i think it is amazing that i have noticed so much --two FAMOUS actors and entertainers--descended from Daniel Boone--Singer Pat Boone--and --Have gun Will travel's and big screen villian--and wonderful charismatic actor--Richard Boone--and i bet in some way--you may be related to these two wonderful guys too! that is so awesome!

  • DUDE he is my 7th great grandfather!!!!!!! and i still have the name boone!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP, Dallas.

  • many fond memorries, thanks for posting. Yep in the early 80's in Australia. love the series.

  • Daniel Boone never wore coonskin caps. He disliked them.

  • If that is true, I wonder why they portray him always wearing one?

  • oy, a very bright song. Daniel Boone is my great great great great great great grandfather to tell you the truth.

  • OMG!!! He is my 6th great grandfather too! Thru his son Nathan.

  • what a coincidence!!

  • I remember another Daniel Boone theme with the words. Guess no man'll ever beat Dan'll. Guess no man'll ever beat Dan'll, ever beat Dan'll Boone. Can anybody tell me where that comes from?

  • The lyrics you describe sound like they came from the 4-part Walt Disney version that starred Dewey Martin..

  • Several years ago TVland began to air this Fess Parker Boone series and I was expecting to hear the lyrics I had described and was very surprised when I didn't. Thanks for giving me a direction to look in to see if I can find that old theme song.song.

  • I was five when this aired and was astounded that he could throw his hand-ax and split a tree in half lengthwise.

  • :( im sad daniel is my an-sester iv been doing reserch on him :(

  • 0:40

  • When my brothers were kids, they would parody this song ALL the time.

  • They showed this early mornings on Channel 9/WOR in the early 80s.

  • i think youll find it was earlier than that

  • You're right. I used to watch this show on Channel 9/WOR on Saturday mornings in1979. They used to show Doctor Who with Tom Baker after this.

  • I used to see this on WGBO Tv in Joliet

chicago which was in 1985 or 1986. i first saw the epiosies with this version of the theme and after ward an instental one that seemed to be older. One of these episoes had an African American named Rosey Guire.

  • William Wiard, directed many episodes of the classic "Rockford Files",series.

  • I liked the episode with Aaron Burr in it and his conspiracy to try and break away from the US and set up a seperate govt. Taken from actual history (many details are controversial

    and in dispute however).

  • This version of the theme (very late 60s) proved that hippies made this country less attractive. Look at the hair cut on Darby Hinton for God's sakes....forget authenticity. Also, how do you having opening credits for Daniel Boone without Ed Ames in it?

  • I think you are exactly right.

  • This may be hard for you to believe, but people like Daniel Boone DID have long hair back then. as well as mullet-style hair. The reason that you think that Boone had short hair was because of the movies of the '30's, '40's and '50's that depicted people of the past as having short hair, when in all likelihood, they did not. Hippies have NOTHING to do with it.

  • The answer is simple. Ed Ames Left the series at the end of the 4th season

    (1967-1968)

  • Patricia Blair is "HOT". Meet her in Las Vegas back in 88. Still looked good.

  • Aw, when men were men in America. Unlike today...

  • this is the best

  • Can you please let DB come back to AT?

  • I wish TVLand would bring this back!

  • You can watch this show on WHT every day at 2pm

  • What's WHT?

  • World Harvest Television (LeSea Broadcasting). Directv channel 367.

  • @spudtv Is itstill on?

  • @lablover959 Wow, years ago in New York WHT was a cable TV channel. This was right before HBO started.

WHT stood for Wometco Home Theater.

    Brings back memories.

  • @Tazzman - TV Land is finished....... From a channel that gave us classics like I Love Lucy, Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, Sanford and Son, Good Times now gives us Roseann, Cougar, Married with Children and that great show -How's You Get So Rich!

  • @schs1977 I enjoy these new shows about as much I enjoy a toothache!

  • @Tazzman You can get it on dvd now.

  • this was produced by the man who produced Cagney and Lacey

  • Barney Rosenzweig also produced the first season of "Charlie's Angels". He's now married to Sharon Gless ("Cagney").

  • What happened to the "20th Century Fox" logo at the end ? Why did you not include it? I was waiting for it and my main reason for watching this.

  • yea me too

  • the first theme was way better than the newer one. i dunno why they changed it.

  • It's weird how they changed the theme song for 1968, but they still used the same 1966 closing credits theme tune.
