You should wait till 1.8, because everyone has to generate a new map with all the add-ons added (villages etc.)

@jiufucai the programming is chunk generetion. we HAD chunk generation updates(new trees, lapis lazuli, etc). they worked in new chunks of old worlds. I Bet 100 cookies that it will work.

@jiufucai source? any generation mods that you add to minecraft after exploring the world alot, will work in new chunks. the way it works is, when the world needs new chunks, minecraft takes all the generation code and generates the chunk(s).
