Sick toys for the rich kids as always. funny thing, clay is better FTW. Still though as pre-production design SW this looks like a critical piece to the autodesk experience.
@nameno1elsehas The "free" version is only a trial for 30 days. As for a production suite, I maintain that the $ + hardware + Cintiq is a sufficient barrier to limit its use to "rich kids"... unfortunately. Trying it out is one thing, but short of quitting a job or school to maximize learning during the 30 day trial, only to lose the license(which never extends to commerce anyway)... Am I missing something(other than theft)? Mudbox alone depresses me.
@nazaxprime You can easily get a part time job, save up the money, and buy your self a nice piece of hardware. Might take about half a year, but you don't have to be a "rich kid." Also, I had a friend hook me up with the student version of mudbox for free. Student version is not the same as the free trial.
@nameno1elsehas Lol! Uhh I am 33... part time is not an option. But, I know that. 6 months hasnt gotten me there, but small steps always lead me closer to my end goal... something for which mudbox is rather insignificant... And no worries, I dont believe in absolutes... so with that said, obviously even a serf can get his own mudbox/maya/cintiq/display/inventor/studio/factory/ETC... For example... I miss 2560/1600.
@turgore.. man its a modeling program, the guy is a modeler, anyway the point here is modeling and texture. and yes it can be animate but in other program (modeling and animation are two diferent things)
@Z4N4RD1N3 ?? are you saying that 3ds max has a realtime tonemapper and depth of field effects, along with realtime HDRI lighting and good soft shadows, pluss an actual AO that dosnt create a whole lot of trouble?. cause i havent seen it
@15Protech sorry dont know if have some class or tutorial about this. i learn it in some studios they use this kind of thing to work faster. but anyway you need a amazing computer to run this, because this is not like mudbox or zbrush if you dont have some cool computer you run really slowly and for modeling its not a big deal its better to VFX or fur/hair animation and is better use maya with renderman in realtime to do these things. or you can use for low poly models and efects for games.
Question...would the real time viewport filters (ambient occlusion, etc.) be available on a Mac Book Pro 13" using Bootcamp. This is the question. Same question for 3DS Max's similar viewport capabilities.
If not on the 13", would they work on the 15" Mac Book pro.
holy crap i was watching this vid, said to myself "wow this isn't much different from blender's 'sculpt mode'" then he said something about stamps so i stopped watching the vid and said fuck it I NEED THIS!!!!
@BIubbit01 you can get it for free online, without killing anyone lol! I have like 30 programs, probably their sum of prices = 50.000, and I got them all free!
You do realize that PC stands for Personal Computer and apple computers are Personal Computers, they just have different OS. Also, I agree, that as far as 3d creation the Windows OS is superior, however, a macbook pro with the Windows OS installed is the best 3d development laptop you can get.
Thumbs up if this is on your christmas list!

i would say its easier then Zbrush, during my trial period i learned a lot,the main thing that matters is your creativity/imagination.
