You need to get Direct TV to setup the HD DVR dish and signal so you will not get HD until your house is wired for it.

Yes it is needed! If you just want a hd box it cost right now $99.00 Or if you want the hd dvr it cost $199.00! Plus remember the fees for the receiver is $5.99 and don't forget to upgrade your plan to the Hd dvr plan becasue that includes the fee for dvr service and hd service! Or you can just pay the dvr fee $6.00 and up and hd witch cost $10.00/mo! Hope this helped!

Got news for you about the HD/DVR. you do get the awesome picture that you veiw on this post. But before you go running out the store to get one. Make sure you have authorization to install a large ass dish on the building or house. Major plus is to make sure no trees are blocking the line of sight.

The only thing that sucks with this HD/DVR is how long it takes to load sat information.Imagine waiting 8-10 minutes for it start up initially! God forbid it has issues. The resets are a murder!

Directv is a ripp-off.Please don't make business with them.They are too nasty when you call their customer service, they transfer your call several times and after more than 45 minutes of waiting for somebody to resolve your problem they hung up. The other day I called and they transfer my call to the spanish dept because I have a spanish package on my account, the spanish guy gave me attitude and was so irrespectful.And this is only the first part, I hate them.We have to do something about it.

The 2 times I called I was close to a stroke because the low quality customer service Directv has when somebody try to substract features or close an account.Sorry but it is not safe for my health to call Directv back. By the way, the spanish guy talked to me in barely understable english, the issue is that he was the nastiest person ever I talked to on customer service.
