Someone I know raised a Savannah monitor from a baby size of a mouse to a cat sized animal he trained it in the water and handled it over and over .He feeds it canned lizard food from the pet shop it is pretty tame now.He say's its all about knowing what you're doing like rules and respecting it so it will respect the owner back like a cat he even pets it on the head it likes its head&neck massaged.

1. They eat nearly as much as humans.

2. They are diffucult to properly house in an adequate amount of space.

3. They require ridiculous basking temperatures that use a lot of electricity.

4. A healthy monitor is never tame and always unpredictable.

5. They can caue serious injuries such as cuts, bruises, and lacerations that can lead to infection without being properly treated.

first they aren't difficult to house, and the basking temperatures very between species and are not rediclous at all by lizard standards, i own one so i know this. they are not always unpredictable, yes they can have that behavior but its not true that they can not reach any level of tame within their captive life you fool... there is video evidence, and pictures to back that up. and the injury part comes with any animal...so its really not that big of a deal unless your an idiot.

They are very diffucult to house. No fiash tank can keep a proper temp gradient and humidity. So they require custom cages. Even a small species such as an ackie needs a 6x2x2 cage. Basking temps are hardly between species. The only difference is size. Anything the size of an adult savannah or larger needs a basking spot at leats the size of the lizards body of around 130-140f to properly digest food.

If you are keeping your monitor correctly, it wil act like a wild animal.

They should show a video for why we should stop keeping them as pets. I think they should require proper training and a license because that would stop people from buying them on an impulse. Believe me I want an Argus monitor or Gould's monitor, but right now I am jobless, so I'm screwed. I also believe pit bull dog should be banned since they have killed more people than any reptile in all of history. In b4 waaa I have a nice pitbull! Fuck you pitbull dogs should be shot!

I have never in my life seen anything that surprised me as much as that trainer and his monitor Raja interacting....seeing a huge monitor being petted on the head like that....the image was so startling I just couldn't believe it. It blew me away. I thought of them as like sharks or crocs, just pretty primitive and not "connecting." But Raja came when he called (and not to chow down on his intestines). WOW! and the guy carrying one over his shoulder, as if it were a baby? wow!
