There was a bit on The Man Show once where Jimmy and Adam tried to join Metallica and brought banjos with them instead of guitars. Maybe they were on to something...
Intet ly fra regnet No shelter from the rain Står stoisk og ser på at havet stiger Standing stoically watching the sea rising Et levende helvete A living hell Til døden innhenter og befrir The death and obtain relieve Pris djevelen være lovet Price devil be praised Han forfører deres døtre He seduces their daughters
TÅKE Som en tyv i lyngen kommer smitten snikende Like a thief in the heather comes contagion creeping Væsken av råtnende frukter The liquid from rotting fruits Ekko av den lukten Echo of that smell Blott et hensvunnet minne Exposes a disappeard's place memory Gravlagt i mitt fargeløse indre Buried in my colorless internal Jeg er mange udyr I am many beasts Himmelen ligger begravet her The sky is buried here Nedover downwards
that bunjo part is so fucking epic...I could never believe that something like Banjo and Norwegian Black Metal could be so fucking awesome...all this album is fcking masterpiece...btw yeah Myr is cool but Nordbundet still owns....Hail Hoest
The man uses an instrument for a specific purpose. He doesn't over do it, use it as a gimmick, or abuse it. The banjo is used to fill an idea and convey a certain emotion, and then it isn't used again. Its the same with the mandolin in the track "Helvetesmakt" after this one on the album. If you don't like it, don't listen to it
I spat out all the water in my mouth when I heard the banjo part. I wasn't expecting it. Taake has really outdone themselves this time. Fucking epic I must say! :'D
Hey, My Dad plays the Banjo. I wonder if I can get hoim to like Black metal now!! hahaha.. that was fucking Badass!! Banjo is hard as fuck to play. Much respect!!
Der Rabenschrei (Thurzur!) ist toll! Ich weiß nicht, was ich von dem Banjo halten soll ..... erscheint mir im Zusammenhang mit TAAKE sehr fremd! Aber geiler Song!
Sounds very very interesting, I like the parts where unusual instruments for BM come out, like the banjo here; the effect is very similar to the piano used in Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik I...:)
@tomuchBAformyJIFF Wasn't saying that nobody has used banjos before, merely pointing out it's a step in a different direction than that of the generic BM sound. Over-reacted a bit in my comment though, opinions are opinions and don't concern me.
@Gemetzell genius would be taking generic black metal sounds and making them sound special. That's what he usually did, and that's why I somehow dislike the "exotic" banjo even though the riff is great
Hell yea a banjo :D thats somethin unique. hopefully there will be a song were a banjo fits in better. im sure that you can create a great atmospherem a bit darker maybe, with this instrument. i like it :)
I really love their debut, and I quite like their 2nd album. Then I was increasingly disppointed, to say the least, by everything they did. Now I really thought about buying that album, but then they came up with that banjo black 'n roll part. What a crap! Hoest, you should have retired 10 years ago!
Hoest gets it.
