My only visit to Montreal was to see a hockey game at the Forum and it was during a transit strike. Cabs were hard to find. And because I knew just a little French some shopkeepers were quite rude to me. I snapped at one man and used the universal words "FU". But mostly folks were nice. Because my ancestry is English I have to say I much prefer Toronto. I feel more at home there. And Maple Leaf Gardens was a treasure of a building. You felt like you were in a great cathedral at MLG. Go Leafs Go!
@bulldogbarks55 lol you need to go back ive lived in both cities for many years and I am english as well but prefer Montreal a hundred times over. Toronto is too square and lacks a lot.
Just as an FYI do not go to Vel Aube on 5863 Av De Lormier not only is the owener rude but it's not a bike professional bike shop he has like 7 bikes and will charge an arm and a leg to any repairs done!!! VERY BAD EXPERIENCE when I went.
I live in Plattsburgh NY about 1hr from Montreal, 1hr from burlington VT and 2.5 hours form Albany. Montreal is better known to me than any other north American city and NOTHING Compares!
I am from California and have lived some years in Hawaii. I met my wife in Montreal and lived there 9 months and then had to leave Visa. I then came back for another 3 months before my wife then moved to California. Now for my comment :-)I found Montreal to be very friendly. I found the big beautiful churches amazing. The castle like bldgs.I LOVE! It is like going to Europe. The food was VERY CHEAP compared to Ca. and Hi. Housing was awesome because there was no stress with making rent. Loved it!
No, not at all, but the price is going up. I went to visit some new condos in downtown last year. They range from $500000 up to 3 million. However, outside of the downtown is not so much, Laval is even less. Montreal is one of the best cities to live if you can move there. I am thinking about buying a condo there. Maybe spend 6 months there every year or longer. Maybe move to Canada all together..........haha...........cheers!!!
@gairero Probably the cheapest 1st world Major city to live in on the planet. I came from Toronto & I noticed the prices immediately. Everything is cheaper...everything. Just make sure you can speak french. Great city to live , shit city to work.
