Merci Philippe. Il est assez agréable d'être capable d'enregistrer quelque chose qui sera perdu à jamais. Les générations futures seront en mesure de profiter de nos enregistrements vidéo
Sorry to hear about your camera, but your videos are fantastic. What will happen to the trams themselves? Are they off to a museum? Let's hope so. Cheers.
Thanks, some are being kept to supplement the new trams during peak season and quite a few have been preserved but there is a bit of a dispute as to where they are going to be kept
Always wanted to get a few shots of the trams at Blackpool, but have never got around to it. Didn't know about they were to be withdrawn from service. Another characteristic part of the region being lost to modernisation. Sorry to hear about your family issues Austin. All the best....Keith
Thanks very much Keith, you tend to think things will go on forever I suppose. Your own filming of modern day events, which may seem commonplace now, will, in time build up to be a valuable record of the current scene
Wonderful ! Iwas there a month ot two back but the sea was rough, the wind never ceasing and the rain solid! So good to see things clearly and to know things are starting to look much better for the future of Blackpool trams.
Thanks very much, it seemed quite appropriate that the final day should have been as sunny as it was. I normally get the same sort of conditions as those you have experienced!
You must be very upset to say the least Austin, a bitter sweet day, as you love those trams, but tinged with the loss of your second camera. Having said that, it was a perfect day for filming and you've captured a wonderful record of these well loved vehicles......Bob
Thanks Bob, have a lot on my mind at present as my Mother who is 90 has a few health issues so it probably contributed to me forgetting the bag. Just regret now not having filmed the trams more over the years
Looking back you'll be glad you were there, Austin. But leaving something - reminds me of a railtour to Eastern Europe when the tour leader put down his bag to do some filming and when he went for it, it had gone! All out plane tickets for the return were in it, plus our train tickets and his passport! He was upset!!
Upset is putting it mildly I reckon Alan! That must have been a dreadful experience. Its so easily done though but thank goodness I have the strength of the insurance companies around me..and I bet you remember that advert!
Yes, we were a bit upset too, as we had to shell out for new train tickets (though it was refunded, later). Sorry to hear about your Mother, that must be constantly on your mind. . . . .. Alan
Super footage Austin. Was it 632 that failed as I don't remember seeing that ?
Be a shame if it's only at illuminations time that we may see some of the old girls.
Having lived on the Fyled coast for 5 yrs in the late 70s / early 80s it's funny how you took things for granted and assumed those units would run for ever
Cheers Mike, not sure which was the failed tram I saw being towed back now, forgot the number with all the later goings on! You are so right about taking things for granted. You should really film anything that moves, even hated Pacers as they won't be around for ever.
Wonderful stuff Austin, a wonderful video memory to keep and cherish. Sorry to hear about the camera. It's unlikely to be handed in, we don't live in that kind of world anymore sadly. Regards Mike
Excellent video Austin! A joy to watch and the traditional trams in everyday service will be missed in Blackpool. A small heritage fleet will be retained by Blackpool Transport and this includes the illuminated trams.
Sorry to read about you loosing one of cameras, just hope you can claim off your insurance.
Excellent compilation to mark the end of an era Austin and thanks for filming. Terrible to hear about your mishap lets hope you can claim off your insurance there is nothing worse than loosing something.
Lovely film Austin. Great to see the old trams one last time I'm sure they will be missed. Filmed under a clear blue sky too. Sorry to hear about your other camera, seems to take the gloss of it a bit. All the best......Tim.
Thanks Tim, it was indeed a lovely sunny day and I now regret not staying to film as the sun set but just felt like getting home after losing the other camera
Nice Work on the Fliming and I'm glad i went and flimed the trams a couple of weeks ago then but i think the new trams will be nice to flim but will be broing as they will all look the same
Thanks very much. I agree things won't be the same next year but you should film the first day of operation of the new trams if you can as it will be a little bit of history in the making
Another page of history turns. Fortunately, thanks to you, these trams remain in our memory. Thank you Austin.
