@baniyas2011 i doubt they were aiming for humor either. more of a mix of a modern or alternative perspective on the story. as a musical. wasn't meant as a comedic thing, but certainly controversial on its stance.
I'm so glad I took German in school, so I'd understand what you said. I assume you're talking about the song they sing before Jesus starts singing. That's one's called "Trials and Tribulations".
Halleluja!
i have question you know the guy standing next to jesus when he is arguing with jesus he looks really furious with the mustache is that james or john ?
the lyrics to this part of the musical is suggesting that Jesus was accusing the apostles of not caring about him as he mentions his body and his blood. Although I loved the movie, I have studied Jesus life and he did not accyse the apostles of any lack of caring for him. But interpretation of the scriptures is common and it takes diligent study of them to see what is really being said and recorded in its pages. Judas was also a thief as well as being a tratior. The scriptures say that.
It's biting because Judas, who believes Jesus of Nazareth to be a particularly moving leader but doesn't believe he is God incarnate, calls him 'Christ,' which, especially given the context, is a snide dig at the divinity which Jesus treats himself.
"You want me to do it? What if I just stayed here and ruined your ambitions?"
How crazy must you be to actively WANT your constituency to turn you into a martyr? Judas' dilemma is purely rational.
SO MANY amazing parts in this scene. The exchanges between Jesus and Judas are so powerful, particularly when they touch each others faces towards the end. The "last supper" pose was nice. And funny parts like when one of the apostles gets all shook up after Jesus and Judas fight, and wraps his arms around himself, lol.
Watch the end of the Passion of the Christ. They re-enact the Pieta statue when Mary is holding Yeshua's (Jesus') Body after he is taken down from the Cross.
The Gospel of Judas discovered some years ago suggests that Jesus and Judas acted in concert to fulfill what was written in scripture - nothing happens that is without purpose or design.
I agree Judas didn't disagree with Jesus he was scared and thought he was doing the right thing (which he was) but felt guilty so killed himself - but it was the reason he was put on earth
the wine and the bread were used for the celebration of the Passover each year, for the Jews. The movie does tend to make the ceremony very ordinary and without importance - almost as if Jesus was blaming the apostles for drinking the wine and the bread. That is the problem with the palywriters - they did misunderstand a lot of the symbolic moments in Jesus ministry. Still, I actually watched this movie in the theatre when it was playing once, and rekindled my love for the bible and God.
@Chuckles123thefish I believe that the idea was to ressignificate these symbols and moments of Jesus`s ministry. You're right, according to the orthodoxy. But JSS is not "biblical" in any form, they were NOT thinking about this in any moment of it.
It says ;For Christ died for sins once for all,the righteous for the unrighteous,to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but mademade alive by the Spirit trough whom also he wentand preached to the spirits in prison [HeLL]who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,..

Jesus can't at in this version. Unless standing there blank-faced and not doing anything to portray the slightest bit of emotion is acting, in which case he's quite good at it.
The truth still remains the truth no matter how you slice the pie. A lamb was freely given and a lamb was freely slain for the sins of the world. All who can accept this accepts the truth. (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. All sin if you can accept this can be washed clean, and Judas did play a prominent roll in this truth if he did not do what he was asked this could not be!
Man I love this scene, the whole film is just great, never read the original book, but if its like this the whole way through, I might have to check it out.
Who says that? Judas was a messenger god used to deliver jesus's destiny. Besides, he repented at the end and was forgiven. Have you heard of the gosspel of judas?
@armegaz I'm pretty sure the gospel of judas is largely disputed as accurate and reliable, or of even being written by judas. That's why when the Bible was compiled it wasn't included, nor were other gospels which were considered to be forgeries or contrary to Scripture (such as the gospel of thomas). I'm pretty sure this is also the general consensus from most biblical and historical scholars.
Judas rejected Jesus Christ. Unfortunately he'll be where the many others who reject Christ are.
treachery is forgiven when woven into an intricate plan and chosen to be put on 1 man.
Besides, if u read the Gospel of Judas, which was actually written at the exact time, not like the other accounts, starting more then 60 years after date, you will find the other side of the story
@jeroendurantube The Gospel of Judas is dated around the 3rd century CE. The Gospel of Thomas is still one of the earliest dated gospels. Even so, we have yet to find any gospel written within the lifetime of any eyewitness of Jesus's actual ministry, so it is all hearsay at this point.
As far as Judas is concerned, if the deed had not been commuted by him, it would have needed to be done by another. I believe God's grace forgave him his role, and Jesus's blood paid the price for his sin.
@tehnamesseli Damnation is a price all humans pay for simply existing. Damnation isn't a punishment however, as you have probably been fooled into believing. It's simply not being rewarded at the end.
@effigyoflight I don't suppose I can agree with that. As far as anyone knows, including yourself, we've all been "fooled" into believing something that isn't.
@avielMenter In christianity, without God nothing can exist. hell is a place without God, a place separated from God and amde for those who don't want to exist with God. Thus hell is nonexistence.
@allmikau yet you choose to look for every JCS video and type the exact same thing...that's the definition of a crazy person in case you didn't know. doing the the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

5:13 = my favourite note in the whole film
heinzie5 6 months ago
The truth still remains the truth no matter how you slice the pie. A lamb was freely given and a lamb was freely slain for the sins of the world. All who can accept this accepts the truth. (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. All sin if you can accept this can be washed clean, and Judas did play a prominent roll in this truth if he did not do what he was asked this could not be!

Who says that? Judas was a messenger god used to deliver jesus's destiny. Besides, he repented at the end and was forgiven. Have you heard of the gosspel of judas?
armegaz 7 months ago
@armegaz I'm pretty sure the gospel of judas is largely disputed as accurate and reliable, or of even being written by judas. That's why when the Bible was compiled it wasn't included, nor were other gospels which were considered to be forgeries or contrary to Scripture (such as the gospel of thomas). I'm pretty sure this is also the general consensus from most biblical and historical scholars.
Judas rejected Jesus Christ. Unfortunately he'll be where the many others who reject Christ are.
JordanRossMackenzie 7 months ago
@JordanRossMackenzie You've clearly forgotten that it was Gods will to be crucified and that by betraying Jesus, Judas was actually doing Gods will

treachery is forgiven when woven into an intricate plan and chosen to be put on 1 man.
Besides, if u read the Gospel of Judas, which was actually written at the exact time, not like the other accounts, starting more then 60 years after date, you will find the other side of the story
jeroendurantube 8 months ago
@jeroendurantube The Gospel of Judas is dated around the 3rd century CE. The Gospel of Thomas is still one of the earliest dated gospels. Even so, we have yet to find any gospel written within the lifetime of any eyewitness of Jesus's actual ministry, so it is all hearsay at this point.
As far as Judas is concerned, if the deed had not been commuted by him, it would have needed to be done by another. I believe God's grace forgave him his role, and Jesus's blood paid the price for his sin.

Does treachery justify damnation?
tehnamesseli 8 months ago 2
@tehnamesseli mere existence does at this point -.-
effigyoflight 7 months ago
@effigyoflight Not so sure about that. Please explain.
tehnamesseli 7 months ago
@tehnamesseli Damnation is a price all humans pay for simply existing. Damnation isn't a punishment however, as you have probably been fooled into believing. It's simply not being rewarded at the end.
effigyoflight 7 months ago
@effigyoflight I don't suppose I can agree with that.
tehnamesseli 7 months ago
@effigyoflight I don't suppose I can agree with that. As far as anyone knows, including yourself, we've all been "fooled" into believing something that isn't.
tehnamesseli 7 months ago
@effigyoflight Do you have any proof for this significant claim?
avielMenter 7 months ago
@avielMenter In christianity, without God nothing can exist. hell is a place without God, a place separated from God and amde for those who don't want to exist with God. Thus hell is nonexistence.

@ allmikau um Christ isn't God, and Judas wasn't a bad guy he was just chosen to be burdened with the betrayal of Jesus. (by God mind you)

@123ftdc Judas was a non believer though. Jesus is God. We have seen three traits of God. Father, SON, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is the son
