  • That was awesome! Don't the tanks have a double wall? Just curious how the curved hook doesn't damage the inner wall at the beginning of the video. Not trying to bag on your process. Serious question as I've never seen anything like this before.

  • Bla Bla Bla ,whatever...

  • I have seen hoods of trucks and cars with PDR , 1-2 years later paint starts to flake off..Not sold on it,,unless you plan on selling it right away.

  • @utilitykiller1972 LOL! Seriously? Like you have no clue what you are talking about do you? I have been doing PDR for over 20 years and I don't use chemicals, paint or sanding to remove dents. And you are telling the world PDR causes the paint to flake? You are making false statements based on what you don't know. Prove to me that PDR causes paint to flake after a successful dent removal. Please back up your statement.

  • @denttime Had a dent from a golf ball ,in the middle of the hood ,on my 2004 GMC Envoy, car was new ,had a guy use his tools to remove the dent,It's been years since the repair,NO chipping,No flaking,No signs of where the dent was.Utilitykiller is an Idiot !!

  • @utilitykiller1972 Haha dude your an idiot...PDR doesnt make paint flake...paint flakes because of improper PAINT techniques...I do pdr and paint/body. You have no idea what your talking about.

  • That seems a little high,as in way to freaking high!

  • @illbeda Your key word is "seems" high. It seems high only if you don't look online and check to see if you can find a tank the same color and same cost or lower? Which you can't. It baffles me when people insult my intelligence and skill, or even worse, their own. The amount of skill it takes to work a dent out is incredibly complex, especially on a tank. Cost is something you pay for, value is what you get.

  • @denttime Considering that you can always sell your dented gas tank, which there is a pretty decent market for. It really is expensive.

  • Quality of the work looks good. Probably worth the money for the owner of that bike. Teardown/repair/prep/paint takes time and money - this goes much quicker and the owner won't need to worry about paint matching and downtime. Thanks for sharing.

  • I wish Denttime came to Huntington WV... I have 2 dents about half the size of those in an R1 tank.. Just bought the bike with 1700 miles on it, got it home and noticed it had 2 dents in it, what a pisser. Know anybody in the area?

  • HAHA! $225 dollars for a small dent like that? thats gotta be a joke. I'd hate to see how much it is for a big dent!

  • @baraklee263 I see you have no clue what you are talking about. How much you think it would be to repair a tank with paint or for that matter replacing? Next time do your homework before you post such a stupid comment.

  • @denttime Listen here buddy, I've seen some of your dent pulling, yeah its cool but whenever someone comments saying that sounds too expensive. You just say they are stupid and don't know what they are talking about. Maybe you just think you know everything. But I would never in my life pay that kind of money for a little dent like that. All I'm saying is, for a dent that small that price is really high, now if the dent was alot bigger or more noticable $225 would be pretty good.

  • @denttime sorry bro, body filler and paint including primer, base coat, and clear coat cost me under $200 to paint an entire rear bumper on a small sedan. The body work for this small dent is $10-$25 worth of material. Save some labor costs by removing and draining the gas tank yourself, and sanding off paint around the dent, then send it to a paint shop to get the rest done under $100.

  • @baraklee263 the lowest quote from a body shop for a couple dents on my tank was $320 cash under the table, and that's just with a coat of primer. $225 isn't bad considering you have the factory finish and don't have to go through the trouble of removing the tank, draining the gas, buying a used one on fleabay, etc.

  • @midnightfapper or you could make this tool for less than 10 bucks

  • @rcbasher101 removing a dent, especially from something thick/strong like a gas tank requires a tremendous amount of skill. trust me on this one, i wrench on my own bikes and this definitely isn't a DIY project.

  • heck i do old fashioned body work and i wanna learn to do this would save me so much time in prep and masking and materials but i think it would be pretty hard to pick up on ones own without a experienced pro around guess ill get plenty of practice tho lol

  • Yeah we seriously do need this stuff in Florida. I have two BIG dents on both sides of my tank because of all the shitty drivers here -:(

  • good job, but i kno u need someone to use up some of the gas so i offer my service to ride the bikes until the gas lvl is low enough for u to do what u need to do. lol

  • i love listening to peoples "quick fix" ways of doing this at home. truth is ya can't take short cuts on things like this why do u think people like this get paid the way they do.

i'll be done with auto collision in college next year.

  • 2005 Gsxr 1000... I love that bike!!!

  • $59.52 FTW!!!

  • How much to get you out to Australia to do my Bonneville?

  • i have a 1976 honda 360 with 3 dents in the side of the tank i live in ky so can you tell me where a person is that can do this?

  • Thanks alot guy,

    i appreciate it alot,

    kirk,

  • Hi David,

ive got an 02 kawasaki Vulcan 750 with a tank dent on the side of the gas cap,

im in north kansas so can you tell me where a person is that can do this,????

As I know your out there in san diego, where im from, so its too far for me hahaha,

    thanks again David,

    Kirk

  • look up ace dent repair - Terry Siegal is the owner. Do a search and you should find him.

  • how much did that cost?

  • could you give me the song info?

Nice video by the way -- you did a great job with the dent

  • hahaha you can buy new tanks way cheaper then that on ebay ... but you are really good at removing dents

  • Your probably right IF you find the right color or don't have to pay someone labor to paint it if it's not the right color or pattern. Other than that, most people would rather pay to have the dents removed without going through all the extra trouble and time.

  • So that is what that sticky thing is for!

  • can i make my own hook and try?whattool is he hiting the tank with?

  • If you have to ask those questions, then I suggest not trying PDR. You'll crack your paint and ruin the panel before you know what happened. Only let a pro do this kind of work. But, if you feel the need to try it anyway, don't say I didn't warn you.

  • we all have to learn one way or another though

  • Unless you've been properly trained in this art, you shouldn't try it....period. It's not like the dents pop out. It's taken me 7 years just to get as far as I am and I'm nowhere near the level of the more popular or famous techs who've been doing it for twice as long.

  • yeah i guess so

  • very nice!!

    regards from mexico

  • nice

  • Awesome work, how much did that dent run? Never knew motobikes could be PDR'd...cool!

  • Great job, heyyyyyyy move to Florida,we need you here.

  • wow this is heck of a nice repair
