  • Thanks very much! There was a lot going on in the late sixties and seventies in England, Scotland and Ireland - a time when record companies seem to have given artists freedom to be creative, maybe thanks to producers like Joe Boyds and Sandy Roberton and probably many others. What's great of the music of this period is that a lot of it hasn't dated.

  • Beautifully done! I learnt this song through folk noir group Sol Invictus. They led me to the folk singers of the seventies... An unknown world of beauty revealed.

  • That was awesome! can u send me sheet music, please?

  • @TheDragonMF At the moment I don't have the tab or even the words written down anywhere. I'll let you know if I get anything done

  • @LiteGauge Ok, thank you!

  • Thats a fantastic version of a great song. You play brilliantly! Whats that lovely little piece you do at the end?

  • @ALman8888 Thanks very much - I'd totally forgotten about the little tune at the end. It's my arrangment of Steeleye Span's Lowlands Of Holland from the album Hark The Village Wait. I posted a full version of this a while back with the vocals.

  • @LiteGauge I've just checked out the Span's version and i must say i think your's is better. I think it sounds more heartfelt with just you and the guitar and i have to say the same for your version of Mike Herons maybe someday, (which is how i discovered you) i love that song but i just think the way you play it gives it a bit more beauty. I think the cappo makes a big difference and also you play this little snippet of lowlands faster, it just sounds fantastic!

  • Great job man. Play very well, nice voice.

  • Nice fingerpicking. Bert Jansch´ is great and you catch the nerve of his version and doing just as good!

  • this maybe asking alittle to much, but i would love to learn this song. can you please post a "how to play" video for this song?

    much apprciation :)

    cheers from ireland

  • @Thatdarndoug Thanks very much. The chords are really quite straight-forward - the difficulty is adding the melody in the bass - I'll see about a 'how to'

    regards

    John

  • @LiteGauge oh, will you please tell me what the chords. im sure i can figure it out :)

  • @Thatdarndoug Basically Am C G Am repeated Am C Am C Am G then Am C G Am Em ending Am C G Am.

  • @LiteGauge and what fret is the capo on. and the tuning, please

  • Hey man.... nice one! I like your version of this very much. I was thinking about doing it myself, hence why i was checking it out on youtube!

  • Thanks very much :)

  • This is one of my absolute favourite folk songs, and this is the best version of it that I have heard! Haunting, beautiful... Finally someone makes an arrangement for the song that sounds as dark and eerie as the songs lyrics imply.

  • Thansk very much :)

  • Nicely done..I have been reciting the twa corbies since I was wee, but I really enjoyed hearing done in this way. Look me up on youtube if you wish by typing in The Puddock..you'll find a link better to hear me recite the twa corbies.

  • Thanks very much. I love hearing you recite it

    All the best

    John
