Eccleston is a great actor, but i dont think he was a great (not bad, obviously. watch the video above for proof) doctor. Mostly because of the way he acted towards humans. Kind of an asshole.
The look on his face at 0.30 when he turns back to the TARDIS is just amazing! Nine will always be my favourite Doctor, and the relationship between him and Rose was so beautiful because it was so mysterious, and not at all predictable!
The thing that makes this video so sad is that, at the beginning of it, you're all like, "Yeah! They're gonna conquer the Daleks! :D" Then he runs out, and stops. And you think, "What...?" Then he sends her away...and whenever I watch this, and the part when he turns his head and looks at her comes, I cry a little on the inside...
although everyone will remember david tennant as the best doctor, i think that we forget how fantastic christopher eccleston was. if anything it was harder for eccleston as he had to pick the whole series up when all tennant had to do was continue with ecclestone's work.
The Doctor is noble, caring, just, moral, wise, physically and spiritually beautiful and remains always the same. All his bodies have a very noble and royal appearance and by his face you can realize how moral and wise and loving he is.
@powerhousechipmunk23 yea, but that wouldn't kill the daleks, as we see from episode 6 of this series, daleks are impervious to things like explosions and bullets that would kill humans easily
This scene breaks me every time. The Doctor's pain and sacrifice, Rose's desperation. It's so easy to see that both their hearts are breaking.
And it always gets me how similar this scene is to the wall/Bad Wolf Bay scenes from Doomsday. Rose screaming "take me back, take me back," the Doctor's farewell, the music. Brilliant.

Hmmm... now that I watch this a second time, I wonder how Nine knew where Rose was going to be standing when he recorded the message. The fact that he turns his head to look at her and say "Have a good life" is just a little too pat.
I like to think that maybe the technology is advanced, and it automatically locked onto where the lifeform was standing, and the head would turn in whatever towards wherever she was, and it then, once it had ocated her, the sound system bottd up a notch to make his voice less tinny!
Well. When we (and Rose, for that matter) meet the Doctor (as 9), he has all this rage and fury that he keeps hidden for the most part, but that surfaced every now and then (killing Cassandra, torturing the Dalek). But Rose...Rose's presence in his life, her love and loyalty, changed that about him as the series progressed. Her love for him changed him for the better. By the time he regenerates, he's already less angry and ruthless, more compassionate and, well, and in love.
this always makes me cry the first time i saw it i could not stop crying, i LOVE ROSE SO MUCH I CANT WAIT TILL SHE COMES BACK, AND SHE IS SHE HAS ALREADY BEEN ON DOC WHO, ON THE SONTARAN STRATAGEM, or poison sky i love rose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*sniff* yes Tennant is absolutly brill, as the 10th Doctor- buuuuuuuut Ecclston Was Fantastic!! I Really Hope he comes Back In a Multi Doctor Episode!! Plzzzz Mr Moffat!!
Eccleston will always be my first doctor.

The last 2 episodes in this series are the best finale of all the new series. Simple yet epic, my favourite episode of all time.

The 9th was a darker character because the time took place between the period that 8 regenerate into 9.

If I was the Doctor, I would have:
1. Got loads of C4 from some planet and load Satellite 5 to the brim with them.
2. Piled everyone on the Satellite into the TARDIS (it's so big they'd all fit)
3. Waited for the Daleks to get to Floor 500 (everyone would be protected by the force field).
4. Pilot the TARDIS just next to the Satellite.
5. Detonate the C4 (I'd be protected for the force field and I'd be far away).
6. The Daleks would be in pieces and everyone on the satellite safe.
