  • Good job!

Just one little correction. Te seven years that you referring to applies to the date of first delinquency (DOFD) not when the consumer talks with a collection agency (CA) or acknowledges the debt. That appears in the FCRA

  • Thanks. You do make a great point! We will do a video on the FCRA. We really appreciate the comment :)

  • We need more financial education in our schools. It's amazing how little we know when we graduate. What could be more important than learning money management?

  • bynddrvn5; Thanks sharing the truth. If people owe the debt they should pay (we agree). But you have made our day, by shedding the light on what is happening all over America! Knowledge is power. Peace. ~ J.

  • I think the debt collectors are getting worse. A couple of weekends a month, I volunteer for a financial advice group in Los Angeles. Some of the tactics, I have seen in the past few months are disturbing. I have no problem with people collecting debt owed them, but I have seen several cases where there was some billing error. We faxed docs showing the debt was paid and the collection agency refused to cancel the debt? Knowledge is power, keep up the good work!

  • Champ2685, I live in Florida you can find me. But please be advised, there are "internet stalking" Laws. Also, you don't know me, or what I know. If you seek me out, you better bring a couple of friends, because I intend to defend myself.

We are not concerned about the quality of the videos. we are here to help people. I know that really pisses you off, but we don't care.

In the mean-time, if you want to fight me, email me with your request. Loser.

  • both of you just ignore euch other- your wasting everyones time- mostly your own.

Champ is a loser for starting it- so what? delete him and flag him for spam. move on.

  • the more i watch this lame cheep video the more i feel like coming to where ever you are and punching you in the face.

please stop telling people false info.

you should be charged with misrepretation, you are giving people the wrong impression.

noticing that you also mentioned thta we call neighbours...true we do but we wouldnt have to if you just picked up ur phone or called us back

  • if u dont pay in NH the judge acts collector he will bleed u dry. i witnessed a veteran get beat up by judge he had a rebutal for every excuse under the sun. this is all pretty on video but real world? i pleaded guilty on a traffic ticket when i saw judge and if u dont go to court u get capias u go to jail.real facts. the judge had vet go to vet admin center to get help for a job and the judge was a vet too. he made the vet in his 60's look like a bum i think he said amateur nite after

  • The question is, why did the Veteran go to Court alone? We realize this is the real world that's why we are Independent Pre-Paid Legal Associates as well. An Attorney could have helped the Veteran.

If you were a memeber of Pre-Paid Legal, you'd have 24-hour access to an attorney if you're ever detained or arrested. We all know we have rights, and now, if ever faced with detainment, you'll know who to call to make sure your rights are represented.

  • Its pretty sad. I am a collector. What i wonder is why folks borrow money and buy things that they can't? I am sure if someone took your money, and didn't pay you back, you would obviously call them, "take them to court" in order to get your money back. Not all collectors are bad people, we strive to offer the best customer service, and get people back on track with their bills. We do this so that we can stop the calls, protect YOUR credit and YOUR NAME, and go back to your normal life.

  • What's pretty sad is that the same companies that have been ripping people off for years, are now facing the same realities of the Middle-Class American. If I did loan someone money I wouldn't change the "terms" of the contract to suit my own greed. I would live up to the contract.

Since, you're a "Collector" whom did you loan money to? Why are you calling people regarding business that you had nothing to do with. Call yourself what you want, but we call them Debt Terrorist.

  • people who are saying pay your bills and no one will call you are most likly the little 12 year old kids who polute youtube, they have there mommys and daddys pay for everything and have no value of a dollar or what the real world is currently like, be lucky your parents provide everything for you, just wait, you know how people tell you its noit easy being a "grown up" it really isnt wait until myou get your first offical bills, REAL life is going to hit you like a ton of motha fuckin BRICKS

  • Dear Ch3mical, you are right. Alot of people on youtube don't know what the real world is like and the other ones saying "pay your bills" are just debt collectors.

    Great point!

  • This is a nicely done video. Also, very informative.

  • Thank you Ms. SatinQueen!

  • I received a collection letter stating I owed more then $200 for a cell phone bill. I sent a validation letter, within just a couple of days of the request reaching 30 days, I received a single sheet of paper of a "bill" that was a copy not the original that could've easily been made from a computer. None of the requests I made, including how the amount they say I owe was calculated, proof they can legally collect in my state etc. so I sent a second request...how many chances should I give them?

  • F.Y.I -- they legally only have to send you that first letter that says they're trying to collect a bill for xxx.xx amt. and unfortunately, it's up to you to get that info from the original creditor. sorry bud.

  • peace to this planet ...............through lov and courage will bring peace to this planet I am moon goddess kisses 7777 LLLLLLLL 7777 kisses I am moon goddess will bring
  • More and more people, good, hard working people of this country, are struggling. They have limited resources in a sinking economy.

Many of these people are abused, daily, by debt collectors whose tactics prove they can only be called terrorists.

Thank you for making this video for these people.

  • Some people don't have health insurance. They have a medical emergency and are in financial ruin.

Some people are laid off from their jobs. Jobs they wanted to keep, that they enjoyed working but they lost. They are now in financial ruin.

Some people are struggling because of high gas prices/long commutes. They can no longer pay their bills.

  • Good points. Thanks!

  • LMAO!!! Exactly! Pay your bills and no one will come looking for you!

  • EyeLoveMath,

That's not TRUE. What about ID Theft? What about when the debt is not owed? Trust me, the Debt Terrorist don't care if you REALLY DO NOT OWE THE DEBT.

If THE DEBT TERRORIST have an account with YOUR name and an SSN (which may not even match!)they try to collect - period!

We tell people to pay their bills, but we also give them help them to protect themselves if they DON'T OWE the Debt.

  • mudwhistle, We are never surprised when a Debt Terrorist makes stereotypes like, "grill on layaway".

Unfortunatley it shows your level of education and lack of awarness of debt issues.

Do yourslef a favor, google: "Mandatory Arbitration Clauses","Junk Debt Buyers" or "Predatory Lenders".

In the meant-time thanks for putting your ignorance on display for the world to see (unlike your picture). When other people read your racist sterotype they'll know how a Debt Terrorist thinks.

  • Here's the best way to get collectors off your back. PAY YOUR DAMN BILLS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!

  • Ha Ha Ha...It never surprises me when a Debt Terrorist says "pay your damn bills". I did some research on you Jon.

Here's what your profile says: "Hi i'm Jon. I'm 20...I work full-time as a Debt Collector..."

It never surprises me when a Debt Collector ignores the facts, the laws and morals to make a quick buck. All DT's say "pay your bills", ignoring the rest. Make sure they owe the bill [first] before you try to collect.

  • So i'm a terrorist now? Ouch. You know bankruptcy has gotten a really bad stigma in society, but honestly it's not as a bad as some people think. Sure it stays on your credit for 7 years but it really can help you get back on your feet, i'm in the process of filing for ch. 7 bankruptcy, kind of ironic huh since i work at a collection agency? Believe me I'm at work collecting debt, than I come home and get phone calls from debt collectors. What do you think about bankruptcy.

  • Jon, Bankruptcy should be avoided.

For one you have to go through debt counseling for 6 months, you don't get a 'clean sweep' and it will stay on your credit for up to 20 years [sometimes longer].

I think you are too young to consider Bankruptcy.

You know that you can settle your debts? Debt Settlement is a much better alternative to Bankruptcy.

Thanks for your response to my email.

    Best regards,

    J.

  • Sadly, it's more than just a 7 year stigma. The fact that you had a bankruptcy at ALL will come up for years after that 7 year period and help creditors DENY you credit. People are people and they'll look at that bankruptcy fact for years after the "7 year limit". i went through it and my rating is neither good nor bad, but no one will look at me for a credit card to get my rating going again, 11 YEARS AFTER the fact.

  • Yea, Bankruptcy sucks. After the Bankruptcy Abuse and Consumer Protections Act of 2005, was signed into Law, Bankruptcy can now haunt you in forever.

If you want credit have you considered a secured secondary market credit card? There are some honest ones out there. All have massive fees though.

If you find a secured Credit Card that reports to the big three CB's, it can help you But I'm not a big believer in Credit in the first place.

    Great post. ~ J.

  • u r too young to have any debt and probably live with your folks so wtf can u say

  • Get this ,12 yrs ago i filed bankrupcy .Cause i was young n dumb lol ..now i have a colection agent calling me about one of the debt's .That i filed under us bankrupcy.

Isn't that against dfederal law what there doing ? I just laugh at them an told them they needed to talk too my lawyer lmao

  • Tragically, this happens all the time. Debt Terrorist will try to collect a debt that was discharged in Bankruptcy. 1st Check the Statue of Limitations for collection in your state. 2. Please Validate this debt and inform the DT that this debt was discharged in bankruptcy.

You may have to hire a lawyer to verbally smack the Debt Terrorist around to get them off your back. We have access to a network experienced attorneys [in your state] to help you. Give us a call.

  • I have paid all my debts. I don't run up credit. Out of the blue I got a call today from a collector saying I owe $235 to Lowes. We have paid in full and closed the account. He says he sent collection notices. He sent them to an address we haven't been at for 3 years. He said it wasn't his fault I didn't get it. They say they have sent notices and phone calls. This was the first I talked to them. How can I pay debt I didn't know about? What is the law when you don't get the notices?

  • Good question, many times the 1st party creditor will add charges onto paid and closed accounts. For example; if you payed off your outstanding balance [in full] but have an identity theift insurance fee of say $5. If you make that $5 payment late - or don't pay it because you didn't know about it you'll get a late fee from $30 - $50, plus penalty fees of $30 - $50 - plus interest. So a %5 charge [late or missed] could explode to over $200.

    Please Validate this debt?

    Best regards,

  • The best way to avoid all of this is to simply not borrow money you can't afford to pay back. When you sign a legal contract it always includes the terms and conditions which include things such as interest. What you fail to understand is that you are promoting the conduct of liars and sneaks who borrow money and don't return it. No, it is not stealing money from debtors because the money doesn't actually belong to them in the first place.

Grow up, get a job and pay your bills.

  • What happens when you borrow money, you are paying it back but then creditor changes the "terms" charging you double of what you agreed to pay?

What about medical issues? You know when your insurance denies payment for what should have been covered, after service, forcing you to fit the bill?

These are just two of many debt situations that people find themselves in. It's not just a matter of "paying your debt".

Lastly, we help people pay their debt.

  • Quik Q:

    I ow'd ebay £23/$50 which I forgot about.

Two months later a company contacted me saying they are calling on behalf of ebay and that ebay handed over the info needed and that now I ow $70 indstead of $50.

Well thats not the point, what I'm asking is, are these 3rd party debt collectors? if so can I mess with them for a bit? becuase they keep saying it will rise every week etc. thanks.

  • Great video. What you are saying is valuable information - I wish I had heard it 10 years ago. To all those posting negative comments, a large number of the people hounded by the debt terrorists (perfect label) have already paid the bill in question, or, in fact, never even owed it. (For example, credit cards from companies you never dealt with.) I know that first hand...Good job TheWaronDebt.

  • Hey, Zbumpers! Thanks for the encouraging comment. We need more people like you. Happy Thanksgiving!

We are sure Thankful for people like you!

    ~ J. Ford, DEBT WARRIORS!

  • Here's your research man, been a collector for 7 yrs I make a damn good living and I do it right please believe when my head hits my pillow at night after my prayers I sleep like a log. why??? Because I know what I did all day just helped a few people get outta debt a damn good feeling. There are thiefs that open up credit cards rack em up 15-35k and NEVER have intention on willingly paying it back! What, are you kidding me?That's stealing and you think it's okay.Terrible get a grip and a real job

  • You better get another job. As we speak Congress is investigating your industry. I told you to do your research. The debt collection industry is on the ropes.

My job is helping people get out of debt without going futher into debt.

  • Anyone can investigate,as long as a collector is abiding by the laws and policies there's nothing to worry about as far as being investigated. It's not illegal to collect a debt that is owed you know. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong, it is illegal to take thngs you don't pay for right?? yeah, I think that's called theft isn't it? You wanna bitch about intrest rates..you can thank your fellow debtors for that becuase everytime someone DOESN'T pay thier bill, interest gets hiked on us ALL

  • Problem is, many collectors DON'T abide by the laws. In the past, I've had DT's call late at night, verbally abuse me, threaten me, *scream* at me, ignore statements that I will only deal with the original creditor or ignored legal cease and desist letters... ALL OF THE ABOVE IS ILLEGAL. Yet the DT's continue in order to meet their quotas and preserve THEIR jobs. The hands of the DT's are NOT clean and they're taught to dehumanize people. Disgusting.

  • Dear WhiteTrashMessiah, that's our problem as well. DT's are not normally nice people. They do love to scream. That's why we say hang up the phone.

Meeting their quota is all that they are about. They will do and say anything to do it. They dehumanize people to make them feel small and fearful. The DT's practices are heinous!

Great points. great comment. Happy Thanksgiving.

    ~ J.

    P.S. Please don't "Rick-Roll" me - LOL?

  • I'm so sick of people not doing their research before they take a position on issues. Do your home-work. Debt Terrorist are NOT OWED ANY MONEY!

  • Why do think it's okay to screw someone out of money? Grow up and pay your bills debtor. You don't have the right to other people's labor and money. People with your mentality deserve worse than calls and letters. It's called personal responsibility and living within your means, you should try it out.

  • Why do you think that Congress is trying to pass a 'Debtors Bill of Rights'? Because for too long Creditors have been stealing money from unsuspecting Debtors.

It's easy to say "pay your bills" or "personal responsibility". It's an easy out for those who are stealing money from unsuspecting Debtors. So you're saying "let Creditors and Debt Terrorist screw Debtors and get away with it." We don't think so.

We are just getting started - stay tuned.

  • Keep up the good work.

  • The debt collectors are doing a job, DON'T BUY THE STUFF IF YOU CANNOT PAY FOR IT.

This is ridiculous, debt terrorist?? I pay my bills work my butt off, live within my means while others buy buy buy.

The debtors are rewarded in this society. It really aggravates me. Who is paying for this????

People open your eyes, what is wrong is being called right and what is right is being called wrong.

  • Try this. DON'T BUY UNNEEDED CRAP THAT YOU CANNOT PAY FOR AND PAY YOUR DAMN BILLS. I'm so sick of people bitching when it's likely their fault most of the time. I'm sick of working everyday for everything I own while others constantly ask for a break. 'Debt Terrorist'? Give me a break. Those people are DOING THEIR JOBS TO PAY THEIR BILLS. Sounds like something YOU should be doing.

  • The Bible says, "You shall not charge interest to your countrymen: interest on money, food, or anything that may be loaned at interest". ~ Deuteronomy 23:19

  • my bible says be responsible and pay your loans on time. Understand??

  • Sergio, Your profile says, "I'm a very cool, open minded person". You must be a Debt Terrorist.

We AGREE morally that you should pay any debt you owe. I'd love to know what scripture in the bible you refer to. Please give verse?

    Thank you!

  • Debt "Terrorist? WTF is that all about? Here's a concept, how about you actually PAY YOUR DEBTS and stop living past your means! WOW, now that's a concept! Instead of going and getting that big-screen TV and new car every 3 years, how about you save a little and maybe buy a used car and make it last and stop living your life on credit cards you cant afford and maybe you won't get calls from credit cards companies actually expecting you to pay what you OWE THEM!

  • WTF is right! How can you suggest that consumers pay their bills while the government bails out Big Banks? Google "Bear Sterns" Bail-out.

Here's a concept, don't change the credit terms AFTER the credit contract has been signed. Hold the banks to the same standards that you hold consumers to. Make the banks pay what they owe as well.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • I've couldn't have explained it better! Love your videos on this subject and forward to my tenant who is having a problem with a collector. I used these techniques to clean up my credit for years!

  • OK, what if you borrowed $100 on a credit card and agreed to pay it at 10% interest. No problem right? Now, what if instead of the 10% interest you agreed to - you're being charged 20% interest or higher on that same Credit Card?

This happens all the time. Creditors reserve the right to "change the terms" and then abuse that right.

Don't get me started on those who buy old and outdated debt.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • I see so many videos on "debt terrorists" JUST PAY YOUR BILLS PEOPLE! I agree if certain places call you up and harass you and bully you it's one thing, but come on, why would they be calling you if you didn't cause it? If someone borrowed 100$ from you, you'd freak out if they don't pay it back. You borrow over a grand from a credit card agency and get all pissy when they want it back.

  • The Bible says, "You shall not charge interest to your countrymen: interest on money, food, or anything that may be loaned at interest". ~ Deuteronomy 23:19

  • Thanks for this video. A credit bureau called me saying I owe $5000 to the apartment complex I moved out of because I broke my lease. I had to break my lease because I moved out of state for a job. They were trying to get me to pay six months worth of rent for a place that was rented out to someone else already. I told them I don't owe them anything.

  • Someone trying to collect money owed to them is not a debt terrorist. Misusing the language is an abomination. The best way to war on debt is to live within your means. Americans have come to believe that they have the right to anything and everything. Well, sweetheart, the chickens are coming home to roost. And it ain't pretty.

  • Maybe you should research on a who a debt terrorist is. We are talking about the 3rd Party debt Terrorist (code name DCT).

We are not talking about the 1st Party Creditor. We are talking about the 3rd Party Debt Terrorist. The DCT buys "charged-off" debt for as little as 7 cents on the dollar. The 3rd Party DCT buys someones misfortune for chump change.

Thanks for the comment. But please do your research on the facts and you'll be as angry as we are?
