  • Not much beats a beautiful baroque slow movement. Loved it - a great Venetian!!!

    *•♪¸.•*¨¨*•.¸¸¸.•*•♪ღ♪•« …. Hᴜɢʜ….TU…..

  • Favoloso!!!

  • Alba o tramonto? Nascita o morte?

  • I heard this in a movie but I can't remember in which one... somebody help?

  • @ElenaXVI Anonimo veneziano? Venetian anonymous?

  • @tre6nove No actually I remembered it was in the Russian/Soviet cartoon "Conflict". You can look it up on yt if you want :)

  • @ElenaXVI The House of Mirth maybe?

  • For some decades now I have been listening to this on a steadily degrading cassette. It is wonderful to hear the fullness back again. Thank you for uploading this.

  • It is divine.

  • il pezzo è SUBLIME, l'interpretazione è FANTASTICA: BRAVO!!

  • Too bad that the recording is not in the right key (Dm).Is a tone lower (Cm) which means that it´s sounding a bit different, but of course it is beautiful also.

  • Makes me melt!

  • è in do minore inizia col do mib mib sol ....

  • iwas checking out rob marcello (neoclassical metal guitarist)

  • @lascc61

Hai ragione infatti è Do minore, non "C".

  • Wonderful baroque music.

  • I agree with you, at times melancholy music is precisely what we need most -- thank you for sharing this music of A. Marcello which has helped me on a very sad day.

  • Luverly! If you're into this, then check out the first movement of Carl Dittersdorf's Sinfonia No.4 in F major (which is listed under the title: C.D.v. Dittersdorf - Sinfonia No.4 in F major 'The rescue of Andromeda...': I. Adagio non molto). And it's definitely one to listen to in the dead of night (And his requiem is pretty damn good too!). And on a slightly different note.....ahem.....check out Mozart's Symphony No.6 if you've never heard it before, and especially the second movement. Bliss!

  • @malcolmcolemann: The rescue of Andromeda by C.D. v. Dittersdorf is in my opinion absolutely inferior to this magnificent piece by Marcello. It's the vibrato that I miss in Dittersdorf's composition.

  • @Leviwosc Two words: Ear & Beholder! Everyone that I have shared it with thinks it is v beautiful. & as you may have noticed in the comments on the page, Meyerbeer - who has uploaded literally thousands of classical pieces on to Youtube - describes it thus: "The most wondelful adagio's i know, divine!". I would suggest that if a thousand people who had never heard it - who are into classical music (& even if they're not!) - listened to it, 98/99% of them would love it. As they would Marcello's

  • Too wonderful for me to remain calm. As I listen, I feel the sins of my past bringing me to tears.

  • great music and amazing pics...

  • This is a masterpiece!Thank you for posting!

All good wishes for the listeners!

  • The best recording ever is Pierre Pierlot on Erato - probably 40 years old. His freeform embellishments raise this recording to #1 IMHO.

  • Alessandro Marcello - Adagio in C minor

    FANTASTIC THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL SONG.

  • @Wobuzowatsj ... he is saying, that marcello brothers bought this adagio off Bach.. marcello didn't compose it.....

  • isn't this in D MINOR?!?

  • Gracias por compartir. Saludos cordiales.

  • Forget about Rock and all the others. THIS IS music

  • fantastic. magic!!!!!!!!!! no words, emotions only & tears

  • @gomidecarlos.

Tienen otras muchas composiciones.

  • @gomidecarlos bach used this piece to train his ornamentation skills

  • athough Bach wrote a version for harpsichord of this concert, it is still unclear and unproved if the Marcello brothers bought the piece from him. At that time, Bach had contact with the italian school and compositions of Vivaldi and others... I would not be surprised if this concerto is a work from Bach... it´s very refined and inspired... characteristic from the slow movements of hin concertos... ir really pretty...

  • @Wobuzowatsj He says that A. and B. Marcello was two brothers, composers of the baroque age. They was very rich and they bought musics from other composers, and this adagio, that someone ascribes to Bach, too. Many people refer this music to Alessandro, others to Benedetto, but the majority attributes it to Bach that sold it to the brothers.

    Sorry for my poor English!

  • grazie

  • @Wobuzowatsj

Well, Portuguese is the 6th most spoken language (more than both French+Italian) in the world, but I will translate. "He basically said that Allessandro and Benedetto were brothers and baroque composers. They were really rich and supposedly bought many compositions. Some think this is composed by Alessandro, some think by Benedetto, but Bach probably wrote it and the brothers bought it from him"- That is what he said

  • @Zeca2009: Thank you for your translation.

About languages: Chinese is without a doubt the biggest language on earth. Yet it's not the most widely learnt language. Chinese is pretty much useless on all continents except for Asia.

Portuguese is a big language because Brazil is a big country. But besides Portugal and Brazil there are hardly any countries were Portuguese is an official language. Portuguese isn't a lingua franca, like French, which is spoken in several countries.

  • @Leviwosc

Yes, I agree with you that French is spoken in more countries (we have more native speakers though). But, Portuguese is the official language in 10 countries and is obligatory in 10 other countries. Don't sell us short :-) au revoir :-)

  • e com'è dolce piangere su queste note...

  • Beautiful recording! Sorry it took too much time for me to approve it as a video response, I have overlooked the request..

  • What tempo was this taken at?

  • Semplicemente immortale. Meraviglioso!

  • Alessandro Marcello(1669-1747) Venetian, composed this " Adagio, Dal Concerto Per Oboe e Orchestra D'Archi in Do Minore ". Marcello, baroque musician was also poet and philosopher. Bach divulged it and made a transcription for harpsichord ( BWV 974 )...Italian director Enrico Maria Salerno's " The Anonymous Venetian " (1970) wonderful film included this music. One word : Sublime.

  • alessandro marcello is one of the best italian compositor in baroque with vivaldi.

  • I played this piece my senior year of high school. Absolutely brilliant piece. I still get the chills listening to it.

  • great....except the last trill.

  • i wish i could play it that good

  • Gee - I thought I had some little idea about music, but I've never heard this, and a hundred thousand viewers tell me now far behind I am !

    They're right, it's lovely.

  • Stattlich, sanft, fürsterlich, göttlich, sacht, höchstvorzüglich, paradiesankundigend, hirtstäblich, himmlisch, prinzhaft. Mit anderen auserwählten Worten: staufisch und edelschwäbisch!

  • For we are the makers of music

and we are the dreamers of dreams

    wandering by lonely sea breakers

    and dwelling by desolate streams

  • I LOVE IT!! :DDD

  • part of what is so amazing about this piece is that it is not even written by a noted composer. yet even the most insignificant of Baroque composers, still produced such beautifully heavenly music like this piece

  • excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its d-minor not c.

  • my ears tell me its c minor.

but there is a version in d minor too.

One of the brothers stole it from the other?!

  • @rene16rovers yes you are right.

  • This is real music....Baroque is the most beautiful music ever created, in my humble opinion.

  • other than Mozart, who was the greatest musical composer who ever lived, i agree with you

  • @PhilosophicalViking here here.. loooooooooove Baroque, i think my flute teacher does too as he doesn't mind me continually playing it.. ahhaahhahaaa. and this one!! heaven!!!

  • @PhilosophicalViking

This is entirely my opinion too. The most beautiful music that humans have ever imagined ...

  • @PhilosophicalViking Are you familiar with the first movement of Dittersdorf's Sinfonia No.4. If not, please have a listen sometime and let us know what you think/feel about it. It's listed on Youtube under the title: C.D.v. Dittersdorf - Sinfonia No.4 in F major 'The rescue of Andromeda...': I. Adagio non molto Thanks.

  • Not only do I agree with you 100%, but it is comforting to know that I am not the only one who thinks this way. I have many hundreds of Baroque musical CD's which I enjoy so much listening to on a fairly consistent basis

  • @PhilosophicalViking

in agreement with you. Too bad not many people are aware of this music at all.

    CONSIGLIATISSIMA!!!!

  • we are touched by an angel wing!

  • Prachtig

  • REALLY WONDERFUL AND INSPIRED.

  • awesome!

  • jakież to piękne...

  • It's by Alessandro Marcello and previously was supposed to be by his brtoher Benedetto, Bach made a transcription for harpsichord

  • This sounds like the Pierre Pierlot recoding on Erato - the best of them all. I'd love to have this on a CD.

  • BEAUTIFULLY DONE. BRAVO

  • Struggente!

  • Oh God this is so painfully beautiful....love the strict rhythm and haunting melody...It was also used as the theme in the movie The House of Mirth

  • @htshoward Please come and take part in our 'survey' - which involves listening to a piece of music you are probably unfamiliar with - and let us know what you think/feel about it. See relevant comments on page. Cheers.

  • @malcolmcolemann Sure, but I don't see the survey? I subscribed to your page, but I don't see the survey. Thanks.

  • Magistral! Muzica eterna!

  • meraviglioso

  • great song!

  • beautifully played

  • Thanks!!!!!!!

  • I can assure you that the composer is *Alessandro* Marcello, not Benedetto.

  • musica e immagini mozzafiato!bellissime!

I think you are confused. This composition comes from a cd and there is written upon the cd case that this composition has been composed by Benedetto Marcello.

I'm sorry for my poor Italian.

  • Scusami...puoi darmi i titoli delle tracce perchè non riesco a scaricarlo in internet

  • Step87byme! bravo! hai ragione!

  • a slow movement of true musical art....

  • heavenly music!

The main theme is so sweet and sound so modern!

    adorable slide too!

  • Eccellente
