I didn't knew it was better to sart to shade from middle tones. At art school teacher have teach me to shade from light tones first. I will keep this tip in mind next time i will try to do a portrait

Great Matt...I would love to see it in Color as well. But as a new member to your site, I haven't seen any colored pencil portraits and was wondering if you would do one for us at some point.

I have been there many times but I'm wondering, what about the times when you get so discouraged, you just don't know where to go with the drawing anymore? I have a few that I would love to finish and I don't want to give up but I got some kind of artist block and just don't know what to do next. Any suggestions?

Brilliant advice, i must say im very guilty of the "boom, black lash" lol not to mention highlights >_> All too often my drawings come out flat and cartoony.

This is one lesson i have really taken to heart!
