  • hey does this work with windows 7?

  • yes wubi is very safe to install ubuntu and unistall of wubi is very easy as a program.

  • NEVER select skip. I did that and ubuntu didn't work, so I reinstalled it.

  • hey m8, can i use wubi to install other distros ? how ?

  • So you have Removed Linux and you still get a prompt when you boot up to boot into linux?

If thats your problem then theres a free program called EasyBCD and you can use that to remove it from the Windows boot.ini (thats what asks you to choose what OS to boot into!) and then your pc wont ask you anymore!

  • Thank you for the answer. What i wanted was to get rid of the grub dual boot screen.

I will try the program you mention and let you know.

  • I don't recommend Wubi because some limitations what i dont remember. Wubi uninstall from Vista didn't work. I had Raid0 4x, Vista on non raid, Wubi Ubuntu on IDE HD. I don't know how, but Wubi killed my raid0. I had to reset it from bios then Vista didn't boot up nomo.

  • yes thats what is happening to me right now but just press "ENTER" Ane type "exit" And It will boot up ubuntu.

    tha's how i do it

  • linux sucks its so difficult to just install a friggin program like flash player i gave up.

  • Haha thats the fun in figuring out. But linux isn't for everyone. Takes time to learn somethings.

  • @wisin1 its well easy the first time i used Linux u was able to install flash so easily! the same method for windows works for ubuntu too!

  • @wisin1 actually it is not that difficult especially if you are using Ubuntu 10.04

  • @wisin1 i second that, linux isnt for everyone, but really, you dont have to say it sucks. anyone who really knows computers has a lot of respect for linux and its systems. even though i also dont identify with it 100%, its still better than a mac so be happy!

  • Damn This Is A Great Tut But I Just Looked Up To My Graphic Card And I Watched Its A ATI Xpress 200.

So does it mean my desktop effect won't work???

  • They work on the xpress 200 don't worry.

  • ok then thanx i'm going to try wubi and see what happens.

  • Not creating a seperate partition for Ubuntu is not very smart, because you'll probably end up having GRUB issues on startup in the event that something corrupts...

If you've decided to install a new OS then please take the time to read some info on it, otherwise stick to Bimbows ^^

  • there is a fucking blank screen after i log on into Ubuntu using the Wubi virtual PC program thingy. I do not want to create a partition for Ubuntu without knowing the nuts and bolts of the OS. Do you know how i can circumvent this problem?

  • how do u change between windows and ubuntu?

or are u stuck with ubuntu!

  • at the booting screen, it'll ask if u want vista or linux.

  • nice song

  • can this work on xp

  • yes

  • it says it can on the website

  • I partitioned my hard disk into two pieces for my windows, one C;/ one E;/. windows is on C:\,

but i wanna have it on E;/ , so is it okay if i install it one e?

  • sorry, i meant defragmented

  • Yes

  • ?? Okay to install on e?

  • thank you so much may be I'd better try again. I like your video very much.

  • Im thinking of doing a remake....due to quality and sound.

  • but can there be any reason for not showing up in the boot menu???

  • Not that i know of. Maybe a bad install.

  • I can't see the ubuntu option in boot menu :(

  • do the 1337 visual effects of ubuntu included in wubi?

  • I believe they are....but its not hard to install (the 1337 visual effects are called Compiz.)

  • Will it Erase Everything on my hard drive or it'll make another folder and do a dual boot on the same hard drive?.

  • It will just create a folder on your hard drive, should be no worries about killing your Xp partition.

  • Could this work on Xp?.

  • Yes it does work for Xp.

  • Will ubuntu automatically install my graphic card software, etc?

  • No you will have to install your graphics card software your self....guide can be found how to do it (pretty easy, especially ATI)

  • "num lock will probably be on or off"

  • Thanks heaps

    Subscribed.

  • thanks man

  • my god, this was a waste of time trying an operating system that makes downloading a flashplayer to complicated. Its ridiculous.

  • n00b

  • its ok being a "n00b" i don't devote my life to operating systems.

  • Lol Ubuntu isn't made for the Simple but for the Power user. (for now)

  • no duh, it just suks cause i like it, but like you said, "not for the simple" its a shame i had to uninstall it. :( All these other OS spoiled me i guess.

  • HEY I HAVE A BIG QUESTION!!!!! ummm what am i suposed to do if i dual boot into Ubuntu and the screen looks all messed up and hase little white linse going across it?! i installed wubi last night and found out that it did that... know a way to fix?! o.o

  • The only thing i can think of is a bad install or your graphics card......but there could be several other reasons why... go check the forums

  • hmmm... nah ill just uninstall it and look for the mac os x :D

  • nice video bro, i just got ubuntu downloaded to my desktop cant watch youtube, dont kn ow how to activate flash help...!

  • just go into add/remove under applications, then in the show box select "All Available Applications" then type in flash :-) While you're at it get Java, all the GStreamer plugins and if you want to have fun with your desktop then type Compiz and select those associated programs for desktop effects.

  • thanks but i dueled boot it another way without wubi

    now i have both

but dont know how 2 gett the 3d cube and all the efects and themes :( anyy one know !? :S

  • google for Beryl,Compiz

  • You should download Linux drivers for your 3D adapter (video card). But only works with nVidia and ATI cards.

  • what do i need to do to dualboot if i have already installed ubuntu

  • d'u want to install winxp after ubuntu installation? the google for "Windows XP after Ubuntu". there are howto's online.

  • ok i did it

then it goes to some command thing

help please i installed it perfectly b4

    i have a acer aspire 7720

  • def95 you need to push esc after u click ubuntu and choose first option to install :)

  • says it will take 20 mins. i've already had ubuntu on my pc. this is my laptop hopefully it is easier

  • I did wubi Over Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 installed well After the second time rebooted it showed up like a DOS Like Menu and said BusyBox Built in shell what did I do wrong?

  • You have to uninstall Wubi and reinstall it.

But you should reboot Windows with the Start Menu.

  • im using it now and it says it will take 115 hours

  • i just dont want to install it and wait 1 month for it to load cuz thats what happend to my friend

  • im started installing it half an hour ago. I hope it goes ok.

  • I'm installing it now. Looks like that's easiest way to install Ubuntu :D When I wake up it will be ready. Thanks

  • Omg thx... I didnt know about the restart crap and was begining to get really pissed off lol.

  • haha yah im thinkin about doing a new video about this once i get a camera and something lil better quality so everyone can see/hear everything.

  • will this delete my windows vista?

do i need another hard drive?

  • THis should not delete windows vista some people have complained that it has corrupted it so use at your own risk *i have done it to my computer multiple times and nothing has happened.* No you dont need another Hard Drive.

  • thanks!

i got it but i dont have the cube thing

  • Cube thing? You mean the multiple desktop effect? You need Compiz Fusion

  • I have a 500 gb hard disk.. And I opened my computer up, theres 1 drive. When i go into computer, theres C: and D: should I install it on d:?

  • check if D: is your disc drive, it might be, most likely go with C:

  • aw...you're so quiet. =/

  • i have used Wubi to install both ubuntu and kubuntu. problem is i never get to the desktop, i always come to the command shell . cant do anything. i read something about ATI driver problems and i have to change to vesa.. either way im giving up soon.. any suggestions?

  • You might want to check wubi/ubuntu forums. The linux community has been aving trouble with ati drivers/graphics cards because of the lack of source code given out by ati so u may be out of luck for right now enless u change over to nvidia *i believe all of there cards r supported for linux*

  • Of course it'd have to be the graphics card I have...

  • Even though I don't have it because of my card *sigh*. I think the cube function requires the "Beryl Theme" check it out on beryl-project(DoT)org

  • anybody knows how to do this on a mac?

  • you can not do this on a mac.

  • They're planning to release a Mac (of Wubi) version though... It will be called Mubi, but knowing Ubuntu it might not be supported for a while.

  • Yah im looking forward to that one.

  • Chances are though it might not be PPC, probably Intel only (given the fact that PPC really isn't supported by Ubuntu, at least I'm having trouble finding a working copy :P )

  • haha

  • I'm really tempted to re instal ubuntu like this, but is there any more news about ATi Radeon card support?

  • Not that i know of.

  • but i did already have unbuntu installed from the website just never opened but that shouldnt change anything....

  • hey... I did all the steps using Wubi and Linux everything shows up but when i logged out after the linux was installing and i came back in to login in it would loging then monitor would go to sleep then come back to the login screen again and again... what do i do?

  • You may want to check the Wubi forums im not sure about your issue.

  • but see i want windows back

  • Windows should still be there if not well...then....you will have to reinstall windows.

  • it was dleted

  • If you dont have windows you cant use wubi.

  • but what if i want windows

  • Windows will still be there. Windows is not deleted.

  • what if you already have ubuntu????

  • Then you would have ubuntu on there twice.

  • do i have to restart my computer twice after downloading?? .....and .how can i uninstall it in case i don't like it??

ps sorry for my English lol

  • Yes twice once after installing on to windows and then once after the installation of ubuntu.

Yes you can unistall it just go to add/remove programs and should be under WUBI

  • ok tanks a lot it did work

  • can this work on windows 2000 i need help

  • I believe it only works on windows xp and vista but i dont believe it works on 2000.

  • works on 98, 2000, xp, vista

  • oops nevermind about my comment below

  • lol ok

  • how do i get it off?

  • i keep hearing this program formats your harddrive? does it?

  • no it doesn't, this linux installer is great! now my problem is installing drivers, right now i'm on the xp SO, looking for drivers for a dv2000 hp notebook, cuz ubuntu doesn't detect my wireless card.

  • now, for newbies who wants to use Linux like me, how do i install beryl on this distro, any tutos to use linux?

  • use compiz fusion

  • you can use a sudo-apt get command i think but i havent installed linux yet either

  • If i install it using this method, it will consume linux and windows resources as well? or it will run as a separated OS, Cuz the reason i want Linux is velocity.

  • It runs as a seperate OS. Will not erase windows.

  • atlast i found way to install ubuntu dual boot with xp its my 1st tym to try that OS

  • You should put in the decription that it is officially supported and that it's in the 8.04 Live CD.

  • Will do.

  • you mention in the description that it works for xp and vista, but what about windows 2000?

  • Uhhhh im not sure you may want to search about that but i havent seen or heard anything about windows 2000.

  • I've downloaded latest version from school .. internet is too slow at home to do the wubi way .. they didn't consider that when they made that program :P

  • Yes, what If you downloaded the ISO image already, how would you install it like that?

  • I believe u could put it in the wubi folder but you may just want to let wubi download it for just incase you have a version that does not work with it.

  • I have Ubuntu 7.10 Live CD. How can i install it using Wubi???

  • You cant.

  • Yes you can. Just place the ISO file in the same folder you download WUBI.

  • Yes but i dont believe you can use a Live CD if you were to have a copy of ubuntu7.10 or and then drag file to wubi folder then yes you could use that but not a live cd.

  • you can, extract the ISO file [from the cd's folder] and when you are going to install linux it asks if u want to download a new one, or if you have one use it, press to use ur own and locate to the one you extracted. trust me it'll work i used openSUSE 10.3 for my install instead of shitty ubuntu XD

  • Yes but we are talking about a LIVE CD...not just an ISO.

  • I would think twice about installing Ubuntu this was. If you want to use Ubuntu, you have to restart your computer each time and again in order to get back to your primary OS. A way to use Ubuntu and have it within Windows is to use VMware Server (or some simular virtualization software) and run it from within your Windows. Its cool how simple and easy Wubi was in order to get Ubuntu running, but I think its only useful if your planning on using it outside your Windows.

  • You have to do the same thing with any other OS.

That is the whole point of dual-booting.

  • how do i uninstall it?

  • Just go to add/remove programs *just as you would any other program* and then uninstall wubi.

  • easy, as hell! Thanks man!!!!!

  • No problem.

  • everytime i do that it takes me to something like m-dos

    wat do i do

  • this is way easier

  • haha yeah. Thx for subscribing

  • owner of wubi says not to use with vista, as it isnot surported yet and may wipe your hard-drive. I suggest you change your description?

  • Well i have used it on 3 of my vista computers and the all work fine, With no problems installing and running and nothing was corrupted or wiped from my hard drive.

  • hey how do you reboot back into windows when installing ubuntu? and i tried reboot my PC with ubuntu from a live CD but got errors during the rebooting process, had to stop the whole process, can i dwnload wubi and use a live CD instead dwnloading wubi and ubuntu again? please any help would be highly appreciated.

  • It should just boot strait bak to windows/ no u cant use a live cd when using wubi/ if your still have problems then u may want to just dual boot completely especially if your using vista becuase in vista it is very easy to partition and set up ubuntu.

  • hey, just dont use wubi, install windows first, then ubuntu, and it will give you a grub loader so you dont have to boot from a live CD. Alot less complicated and more permenent

  • Even thought this is not an actual install, I think a defrag before using Wubi is a good idea. Maybe I'm wrong, but it can't hurt.

  • sure if yah want..defrags always good if your computer is running slow.

  • wait this is dualboot right

so when i turn it on i have a choice of ubuntu or vista right?

  • Yes that is correct.

  • Can I select more of a size for my installation disc....

I mean how can I get Ubuntu to use more of the HD(that i'm sharing with windows)?

  • just change the amount of hard drive space it allows you to give under that option

  • can i boot into vista or ubuntu? if so, how?
