Secondly, the CL65 AMG is designed as a high performance luxury executive/family car sports car, not a racing car! The components used on both cars are different; weight on both cars are a difference of almost 500kg! The bhp difference is around 100bhp.
I would love the V12 Biturbo CL65 AMG. It's not the fastest around but at 5000 lbs it's definitely husky. I like it because it can do 4.5sec 0-60s and will keep your ass cool and microwave burritos at the same time. I like big cars.
The GTR doesn't even compare, at 3800 its a heavy sportscar with a completely different engine that makes only 480 or so lb-ft of torque. The Benz makes 738 lb-ft of torque. The GTR is designed to go fast and is easy to handle. Anyone can drive a GTR fast.

They are fast and handle like a dream. But the quality of leather they use in those benzs, bmws, and audi's aren't the same grade levels as lexus as far as softness. The suspension on those German cars are more geared to performance/luxury not 100% luxury. In a LS600 you float . In a Bmw, MB, audi, you have fun.

Mercedes Benz has poor reliability rating in Consumer Reports. Japanese cars in general receive higher ratings than American and German cars.
@hellboy0996 your not taking into consideration that Mercedes gives very very long warranties and dealers report the problems. After 4 years of owning a toyota you usual just wing it. I had a 2000 Mercedes S500 with 211,000 miles and never had any problems at all. Just a MAF meter needed to be changed ($300). Injection tube ($10 myself), tires every 50k miles, brakes every 30,000 miles, oil change which you can do yourself very easy or pay $100. Seems ok to me.

The GTR doesn't even compare, at 3800 its a heavy sportscar with a completely different engine that makes only 480 or so lb-ft of torque. The Benz makes 738 lb-ft of torque. The GTR is designed to go fast and is easy to handle. Anyone can drive a GTR fast.

I wouldn't expect to see it at a car show unless it was for high end consumers. Most of the cars I've seen at shows were new models, redesigns or pet projects.

GTR over Mercedes anyway. RELIABILITY over name. i have both brands and i love my Mercedes and all but it has an engine problem and runs like shit. My Infiniti runs smooth with no issues. Mercedes is just for name because Reliability wise, its fuckin garbage. GTR is faster than the CL65 with no problem anyway, the CL65 probably isnt stock and that shit has more hp and a V12??? hahaha 3.8L TT easily keeps up and could easily overtake it though. SAD

@polipopix now to your clean diesel statement: Audi (which I don't really like, to be honest) have developed a system that's called AdBlue. It uses some fancy chemicals to clean the fumes of NOx (i know the german word, but i have absolutely no idea how to translate it into english :rolleyes:). Diesel can be cleaned if you take some effort... which other manufacturers obviously don't. However, they should, because Diesels make up the largest piece of car sales in Europe.

The only car that compares to one of the newer LS models in luxury is Mercedes maybach and it is way more money. They are fast and handle like a dream. But the quality of leather they use in those benzs, bmws, and audi's aren't the same grade levels as lexus as far as softness. The suspension on those German cars are more geared to performance/luxury not 100% luxury. In a LS600 you float . In a Bmw, MB, audi, you have fun.

Mercedes Benz has poor reliability rating in Consumer Reports. Japanese cars in general receive higher ratings than American and German cars.

I had a 2000 Mercedes S500 with 211,000 miles and never had any problems at all. Just a MAF meter needed to be changed ($300). Injection tube ($10 myself), tires every 50k miles, brakes every 30,000 miles, oil change which you can do yourself very easy or pay $100. Seems ok to me.
