plenty of guys building custom harpmics out there...check out jeremy snell, chuck gurney, dave wren, johnny ace...etc etc...yours was a pretty nasty attack on someone with some information to share, especially as you are evidently ignorant of the topic..i dont really get why you do that...
@MrThunderclap can you explain to me like your explaining to someone who knows crap about mics, because you are, how to get a distortion sound in a mic, I need to know this soon before my buddies and I start start recording
Let me explain since I'm a custom harp mic builder for pro blues harp players. I saw the movie and it looks like he's using Shure's modern day Green Bullet DX. What this means is he's using a less than average hi impedence dynamic element in that microphone and his amp has alot of gain causing this overclipped distortion when he sings. I guarantee you there's a whole host of other microphones that will give a creamier nastier drive that a Green Bullet DX cannot attain due to its cheapness.
@MrThunderharp Dude. Stating that just made you come off as a complete idiot. What I got from that was that you not only know how to take a apart a fucking microphone but put them back together. Not only that but a specific type.... for a living. Now I really don't see much of a demand for custom harp mic builders. After that you lost me.That made you come off as in idiot. A Really big insignificant idiot. (You sounded really smart but you lost me after a stating your ridiculous profession)
it's the microphone he had built into his gretsch guitar. he also had it made double cut. plus, it's not a harmonica, it's his voice, through the guitar, through whatever effect, through the amp.
@laxattack09 no it's from a song called blue veins from the band the raconteurs you can search it...the harmonica mike part is the end of the song...my personal favorite is live at maidstone...
@laxattack09 I haven't found the whole video on youtube yet, but you can find the Raconteurs playing Blue Veins at Hove Festival, and JW using the same guitar and same harmonica microphone... :D

Dude, how can you get that sound in the mic ?
Just buy a harmonica mic and plug it to your amp and then sing, or what ?
Sounds fuckin awesome D:
