Great video. We can only hope that Dubai represents the future of the Arab world. It's modern, moderate, and well run. Not to mention open to the world. We should encourage its development. I can't think of anyplace I'd rather visit. You would prefer Teheran?? Gotta love Dubai.
@letspound What isn't wrong with Teheran? By "Teheran" I refer to the government. The Iraqi government is an absolute theocracy. I have nothing positive to say about a place where a woman who commits adultery is stoned to death. I find that barbaric, and when given a choice, most polls taken of Muslims indicate they do not want to live in that sort of society.
@letspound Oh, I agree. Sorry about the typo - I meant Iranian - there was a great travel show on recently, Rick Steves is the host - he went to Iran. It's an incredible city. I'd love to see Shiraz, and Persepolis. The people were amazingly warm and friendly. So, I agree. Yeah, I'd love to go to Teheran too.
Whats next dubai going to built an building 900m tall and in that building mansion apartments. I mean really the r spending at least $20 billion on this future stuff.
Your are right. Too many buildings will remain empty and prices will collapse in this desert city, that has little to offer, as it is surrounded by sand.
I was going to Dubai when the Burj al arab was the Chicago Hotel...haha..they were the days......Dubai had a population on 230,000 back then now you can add a million...easy!!!
6% of the finances that went behind this transform was from oil. The rest is from the families trade wealth. With the world going for natural fuels and eventually solar-electrical solutions, it was only a smart move on the part of the prince to cater to a tourism and business commerce offerings such as this. Brilliant! I can't wait to live here.
Agree, the music is not very good. Dubai is the example of how can a place blessed with crude oil transform itself into a worldwide economical focus. As long as it is that, it must look powerful and attractive. When they finish 80% of that projects, i'll visit it for sure! Kudos for the Emirates!
Like a place in a science fiction movie, the 21st century is unvieling itself full circle in some places outside the Americas such as Asia, India, and Dubai. I wonder what kind of opportunity abounds even though I may not have $ to invest. It requires $ to invest to realize good opportunities in the US today. A college degree and a good mind is not enough...
With its oil exports, if Dubai (and all other Middle Eastern countries blessed with crude oil) had started industrialising earlier, their economies could have been much better now n they could have ruled the world easily!

@dsindc yeah but it's still a beautiful city to visit, and by the way, teheran isn't in iraq and is not "iraqi".
