i understand that ice sculpturea have an ephemeral feel ,but still,these sculptors really should preserve their talent in a more durable medium. its heartbreaking to see so much beauty go away.. :,-(

They carve the ice for competitions and that was an example of a large demo. They collapse the large sculptures on purpose bc the ice is dangerous once it becomes unstable, such as if kids start playing around on it or it starts melting. This was all intentional for safety.
