Duran Duran weren't just decent musicians, they were also very creative fashion trendsetters. They established the stylish 80s look which influenced 1980s culture heavily throughout the world. For example where would hit TV show Miami Vice be without the strong influence of Duran Duran. DD band members established very early in the 1980s the style which permeated throughout the decade before the grunge look took over. By the Mid 1980s they were spent. However they had their place in history.
@ Stuchka From watching all the English TV shows that have featured DD over the past few months, it is indeed obvious that you guys are getting the lion's share of the goodness :-))
Meanwhile, here in the US it is non-stop GAG-a and Bieber-like drones... I do think that DD would play well though, considering how much airtime the obviously disco/dance inspired Cee Lo's "Forget You" is getting, youwould think DD's "Safe" would get some airtime too....
It kills me that the younger generation is missing out on DD because they are not getting much airtime on the radio... These guys bring it like nobody's business -with a few misses along the way, yes- but THIS...THIS is epic... Their new album is absolutely out of this world. I still cant stop playing "safe" and I have probably listened to it 200 times already....
@AkizMe they seem to be getting alot of airplay in the UK, especially BBC radio 2, but alot of the minor stations too.
Girl Panic is being far more played than AYNIN, I think it's coz it sounds more like the earlier stuff, whereas AYNIN sounds a bit more like something from Astronaught or Medazzalan?
The general public just can't seem to get into their heads that DD never stopped recording after 1989 lol!
This song and "safe" are the two I play over and over again.... And "safe" is such a freaking powerhouse of a dance song I cannot understand for the love of me why it was not released as a single (or was it? it is not like I listen to the radio anymore)!!! This song would killed on the dancefloors!
This is the mysterious & sensual sound of Duran Duran I fell in love with in the 80's, This is their sound which nobody has tried to reproduced since, simply beautiful! .I Have always been a fan of Duran Duran's darker, less heard of non top 40 hits. I can honestly say this is one of my fave Duran Duran songs ..I also believe this is the best song on this album.I'm so happy they stepped back to there musical roots to write songs like this once again :)
Listen to Simon sing on this track. 30 something years later and he sounds the same. I cannot begin to describe how I feel every time I listen to this song and it's about 20 times a day at this point.
@stuchka and the miracle happens whe you hear him live and a capella. His voice is absolutely flawless -most of the time- and yes, the man can actually sing!!!! For real!!! Not autotune shit going on with Simon LeBon...
as another fan since the early days, The Leopard does have that certain days of yore quality to it. In fact, the background riff sounds incredibly like The Chauffeur , which this video tribute smartly puts into its footage. Good to see them still cutting it and wearing it well after all these years.
as a hardcore duranie i have to say this is the only song thats really hot from the new album .they got the idea back again as far as vocal harmonizing ,nice melodic synths, and john's funky basslines. unfortunately there no awesome andy taylor guitar riffs. andas much as i try to like the other 8 songs in this album, its just not doing it for me.would anyone agree?
@TheNouveauxdecadence as a hardcore duranie i try to love the other songs but i just cant.a man who stole a leopard and medetirrenea are the only songs i love from this album, the others do nothing for me .sorry
the man who stole a leopard would sit happily amongst any of their best work from the last 4 decades, and if this was released in 1981 no-one would know it was made 30 years in the future.
I love this song soooo much, it almost bring me to tears as well, it's just the sheer beauty and seemlessness of it's flow and Kelis fit in there perfectly too, who'd have thought that!?!
10/10 for this album whereas RCM only scored 4/10 for me
@stuchka rcm how can you score so low.the record company should of released skin divers or let timbaland promote the album .it was current.this album has no time frame.its unique.
@duranasty There were a couple of songs on RCM I loved 'The Valley' and 'Box full O' honey'
Those two I feel had the biggest DD feel about them, some of the others were just too LandLake for me.
Maybe I was a bit harsh but there were around 5 songs on that album I always skipped, whereas this album I've yet to grow bored of any song, in fact, I'm dissapointed that the best song "mediterranea' was left out, that song is amazing! like they nipped back to 1981 to record it! :-D
Clearly the new age chaufferish style...love it! here are my top 5
1.before the rain....2....man who sold a leopard....3...being followed...4....girl panic...5...leave a light on.....the rest are just as amazing...wicked tunes boys...welcome back! dd forever

I didn't think any song by DD could top The Chauffeur but they nailed it. Cool video, thank you for posting. Their music is spiritual to me.
