  • I dont understand: it's a micro spring made with flexinol? Elongation is enormous!

  • If two section were attached would the response time be divided?

  • Cool, how hard can it pull (how many Newtons) ?

  • Did you buy this directly from the supplier in Japan, or is there another source?

  • I ordered these biometals from USA - Jameco electronics. But I am not sure, if they have these items in stock and even if they still sell biometals.

  • where did you buy the biometal helix

  • how did you get the computer to trace things like that? omg if i could do that that would be an awesome tool to trace what goes on in my curcuits. so i can see trends and debug better. please respond

  • The ultrasound distance sensor (you can see it under the weight) is connected through ampere-meter to the computer (RS232). Simple software is used to download the informations about current (depends on distance) in specified time increments. The current is calculated to distance and puted to Excel and real time graph is displayed on screen.

  • cool.

  • could you make a tutorial on how to do it? that would be so awesome. or can you link me to one?

  • Hi Peter. I´m Emilio from Argentina, student of aeronautics ingeneer, and I¨m working with Nitinol about a year, testing properties. thanks for your excelent video. I´ll post mines soon. I think we can change some interesting info...

  • VERY NICE!!!

  • It looks stunning! Supersmooth action. You apply 4.8V and how much weight is on the plate?

  • This wire (Biometal Helix 150) eats 150 - 200 mA of current and can lift more than 30 grams. 30 grams is the recovery force, which returns the wire to extended lenght after switching-off the power.

There are also thiner wires with less power requirements and are much more faster. Of course they are also weaker.

  • Thanks for your reply!
