@TheDavmallon well there are several ways to play this song. like in the vid, or theres another way, just go to ultimate guitar.com but i play it in drop A.
@ExclaimedMusic Alright, I've had one for some time and found it very effective for normal leads too. But you are right about the octave lead stuff. I miss mine...
@borntohula94 Thanks, The ampeg is a VT40 which was designed for guitar by a bass Amp company so its voicing is more low end oriented. The qzone is just a parked wah notch filter that gives it a more midrange squawk type sound.
Nice sounding guitar and nice playing too....Try a Nova System. (and yes, I have relations with TC Electronic even though I am sacked. Nevertheless that should raise my credibility for saying that Nova System IS brilliant for that kind of money :-)
i've been thinking about having a dimarzio d-activator-x on the bridge and a seymour duncan p-rails on the middle (it doesn't have a neck pickup slot, and the p-rails have PAF, singe and humbucker mode, which i hope would fit to rock more). i just hope i won't go with the wrong pickups, and you seem to know a bit about a decent rock tone! :) thanks in advance!
@tohtorigyro I don't know alot about single coil pickups. I prefer humbuckers since they have a bit more punch. Most important issue about pickups is their voicing. In Rock you want lots of mids vs scooped mids in metal. Some people call this vintage or classic voicing. I run mostly stock pickups in my guitars but the pros like the duncan customs or hotter output but still vintage voiced humbuckers. My advice is search for a pickup with the right voicing and don't worry to much about output.
@ThePartyOfOne yeah the dimarzio is definetly a pickup for metal, but the p-rails i think is for more to that vintage direction because they do have that ability to be a paf/p90 or singlecoil or a humbucker. i kinda want to have some versitility in the guitar so that's why it still would have the dimarzio. i'm hoping it'll turn out good and i thank you for you'r advice!
hey could you help me? i'm building a guitar (i know all about that) and i wanna know if any pickups will do when wanting to play rock? because i've always played metal and now i just have to try rock ect. i wanna know if i've got to have any specific gear or pickups to achieve a decent TCV or foo fighters tone. i've got a modeling amp so the amp sound/tone isn't the issue here :D.
YOU AGAIN! i send you a message about how much i enjoyed one of your other vids and you return with more kick assness... one gripe... where the hell is elvis? Hope this finds you well all the best from london...
What tuning? Everywhere I look says Standard.

Awsome tone. You've nailed it. Every tried an Ultimate Octave?
neoflox 6 months ago
@neoflox yes Ive owned one however never got the tone I liked out of it. Of course I never ran it thru on old ampeg so my mind might change.
ThePartyOfOne 6 months ago
@neoflox Josh only uses that pedal for octave leads, not his normal tone. Think the solo from Make It Wit Chu.

I'd love to hear the VT-40 all by itself, no pedals, just volume. Great sound with the dist Pro & Dunlop Q though!!! Defineately a cooool sound!

@tohtorigyro less is more when it comes to gain bass and treble, more is more when it comes to mids.
