The lyrics remind me of The Jacksons, "Heartbreak Hotel" or as they listed it on their Triumph album, "This Place Hotel". The songs have a similar theme and even have the same haunting scream in the background, like the scream at the beginning of "Off The Wall". I believe Michael received inspiration from this song, since it came before Off The Wall and Triumph.
