@proud2bechinese21 No, Mandarin is phoneticly the most pure kind of chinese, since it lost all endings -k, -p, -t, -m and only keep -n and -ng. Also it lost the distinction of yin and yang tones. Originally chinese has 陰平、陰上、陰去、陰入、中入、陽平、陽上、陽去、陽入 ... 福 is fuk in cantonese, and it has -k in all asian languages (japanese for example is FUKU). Only Mandarin has lost this endings. So Mandarin is quite useless if one want to understand the structure of Chinese Language.
