-.- really ? i run cross country . i'll stick w. my coaches tips . for mile 1 i give a push , mile 2 i slow a bit -little bit- , mile 3 you may fall back a little more but worry about passing people then at about an 800 you accelerate , give a longer stride ,& then try your hardest to sprint the end , about the 100 .

I'm running out of things to say... these are unbelievably bad videos. I hope all the views you're getting are for people wanting a laugh and not wanting training advice.
i think the camera man f*cked up the end, he wasnt supposed to get him stopping at the end of that little jog. he was supposed to make him look like he was running a marathon haha...expert camera men too i guess
Warming up the first half mile??? it's a race, you do your warming up before it...anyways he shouldn't talk, by seeing his form, he isn't much of a runner
@people12345 he meant start out slower to gauge pace then speed up as you go to the point where your over your overall goal pace so then you have the choice to slow down and repace back down to standard pace the last mile or keep up the higher pace and finish stronger if you can keep it up.
idk what the hell this "expert" is saying but what i liek to do in a 5k is basically just go out pretty fast and take a spot in the top 15 runners and hold it for the first mile, then throughout the second mile i like to gradually pick off people one or two at a time, then the third mile if im in the position i want to be in i start to just go pretty much balls to the walls and just make sure no body passes me and try to get in front of anybody that remains, but thats just me
if you want to place really good you have to keep up with the guys in the front at least for the first and a half miles... the next half mile you can actually cool it not that much but keep a good stride... and that last mile that's it pump it run for what you really want...
@strides1000 Cross Country starts like the 2nd to 3rd week after you get In to School... I start In late august so By Mid October We have our first meet... I'm from TEXAS
hey do you think I'll be able to compete. I can only run 2 kilometers max and in 9 minutes. I can probably run 5k if i pace myself. school training starts in two weeks. i train hard on weekdays and rest hard on sundays. any help would be appreciated.
id really now how to measure things in kilometers... but im guessin that's a little below 1.5 miles ...and well usually schools have 9 meets before district... and you know what... keep up with the guys in the front for as long as you can..that will build you up quick... and start jogging mondays a good 6-8 miles to get your lungs and legs strong...
all i know is that in my country if you pussy out in a race(not doing a finishing to where you fall to the ground) or while doing hardass training we cut off the genitals of the ones who do that.
this only happened to one guy of course named chen.
btw our miles are made almost entirely of tempo runs and 2-3 days of the week are intervals for the second workout of the day.
actually no we do something similiar on my cross country team, theyre called "tempo runs" we dread them but trust me try them and you will se results.
What!? This dude better not get paid for this! He's horrible not one tip video is accurate. Sorry to be so brutal but it's true, I'd do a better job making these vids for free..haha But really he's a lifeguard and swimmer, not a runner,,
He might be wrong about warming up during the race, but you have no right to bad-mouth his video. Everyone has their own way of warming up. Maybe it's how he runs. Who knows? But serously I don't see you guys helping the running world get better by posting any videos. If you have that much to say, make your own video and stop criticizing his video.
When he talks about warming up during the race he's referring to getting your body in a constant-motion zone that you can not reach from a pre-race warm up. How about we make sure we know what were accusing him of before we go off on him. Idiots.
That was pretty bad advice. 1) You dont warmup DURING the race, What I do is just think. My first mile was 5 mins so my second should be, and so should my third.
no you stay in the back group first half-mile or so, then start going at a quicker pace and always stay at that pace the whole time. Rly, the only real trick is to just never stop
this is seriously the worst advice I have EVER heard
Use the first half mile as a warm up??? WHAT? Have you ever heard of warming up before the race....
Also, maybe you should go watch the race yesterday at NCAA prenats--It sure looked like they used the first part of the race as a warmup (2:30 through the 1k--that's not fast or anything)
I am sorry, but every single one of the cross country advice videos are pitiful and useless. Please stick to subjects you have knowledge about. Thanks!
Hmmm, I might take advice from this guy in football or something, but running definatley not. And what was with the little 20m shuffle he did at the end?

Not right at all you should always warm up before the race even begins.

ok peter.
the truth is very simple.
only 1 rule: you need balls to increase speed during a race

how about warming up before the race?
my advice
10-15 mins 6min/k run warmup
5-10 controlled sprints to get the heart beat up
5-10 mins of "rest" before the race.
then you will be fast!

haha this tool know nothing about cross country. since when do you "warm up" during the first mile of a race? you warm up before.
and I've never heard of a 3 mile race. a 5k is 3.1 miles if that's what you were talking about.
for future reference don't wear frickin bball shorts when you run. retard.
