Windows Mobile started with "We are the only one, people will choose our system".
This attitude is still active with even WM 6.5. But now you have better Mobile Phone Operating Systems. Look at iOS or Android. Those 2 are so incredible. Windows Mobile phones are not that great anymore. 6.5 is working great with HTC Sence. But otherwise, no....
And I think that WP7 will not bring the feeling what iOS or Android is giving.
Well you see the point is that "Windows Mobile" was never original developed with the kiddy mobile cell phone buyer in mind. It was originally developed for business use with a stylus.
Now has come the craze for finger friendly OS's with app stores so MS had to quickly mod there current mobile system "CE6" hence WM6.5.5 (The one with start button at bottom)
WP7 is been released a bit late in the game but will probably take off, although I personally prefer the look and feel of WM6.5.5
@ATHiESTuk Yes that is true, it was for business usage. But if you are a company like Microsoft and you want to have the biggest OS for Mobile phones. And you notice that a phone like the iPhone with iOS is getting better and growing like shit. You should think that you would make some actions. And now with Android....
My point is, WM6.5 is just old. And to be one the Mobile Operating Systems that is controlling this market, you need to make some actions. And Microsoft is doing that, only 2 late
@ATHiESTuk Exactly dude. I think MS should release 2 editions. One based on the WP7 touch interface and a "business" edition based off of original Windows Mobile 6.5 with a few more touches added.
I think Windows Mobile really started to suck when they released version 6.5. Before that, it was awesome. Who knows how much Windows Mobile 7 will screw things up even worse.
@2BunnyReturns Windows 6.5 is essentially the same thing except for a new native home screen (which you can turn off and use the standard today screen) and finger scrolling. Which is pretty damn good.
Yep. They've got a "dumbed down" homescreen and some essentials loose the scroll bar. Does it look like we want toilet paper scrolling or something? LOL!
But do you really want to lug around a laptop with a cellular radio, WLan, Bluetooth, a tiny hard drive, a huge 10" case, a giant battery, and a noisy cooling fan? Because that's what you're referring to. There is no "miracle device" that will run Windows like that. Until then, we've got Embedded OSes like Windows Mobile 6 which work rather well, to be honest.
@IrateGamingZealot It's good it hasn't changed all that much. Who needs the transparent windows, glossy bars and ultra big icons? All I care about is my PDA being fast, supporting standards and having a range of useful programs (programs, NOT Apps!) working on it without stability issues. That's why I still use Windows Mobile 2003 SE!
Cool video. It's funny how WinMo had flat taskbars the whole (except 6.1) while desktop Windows went from flat (2k) to gradient (XP) to glossy (Vista) and back to flat (7).
looks like apple gets all the ideas from windows after all!

Actually the "6.0" picture was just 5.0 with a green theme. The glossy bars started with 6.0.
It's sad how little the OS has changed since the beginning. Bring on WM7.

Do we really need to make phones that much more prone to virus's and bugs? Doesn't look bad however...
INSOMNASTALGICAL 2 years ago
It's no more prone to viruses and bugs than any other smartphone platform.

I was waiting for a punchline at the end. But I guess Windows Mobile is a punchline by itself. (ex Win-Mo user)
