WW1 was an extremely complex war, and there is a very large amount of information to consider when you discuss who started it. I believe that it has its roots in the secretive and manipulative world of European politics dating from around 1890 to around 1910.

Great video, My Grandfather was a soldier with Canada during ww1 and wounded twice once at ST.JULIEN 1915 AND AT VIMY 1917 48th Highlanders 15th Battalion Ladies from Hell kilted unit.

Australia, Canada and New Zealand eagerly joined the war on the side of Britain because they saw Britain as their motherland, and they wanted to help defend the motherland from German aggression. Britain had no choice but to fight in the war, if they hadn't fought it Germany would have ruled all of Europe and from then on Britain's fate would have been sealed. We all died bravely as brothers in arms

@kaliban4 It's because there was little gained. The British and French lost a generation of young men and only gained Germany's overseas colonies in exchange. It pretty much set the stage for World War Two, and the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire led directly to further ethnic/religious unrest in those areas.
