@pgfracing Simpy saying a prayer does not save anyone I agree. However, there are examples of a sinners prayer all through out scripture. Psalm 51 is one of them. This is the psalm that was written by David as a prayer of repentance that he prayed regarding his sin with Bathsheeba. Mark 10:46-52 tells of how blind Bartimeus cried out to Jesus to receive sight. Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to call unto him. Romans 10 says that with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 2:38 is still God's plan of salvation for today. The church got started this way. The Jews, Gentiles and Samaritans all came the same way. Mark 16:16. Romans 6:3-5. 1 Corinthians 12:13. Beautiful singing and music but one must read the new testament and look at the examples in Acts to see how people were saved in the early church. Don't rely on videos and tv pastors to always know the truth about what to do. Just because somethings wrapped in a nice package don't make it true. I recommend the following as a start. Matt. I must say that your intentions were good by making this video, but please, this is not biblical at all. I am not saying God can not save you through a prayer, all I am saying is people have to walk the walk if they are going to put faith in such a prayer. I have to agree. I said several "sinner's prayers" throughout my childhood, and teens years, and it was just an emotional experience, something I did because I felt pressure from a pastor to come to an altar, or from a Sunday School teacher to say a prayer. The Bible never once gives an example of someone praying to receive salvation, and while we do need to acknowledge our sins openly, they are already forgiven, as long as we have true faith in Jesus. Prayers are not faith & do not save us

@R0b0rkle From what I have learned, though I know very little about it, is along with the brain being transplanted the brain still has brain waves, biochemistry, and functions just as it would inside the skull. A brain taken out of the skull could be talked to, recieve electrical signals, but it was not sure as to whether the brain processes the information. So (cont'd)

What he is actually saying in the video is that salvation is not due to works, but rather a free gift, given by God and recieved by faith. If works were needed than the cross becomes useless. Jesus has paid!

The Sinner's Prayer has some nice thoughts and we should indeed pray those things.
However, you will NOT find the so-called "Sinner's Prayer" in the Bible.
Given the choice between what that prayer said which someone wrote maybe a few hundred years ago, and what Jesus & His Apostles said to do in the 1st century AD(from around 30-60AD), I'll stick with what He & they & they actually said & did.

Every person is commanded by God to repent of sin (turn from sin) and place their faith in Christ alone to be saved. A prayer itself will not save, though many have called out and prayed to God to have mercy on them and were saved. The sinners prayer is a guideline for believing, accepting, confessing, then promising to live as Christ commanded. Baptism through submersion after that is what is required. The sinners prayer is doing all of that, with the exception of the baptism and those who are led in the sinners prayer are then asked to further their commitment by being baptized. I think everyone has left 1 important element out: GRACE. It is by GRACE ye are saved. If you confess and BELIEVE, it is by grace you are saved. People make this a hard thing. The result is following Christ, turning from your previous sinful ways (getting your act together for good and not evil) and TRUSTING God. However, I also believe that a person on his/her deathbed, or someone who is unable to speak, can also recite that prayer in their heads, believing and they will be saved.

When I said the sinner's prayer in 1976 it was a starting point; a beginning. The rest of my life is a journey with Christ. Later on I learned about baptism and other doctrines. We all have to start somewhere and the sinners prayer, if said with sincerity, is a good beginning. Think of the thief on the cross. Christ told Him that he would be with Him today in paradise. He didn't need to do anymore than say "remember me when you come into your kingdom" Keep it simple!
the thief on the cross had nothing to do with salvation as we know it! Christ hadnt died yet. the thief was still under the physical covenent relationship with God as a jew, and was in need of restoration, which God gave him. old mosaic law. context determains meaning. you start with BELIEVING. whether u pray a sinners prayer or not, no difference. in fact, if u pray it out of a changed heart. it is meaningless, because only God changes and by his GRACE u'v already been saved prayer or not.
The sinner's prayer is found nowhere in the Bible. Jesus tells us to "repent and believe the gospel." It's by faith; it's not a decision. Look up Paul Washer on the sinner's prayer.

I love your heart in this... however, If my friend who is very much a "god hater" said this prayer she would no more be saved then a person who "loves" Jesus and says it. there is not a scripture where God tells you to give other people assurance of salvation. please be careful. how could you give someone salvation when only the Lord knows ones heart and he will be the one to give them assurance. and according to the bible it is by his sanctification and discipline and continuing faith. with a heart that is deceitful and wicked the only way one can even know if they "meant it" is by their continued faith.

Yes it is By Faith alone that one is saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 then read Ephesians 2:10 (The works are the result of being saved through The Holy Spirit) God knows your heart and when you are standing before Him in heaven 1 Cor 3:13-15. @pgfracing Simpy saying a prayer does not save anyone I agree. However, there are examples of a sinners prayer all through out scripture. Psalm 51 is one of them. This is the psalm that was written by David as a prayer of repentance that he prayed regarding his sin with Bathsheeba. Mark 10:46-52 tells of how blind Bartimeus cried out to Jesus to receive sight. Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to call unto him. Romans 10 says that with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

@reneesourlis that is just it. the people who do not believe that you have to confess with your mouth and accept him in to your heart are not saved they are the ones that believe you have to go to church prey and not sin that is by works they are saying will get you saved. and the bible says not by works should any man boast that means if it were by works it would make man proud and say to one another look what i did and god does not want that. that is why it is a gift.

Why what wrong with the sinner's prayer? there is nothing wrong with it..it is just a sort of guide for beginners...did the video say we should not repent of our sins? What wrong with too many people is that...we are quick to judge other ...we are all saved by Grace (not of works of the Law) and should we boast that we are better? No, we should instead encourage one another and love one another...as Bob Dylan clearly puts it regarding us Christians "SHOW ME SOMEONE WHO KNOW HOW TO LIVE IT!"

Acts 2:38 is still God's plan of salvation for today. The church got started this way. The Jews, Gentiles and Samaritans all came the same way. Mark 16:16. Romans 6:3-5. 1 Corinthians 12:13. i think if you can say a prayer in any way even a sinners prayer that you in your heart are saved jesus doesnt expect you to hurry up and change your way just do right and worship god and praise him your bad habbits or issues will widle away you just have to accept him into your life god has brought me along way with me and my family i back slide now and then but i repent god knows me and my heart i just need to be stronger and keep my dominion and my faith god closes doors and opens new ones

GREAT VID! great scripture, i guess the people who bashed this didnt get to that part of the vid. We are saved by grace thru faith...it doesnt matter how you say the prayer but your relationship does start with a prayer. This is just a guidline for someone who is searching. I said a prayer like this when I was 19 and it changed my life forever. You just have to believe to be saved and when you truely believe you will repent...read Galatians for all the legalistic Christians. Be Free.

Beautiful singing and music but one must read the new testament and look at the examples in Acts to see how people were saved in the early church. Don't rely on videos and tv pastors to always know the truth about what to do. Just because somethings wrapped in a nice package don't make it true. I recommend the following as a start. Matt. Mark Luke and John Acts Romans... then John 8:24, Luke 13:3, Rom10:10, Acts 8:35-39 Don't stop. keep studying.

I understand that "saying a prayer" does not get a person "saved". Even being sincere while praying it may not work because people may mean what they say "AT THAT MOMENT". I guess that my question for the guy who "mistakenly thought he was saved for 17 years but was NOT" is this: Is there something I can do TONIGHT and go to bed knowing if I'm saved or do I just have to "wait and see" if I repent and continue the effort to do better?? I must say that your intentions were good by making this video, but please, this is not biblical at all. I am not saying God can not save you through a prayer, all I am saying is people have to walk the walk if they are going to put faith in such a prayer. A superstitious prayer can only lead to frustration and heartache once the Christians who pray it find that they have no true relationship with God. I prayed this prayer for 17 years. I got "truly" saved last year. GOD BLESS

Do you think saying this prayer makes you saved and that you will go to Heaven? Do you possibly think that you can say this prayer, and not repent, and you will be saved? Do you honestly believe that? If so, why then is the sinners prayer not in any scripture? Read your bible and spend less time making these videos! You can not say a prayer and then get into heaven. I have to agree. I said several "sinner's prayers" throughout my childhood, and teens years, and it was just an emotional experience, something I did because I felt pressure from a pastor to come to an altar, or from a Sunday School teacher to say a prayer. The Bible never once gives an example of someone praying to receive salvation, and while we do need to acknowledge our sins openly, they are already forgiven, as long as we have true faith in Jesus. Prayers are not faith & do not save us

How many lost souls will feel completely justified now in their unchanged, fleshly, sinful, un-regenerate lives because you have just laid a false assurance at their feet.
What is the Gospel? Why did Jesus have to die? What about baptism? How can I know for sure that I actually "believed"?

@R0b0rkle From what I have learned, though I know very little about it, is along with the brain being transplanted the brain still has brain waves, biochemistry, and functions just as it would inside the skull. A brain taken out of the skull could be talked to, recieve electrical signals, but it was not sure as to whether the brain processes the information. So (cont'd)

@R0b0rkle Robert J. White, a Neurosurgeon who performed a brain transplant (supposivly the first) said that not personality is transplanted with the brain. He pu the head of a monkey on another monkeys body and it lived for 7 days. It acted just like a monkey. He claims personality, and the soul is transplanted along with the brain. But, I have not studied well. As far as faith is concerned, I believe it wouldnt be shaken.

In your video it says their is nothing you can do to earn salvation, then why are you telling people to say a prayer. I know you mean well, But its so much more than a prayer. No one on earth ever got saved by that prayer, you can not dumb down the gospel what would God think. Name one person from scripture that ever said a prayer, did Saul, Peter, anyone no no no . What he is actually saying in the video is that salvation is not due to works, but rather a free gift, given by God and recieved by faith. If works were needed than the cross becomes useless. Jesus has paid!

Do you realize that you will be responsible for these peoples souls if they believe this non-sense and think they are saved when they are not. You will stand before God and have to give an account for spreading this false (easy believism doctrine). The only book in the bible that gives a word for word account of how sinners will get saved is Acts. This is not a game! These are peoples souls. Perhaps you should read and understand the book of Acts before you post any more soul damning videos.

The Sinner's Prayer has some nice thoughts and we should indeed pray those things.
However, you will NOT find the so-called "Sinner's Prayer" in the Bible.
Given the choice between what that prayer said which someone wrote maybe a few hundred years ago, and what Jesus & His Apostles said to do in the 1st century AD(from around 30-60AD), I'll stick with what He & they & they actually said & did.

@Bosingr no the sinners prayer is not in the bible. but it does say that the only way to heaven is by accepting god's gift of salvation they just call it the sinners prayer because that is what you prey when you accept him into your heart after that god changes your heart and mind and you mature in christ and grow in him we will still sin but have to try our best not to and when we do ask for forgiveness which is repenting of our sins and ask god for strength to walk in his foot steps

Every person is commanded by God to repent of sin (turn from sin) and place their faith in Christ alone to be saved. A prayer itself will not save, though many have called out and prayed to God to have mercy on them and were saved. But a prayer is no sure way to be saved, again we are called to repent and believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, not say a prayer.

I don't believe being saved is a decision.I believe the bible which says God chose the elect for eternal life.You dont choose Him.Its wonderful that you and your wife are concerned about the worlds salvation.I think this isnt a good way to do it.I think a video saying you will help find them someone to talk to in their area so they will know more about Christ would be better.Why would you accept someone you don't know?

The sinners prayer is a guideline for believing, accepting, confessing, then promising to live as Christ commanded. Baptism through submersion after that is what is required. The sinners prayer is doing all of that, with the exception of the baptism and those who are led in the sinners prayer are then asked to further their commitment by being baptized. Please don't let Satan use you by leading others astray by a spirit of religiosity. Rules and regulations are just that. Religiosity.

believing lasts for a lifetime. faith defined by the bible is accompanied by works, or change. so why would we encourage a one time belief? that is what this does. why tell them to pray this? simply preach the gospel and tell them to follow Christ and believe. and if thats what they do, they will be saved. we dont need a "defining moment," we just need the spirit to intervene. "accepting Christ" means accepting him as a lifestyle as defined throughout the entire bible and confessing, the same.

I think everyone has left 1 important element out: GRACE. It is by GRACE ye are saved. If you confess and BELIEVE, it is by grace you are saved. People make this a hard thing. The result is following Christ, turning from your previous sinful ways (getting your act together for good and not evil) and TRUSTING God. However, I also believe that a person on his/her deathbed, or someone who is unable to speak, can also recite that prayer in their heads, believing and they will be saved.

as long as it is the type of belief that if they were to be miraculously healed, would continue. why do they need to recite a prayer? they just need to BELIEVE and follow him. even if its on their deathbed. .faith is a gift, given by God. no one will believe on their own accord. to say that a human prayer saves, is WORKS. works salvation is true. not work of men though. work of God. if they pray that out of a changed heart, they were saved already. by Gods grace. whether they pray or not

When I said the sinner's prayer in 1976 it was a starting point; a beginning. The rest of my life is a journey with Christ. Later on I learned about baptism and other doctrines. We all have to start somewhere and the sinners prayer, if said with sincerity, is a good beginning. Think of the thief on the cross. Christ told Him that he would be with Him today in paradise. He didn't need to do anymore than say "remember me when you come into your kingdom" Keep it simple!

the thief on the cross had nothing to do with salvation as we know it! Christ hadnt died yet. the thief was still under the physical covenent relationship with God as a jew, and was in need of restoration, which God gave him. old mosaic law. context determains meaning. you start with BELIEVING. whether u pray a sinners prayer or not, no difference. in fact, if u pray it out of a changed heart. it is meaningless, because only God changes and by his GRACE u'v already been saved prayer or not.

The sinner's prayer is found nowhere in the Bible. Jesus tells us to "repent and believe the gospel." It's by faith; it's not a decision. Look up Paul Washer on the sinner's prayer.

If I can say this in the most loving way possible, This is completely false and incorrect. There is not a single example of one praying Jesus into his heart in the Bible, the inspired Word of God.
But, there are passages that say, you must be baptized in order to be saved! Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 22:16. The list goes on!

I love your heart in this... however, If my friend who is very much a "god hater" said this prayer she would no more be saved then a person who "loves" Jesus and says it. It takes a confession with your mouth & a life changed. Even the devil believes and trembles... and confesses Jesus is Lord... but he is by no means forgiven. Where in scripture does it say "say a prayer and you'll be saved"? I'm pretty sure every where in the new testament it says repent and follow Christ. it's not a one time decision, it's a life long relationship and it's not acquired by saying a prayer one time in your bedroom, it's done by living for Jesus on a daily basis.

Amen. Did not think it that way. BTW I hate the modern day sinners prayer and think it is a modern day heresy just like Pelagianism and Semi-Pelaginiam. Historically and Biblically it has no basis. I am glad to see that more and more people are opening their eyesy to this truth. The only demand is to Repent and Believe not come foward and sign a card or repeat some prayer and utimately it is God who chooses. We may have chosen God but it was God who made us willing by givning us a new heart.

there is not a scripture where God tells you to give other people assurance of salvation. please be careful. how could you give someone salvation when only the Lord knows ones heart and he will be the one to give them assurance. and according to the bible it is by his sanctification and discipline and continuing faith. with a heart that is deceitful and wicked the only way one can even know if they "meant it" is by their continued faith.

do you want to know what baby Christians in the times of the Roman Empire when Romans 10:9-10 was writen did? When ever the confessed the Jesus was Lord instead of Ceaser they got their heads chopped off. Repeating a prayer is not the same as Confessing Jesus as Lord.

exactly. how can you know a mans heart? you know what that means. dont tell someone they are unsaved, just read the scriptures. it also means dont tell someone that they are saved. so if you tell them to pray this, you better not make a promise God never makes by telling them they are saved. he never once tells us to assure people that. thats between him and them. if you do this, you add to his word.

In Heb 11 faith is the evidence of salvation (things not seen) so it sounds like catch 22. I have faith if I am saved but the lost don't have faith so it is only by grace that anyone receives the gift of life.

...to be saved. NOWHERE. When we do this we breed false converts. People think they are saved because they prayed a prayer. Many people have been saved the day they prayed the sinner's prayer, but they were saved inspite of the prayer, not because of it. In fact, you will find that before the 1800s, you will find no sinner's prayer in church history or Christian writings.

I think you misunderstood iuguigjf. I don't think he was arguing against being born again. I think he (she?) was saying what many of us believe, that the sinner's prayer serves to create false converts. Yes, the Bible says to call on the name of the Lord, but there is nothing in scripture about being saved because you prayed a prayer. That's heretical. Salvation is 100% God, 0% man. All we must do is believe and repent. Nowhere in scripture is anyone led thru a prayer...

The term "faith" in the Bible demands action on the part of those who claim to have it. It's God's way of separating the "talkers" from the "doers." There is NO sinner's prayer in the Bible that results in salvation on the spot. Consider the account of Cornelius: a devout man, feared God, helped the poor, and prayed to God continually. Very emotional and heart-felt video. The problem is there is NO sinner's prayer ANYWHERE in the Bible. Eternity never ends, so I ought not hang my eternal salvation on someone's emotionally charged video with no Bible backing. True, we cannot earn our salvation, but we surely must believe and obey Christ. (John 3:36) And Christ said, "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved." (Mark 16:16) Want to obey Jesus that He would save you? Do what He says and not what the world says.

may i challenge u to read any 1 of the 1st 4 books in the new testament, to read with an open heart and to investigate for ur own personal conclusion, u cannot simply tell people there is no God without a fair investigation. ask urself if u kno even half of EVERYTHIN? then ask urself if there is any chance that God may be in the half u dont kno? if u find that there is no god, then thats ur result, but IF u find God, then love Him.

You can justify something by explaining its what you dont understand.. If you look at books like "The God Dellusion" Or the documentary "The Root of all evil" i have been studying religion and science for a while.. along with other various things such as poetry... and art.. but all that aside im hoping you dont atleast belive in that creationism bullcrap.

After saying the sinners prayer the persons Heart must believe in Jesus and accept his sacrifice for all his sins are forgiven. God knows the persons heart and if they've Repented. Baptism can be through receiving the Holy Spirit when they BELIEVE on Jesus. But to accept Jesus for your sins you must repent and truly be sorry for your sins. Matthew 4:17. Then Jesus told us to diciple them. Plug them in or disciple them ourselves as many as we can. Have a team. Lets do This. Praise Jesus

Yes it is By Faith alone that one is saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 then read Ephesians 2:10 (The works are the result of being saved through The Holy Spirit) God knows your heart and when you are standing before Him in heaven 1 Cor 3:13-15. Anything not built on Jesus with a pure heart seems like it will be burned away, (no reward) but the believer is saved as though barely escaping through a wall of flames. WOW! Now as to Matthew 7:21-23 seems to show that many are just going thru motions.

cont. they do not really have a genuine acceptance and faith toward Jesus and true desire let Jesus save them. "They are just going through the motions and seeking honor from men, and have no relationship with Jesus" Meaning they have not been born again. John 3:3. When you are saved, Jesus will never forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 Deut. 31:6,8.

The reply Jesus gave to Nicodemus contrasted the physical birth he was speaking about, with that of the Spiritual birth. In other words He acknowledged the physical birth aspect, and then described the need for Nicodemus to be Born Again. To become a New Creation in Christ... Saved by Grace, through Faith.
